Milk pouring protest

What the fuck is wrong with these idiots?

So in a cost of living crisis what they've achieved is a) the waste of perfectly good milk and food (other shops they've poured milk over cheese and other dairy products that will now have to be chucked) and b) forcing underpaid and overworked retail staff to clear up their mess.

The entitlement from these absolute fuckwits is unbelievable.

Would be interested to know if dairy-free MNers agree with these particular protests?

I would tend to agree with you. Being vegan is a choice, my choice is not to be vegan. I don't need militant idiots forcing their social agenda on others.
It is incredibly narrow minded to think everyone should have the same opinion as you.
These fools rate similarly with the Stop Oil gang.
Whilst I agree change needs to the future generations and the environment, their methods of protest only serve to antagonise and do not create support for the cause.

KitchiHuritAngeni · 15/10/2022 17:49

There has been some talk of some of these protests (the soup/painting one and a couple of the milk ones) have been done by paid actors.

Not sure if it's true but it's definitely a story I'm keeping an eye on.

Its possible, its also possible that some of those protesting might just happen to be actors too.

Either way they are wasteful idiots, and will achieve nothing but pissing off the demographic they say they are standing for.

Teresa777 · 15/10/2022 17:51

They're also massive, massive cowards - would love to see them dare try it in Wester Hailes, they'd get their arse handed to them and then some

alpenguin · 15/10/2022 17:54

The ignorance being displayed by activists at the moment highlights their elitist privilege. It’s only a can of soup or it’s only a pint of milk as if it’s ok because it’s not a lot and that one can/pint won’t solve world hunger or poverty.

try explaining to a hungry child you’re throwing away perfectly good foodstuffs for their future… that’ll get them on side

Igmum · 15/10/2022 17:58

Agree. If they want to campaign for a vegan future that's fine, but to destroy good food when many are going hungry - absolutely vile entitled behaviour.

Kanaloa · 15/10/2022 18:01

I’m vegetarian (we also consume very little milk products and get eggs only from friend’s chickens etc) but I disagree with this. Most veggies and vegans will disagree with this. Unfortunately there’s a very small minority who embarrass the rest of us by specifically going against what we stand for.

I guess it’s a bit like how religion is often used as an excuse to behave like an arsehole but most religious people would be ashamed to see their beliefs used in that way.

Kellie45 · 15/10/2022 18:02

These are middle class twits who have never had to work hard for a living. Put them to work on a farm

Kanaloa · 15/10/2022 18:02

If anything a better protest (imo) would be something like what Jaden Smith does. He has a vegan food truck which provides free food to the homeless/those unable to pay. Giving back while also giving a face/voice to veganism.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 15/10/2022 18:03

I normally support protest even if I don’t agree with the subject of the protest. I don’t like damage or art though or needless waste.

I do find it hard to care about Harrods food hall being messy but it also feels like a waste.

overall is it effective though? I expect only people who agree with them already would agree with this protest, I wonder if other approaches would be more effective

snowballer · 15/10/2022 18:05

Glad I'm not the only one that feels like this! The sight of the poor staff just watching the mess they're making that they'll have to clean up is sick making.

Shops are easy targets. They should try and pour milk all over the floor at a dairy farm, bet they wouldn't be so brave to try that. Cowards.

DDivaStar · 15/10/2022 18:06

Surely if they're not planning in paying for it, its theft ?

Haha is there any vegans in westerhailes? Can’t imagine them in that close proximity to cobbinshaw 🤣

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 15/10/2022 18:12

Entitled pathetic twits. You don’t see the same majority of us burning avacados and tofu. They’re discrediting themselves more and more.

ChaToilLeam · 15/10/2022 18:13

They’d get their posho arses handed to them in Muirhouse! Let’s see them try it there.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 15/10/2022 18:17

Anyone else think this pic shows these protesters looking just like spoilt toddlers tantrumming as they can’t get their own way? They look pathetic and really have not helped their “cause” in the least.

TidyDancer · 15/10/2022 18:32

They are beyond pathetic.

On the whole, it seems to be the entitled and spoiled woke twats that can be found in other protest clubs as well. It's practically rent a cause - not sure they really care what they're arguing for/against as long as they get to have their public temper tantrum.

They embarrass themselves but never seem to have the capacity to understand that's what they're doing.

BreatheAndFocus · 15/10/2022 18:35

I don’t buy dairy milk but these little, spoilt idiots pissed me right off! In fact, I’d wish they’d piss off to the back of beyond because what they’re doing is the opposite of what they think. They’re not persuading or educating anyone, just putting people’s backs up so they’ll shut their ears to any more sensible messages.

When I was at Uni, we protested against battery eggs but we left little, brief educational facts. What we didnt do is smash the eggs all over the floor like spoilt twats.

Dairy is animal abuse, whatever way you look at it 🤷‍♀️ annoying for the supermarket workers though I guess!

Loics · 15/10/2022 18:41

I don't buy a lot of meat alternatives, I do eat meat, but prefer some of the vegan/vegetarian alternatives. I won't go vegan though, I don't want to, and protests like this cement that idea further each time.

Zebedee55 · 15/10/2022 18:41

Every time they destroy the produce for sale, the shop has to buy replacement milk etc. These eco nuts aren’t very bright if they don’t realise they are actually boosting the market…🙄

TimBoothseyes · 15/10/2022 18:41

If I was the manager in that shop, I'd get a mop, bucket and security and those idiots would not be leaving until they'd cleaned the mess up and paid for the milk they ruined.

Yes and now more “animal abuse” has to happen to make up
for the spilled milk. Supply
snd demand. No one is going to stop drinking milk because of this, so the same quantity will have to be replaced.

Fucking idiots… trashing high end retail outlets, glueing hands to roads prohibiting people to go about their business and delaying emergency services, tomato soup over a Van Gogh and human waste over Sir Tom. These people are privileged middle class environmental terrorists and the lack of policing and punishment is infuriating!!
They are turning the general public against them and their cause with every disgusting protest and pathetic attention seeking.
