Milk pouring protest

What the fuck is wrong with these idiots?

https://twitter.com/rebelsanimal/status/1581251694444564486?s=46&t=rCJ8ncsUW4dOKMKpSOjI5w

So in a cost of living crisis what they've achieved is a) the waste of perfectly good milk and food (other shops they've poured milk over cheese and other dairy products that will now have to be chucked) and b) forcing underpaid and overworked retail staff to clear up their mess.

The entitlement from these absolute fuckwits is unbelievable.

Would be interested to know if dairy-free MNers agree with these particular protests?

I'm a vegan and don't agree with it.

FayeGovan · 15/10/2022 20:20

They should have tried it in farmfoods in Glasgow somewhere. The staff would have had a square go.

Fuckwits.

VinoDino · 15/10/2022 20:27

Oh course they chose the Waitrose in Morningside 🙄 Would love to see them pulling this stunt up at Lidl's in Gracemount.

PinkSyCo · 15/10/2022 20:34

Do these privileged idiots feel no shame that the poor staff watching them will have to clear their mess up? Ugh they make me sick!

Ameanstreakamilewide · 16/10/2022 10:13

What a bunch of cunts they all are...

Tbh I think this is the best summary 🤣

I’m vegan and am fucking horrified. How dare they!!!

Yes, they're so privileged and entitled they've no consideration for others who will have to clear up after them.

Hbh17 · 16/10/2022 12:54

It's wasteful, idiotic, attention-seeking and insulting to people who are struggling to buy food.
It's also theft. And the mess will have to be cleared up by low-paid workers.
If I had previously been in tje slightest bit supportive if their cause, these ridiculous acts of vandalism would have completely turned me off- so it's self-defeating too.

CuriousCatfish · 16/10/2022 12:55

Do the twats pay for the milk they have wasted?

Do they know everyone thinks they are twats?

FlorettaB · 16/10/2022 12:57

I loathe milk. Having said that, what exactly is pouring milk all over the floor of Fortnum & Mason supposed to achieve? This might be the exception to ‘there’s no such thing as bad publicity’. Nothing makes you look more like a privileged wanker than wasting food/drink when food bank usage is set to hit an all time high and creating a mess for minimum wage workers to mop up.

CuriousCatfish · 16/10/2022 13:00

Mummy and daddy will no doubt pay any fines the privileged idiots might receive.

PickAChew · 16/10/2022 13:03

Entitled arseholes. Fine not to support the dairy industry. Not at all fine to waste food and make a mess for someone else to clean up.

I hope they're prosecuted and made to do something menial in the way of community service.

donquixotedelamancha · 16/10/2022 13:07

If anything a better protest (imo) would be something like what Jaden Smith does. He has a vegan food truck which provides free food to the homeless/those unable to pay.

What a bastard. What did the poor homeless people do to him?

RaininSummer · 16/10/2022 13:09

These destructive and wasteful antics mean I actually don't care what they are protesting about which is a shame as somewhere in there I expect there is a valid argument.

kingtamponthefurred · 16/10/2022 13:12

I have a theory that not eating animal products causes atrophy of the brain.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 16/10/2022 13:14

Protests like this don’t make sense, people who want to buy milk will still buy milk. Their protest just means a large amount of milk has gone to waste and even more will need to be purchased to meet demand.

A better course of action would be to buy plant-based milks and stand in the milk aisle giving them out for free as an alternative for the people who are there to buy milk. Thats more likely to change somebody’s habit than pouring milk everywhere, inconveniencing and alienating the people you want to convert.

endofthelinefinally · 16/10/2022 13:15

It is deeply insensitive and tone deaf. When so many people are struggling to afford food. Not the way to win hearts and minds.

OoooohMatron · 16/10/2022 13:16

Unbelievable arseholes. As PPs have said I'd have loved to see them do this in a working class area.

Emotionalmessy · 16/10/2022 13:17

I dont get why its just milk ? Theres obv lots of other products they can destroy in a supermarket.

PoundShopPrincess · 16/10/2022 13:19

I find the food waste really upsetting. We didn't have much money growing up. I've worked with people in real poverty who struggle to afford to eat. Seeing overprivileged prats wasting food is horrendous.
I wish the media would stop publicising them tbh. They're idiots who are more interested in getting their faces on the media than serious campaigners. They're showing they have no understanding of poverty or food security and no respect for other people or low-paid workers. It makes their expressed 'concern' about the planet/oil/animals seem insincere and performative. Caring people tend to care. These privileged arses only care about being disruptive. There's not even any through line on their campaigning.
Security should hold them. Police should arrest them. The media should have a blackout on their wastefulness.

HighlandPony · 15/10/2022 18:11

Haha is there any vegans in westerhailes? Can’t imagine them in that close proximity to cobbinshaw 🤣

I've found my people, clearly! I would also pay good money to see them try it...

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/10/2022 13:21

YANBU.. Its one thing and fine to have your beliefs. Its very much another and certainly not fine to force them on onto others. Pouring milk out ect ect, that's something a toddler wouldn't do.

fallinover · 16/10/2022 13:22

They are absolute spoilt brats and my family uses oat milk.
No one is going to be won over by this kind of stupid behavior.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 16/10/2022 13:24

Surely this is just counter productive because Waitrose will just have to order more milk mor quickly to make up for the destroyed milk?
