Milk pouring protest

What the fuck is wrong with these idiots?

https://twitter.com/rebelsanimal/status/1581251694444564486?s=46&t=rCJ8ncsUW4dOKMKpSOjI5w

So in a cost of living crisis what they've achieved is a) the waste of perfectly good milk and food (other shops they've poured milk over cheese and other dairy products that will now have to be chucked) and b) forcing underpaid and overworked retail staff to clear up their mess.

The entitlement from these absolute fuckwits is unbelievable.

Would be interested to know if dairy-free MNers agree with these particular protests?

Nothing a good hiding wouldn't sort

Anjo2011 · 15/10/2022 19:01

I was in our local M&S today when it happened. Milk was poured all over the pizza, random. In the actual aisle where the milk was it was poured all over the floor. I heard a member of staff say at least it was only milk they poured. I have no sympathy for the ‘activists’ . They are just making the lives of ordinary folk more difficult.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 15/10/2022 19:05

They all sound very middle class. Wonder if they’ve considered that non dairy milk/yoghurt etc is more expensive.
honestly if people want something to become less common they need to work at making it the cheapest/easiest option for people.

Kellie45 · 15/10/2022 19:09

What you have is a middle class cult of people who have never had to work for a living and have time for these daft protests which inconvenience others. Logical argument does not wash with these people as they are a brainwashed bunch of fanatics.

Discovereads · 15/10/2022 19:11

Kindofcrunchy · 15/10/2022 18:36

Dairy is animal abuse, whatever way you look at it 🤷‍♀️ annoying for the supermarket workers though I guess!

Utter rot. Not milking cows with udders full of milk causes them extreme pain and can cause mastitis and death by sepsis.

Another city idiot who has watched propaganda on YouTube.

AloysiusBear · 15/10/2022 19:12

Fucking wasters.

There have been milk shortages lately, such that ive struggled to buy fresh milk. My daughter needs it as part of a diet plan (no, plant based substitutes don't provide the same nutrition) and this is a colossal, short sighted waste. Hate thoughtless selfish people like this.

AloysiusBear · 15/10/2022 19:19

Honestly, having faced empty milk shelves a few times lately, if I'd seen them doing this I'd probably have punched them.

They are probably drinking a load of alternative nut milks etc which also have various negative environmental consequences. Uggggh this video has made me so so angry.

GlistersisnotGold · 15/10/2022 19:27

They are posh cunts just like the ones who have thrown soup at Van Gogh's Sunflowers painting.

I would like to see them doing community service shovelling shit or cleaning the fat bergs in sewers.

BorgQueen · 15/10/2022 19:28

I can’t understand why people are just stood there doing nothing. I’d be asking them what the hell do they think they’re doing, are citizens arrests not a thing any more? Where are the security guards?
What they are doing is disgusting, they are disgusting, over priveleged and over entitled.

People are frightened. Everyone’s a hero when there’s no crisis, but in real life when a group of people are behaving in an aggressive way that’s outside of the social norms it’s frightening to approach them because they might attack you.

I would tend to agree with you. Being vegan is a choice, my choice is not to be vegan. I don't need militant idiots forcing their social agenda on others.
It is incredibly narrow minded to think everyone should have the same opinion as you.
These fools rate similarly with the Stop Oil gang.
Whilst I agree change needs to the future generations and the environment, their methods of protest only serve to antagonise and do not create support for the cause.

Exactly. I have the greatest of respect for vegans and am trying to eat more plant based food myself, but twattish acts like this just alienate people.

There are people who are struggling to feed their families right now. To see food go to waste like this is awful.

girlmom21 · 15/10/2022 19:33

Surely they'd be much more respected, and probably productive, if they tried to educate rather than resorting to vandalism and general cuntishness.

Stand in the milk aisle and block the cows milk while you try and talk people into buying non-dairy, if you must, but Jesus Christ!

CentralLondonLife · 15/10/2022 19:35

Without milk production there would be very few cows in the UK (from a dairy farming family)

JudithHarper · 15/10/2022 19:37

People should pelt these pillocks glued to the road with tomatoes. When an emergency vehicle is involved, switch to coconuts.

Same with the milk morons. Open some plant milk and throw the containers at them.

Presumably that's the objective?!

Encouraging more food waste really isn't the point of the thread

You can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs.

These 'protests' would soon peter out if they had a taste of their own medicine.

ginnybag · 15/10/2022 19:44

They're the same idiots who were blockading Arla, amongst others, last year, stopping workers getting out to herds to milk them and forcing loaded tankers to stand outside the gates until the milk in them had to be dumped.

They've also been targeting McD's for the last 18 months, to try to force them into going completely plant based. This will, apparently, stop them contributing to rainforest deforestation for the meat for the burgers.... ignoring the fact that mcd's beef is all British or Irish already.

They absolutely are middle class uni drop outs who need a dose of reality, and this latest protest tactic is just sickening in the current climate.

Zosime · 15/10/2022 19:54

I don't see why the ones who glue themselves to roads and buildings can't just be left there. As my elderly mother says, they'll be wanting to go to the toilet at some point. Then they won't be looking so smug.

I have to admit, I'm not in favour of violence, but I was shocked to see one protester given a chair to sit on after smashing up a petrol pump because he was uncomfortable standing with his hand glued to it while an officer was removing the glue to free his hand without injury. I much prefer the method used by the French police of simply pulling their hands off the road. If I remember correctly, one officer said something along the lines of they shouldn't be doing it in the first place when one protester was wailing about their hand being hurt. 🤷‍♀️

waterlego · 15/10/2022 20:03

Presumably the cost of living crisis is just a headline to these people, not something they are actually facing in their daily lives. An appalling waste of food and certainly not something that makes me warm to their cause; quite the opposite.

Loics · 15/10/2022 20:04

I suppose that isn't violence, just not babying them as they face the consequences of their own actions!

Burgoo · 15/10/2022 20:07

It's what it is. They should be dealt with appropriately by the legal system and prosecuted for criminal damage. I am curious as to what they think they are achieving doing this, it comes across very child-like in many ways. I'd have just carried on getting my milk and walking on - not videoing it. Get a security guard on each end of the aisle, facing away from the offenders and stopping other people going into or watching down the aisle. Then call the police and get them taken out quietly.

The best way to extinguish the behaviour is to respond as quietly and without fuss as possible. They rely on people watching it. Starve them of the attention and they will have to give up.

JudgeRindersMinder · 15/10/2022 20:09

These arseholes just make me want to eat a big juicy steak In front of them…and I don’t generally eat much meat!
