To not change the bed sheets immediately…

... because they have a small amount of dried blood on them as my dog is in season.

My partner was furious when he realised that my Shih Tzu had left a small amount of period blood on our bedsheets. (Two dried spots, one the size of a 50p, one the size of a 20p). I was already in bed, tired having retuned from a week working away, and in the first few weeks of pregnancy.

Parter demanded that the sheets should be changed immediately, I said it would be fine til the morning, but if he wanted them changing that badly he should do it himself.

For context the dog is mine, I've had her since before we met and moved in together.

Not sure if I've set up voting or not but ...

YANBU - it's a small amount of dried blood, the sheets can be changed later or he can do it himself

YABU - that's gross, it's your dog, you should change the sheets immediately

This wouldn't bother me but my OH would be stripping the bed in his flamboyant manner. Never quite sure if he's changing the sheets or dancing flamenco.

silentpool · 14/10/2022 04:05

I wouldn't have pets on the bed any way but especially not while in season.

I would have changed the sheets for that and banned the dog going forward.

Avidreader69 · 14/10/2022 04:29

Truly awful. Change the sheets.

Gingernaut · 14/10/2022 05:00

YABU.

Eww

UnderCoverFieldAgent · 14/10/2022 05:11

YABU- that’s so gross 🤢 🤮 I can’t believe you even have to ask whether people want to sleep with dog’s period blood. Not OK @DoreensEatingHerSoreen

GraceandMolly · 14/10/2022 05:20

I would not want to sleep on stained sheets, but I don’t agree with your partner kicking off like that.

StClare101 · 14/10/2022 06:08

So gross. She’s your dog. You should have changed the sheets.

CarefreeMe · 14/10/2022 07:14

When I have been exhausted I have slept in period blood, baby wee and sick and all sorts.
I used to just shove a towel over it or sorted it in the morning.

However, I wouldn’t want anyone else sleeping in it.
At the very least I would have just taken the sheet off and replaced it in the morning.

If I was him I would have offered to do it myself though.

Paperdolly · 14/10/2022 07:15

Even a clean, well-cared-for dog can pick up parasites like fleas, ticks, and even mites. And those tiny pests aren’t above feasting on humans. Dogs can also transfer intestinal parasites like ringworm to their human companions

i hope your baby doesn’t develop allergies/hayfever. Pollen on dog fur agrivates this and if you’re too tired now you’ll be too tired to brush the dog out before bedtime after the baby arrives.

selfish.

Tumbleweed101 · 14/10/2022 07:45

Duvet cover I’d leave until morning unless near my face. Sheets I’d change that night, ditto pillows. I don’t let my dogs on my bed though and would probably be more worried about hair in the bed as I can’t stand pet hairs in bed rooms.

hellopicklesticks · 14/10/2022 08:08

That is absolutely vile. And get your damn dog spayed!

RedRec · 14/10/2022 08:23

Having dogs in your bed is gross full stop.

I bet she's one of these people who kisses her dog full tongues too 🤢

Lockheart · 14/10/2022 00:03

I'd have changed them just to get the stain out promptly, but honestly what do all these posters think will happen if you sleep in sheets with two spots of dried blood on? Forget the hackneyed and overused "grim" and nauseous emoji faces; quantify exactly what terrible - or not so terrible - things you think will happen if OP waits til morning to clean the sheets?

It's not ideal but it's not the end of the world either.

Thank goodness. I was beginning to think the whole world's population had changed into drama llamas. At least there's still some sane people out there!

R2G · 14/10/2022 12:51

Hard to judge on this one my dog sleeps in the bed. It gets a bit minging with the hair but worth it for the cuddles. If he wants them changed fine but he can do it?

bumpetybumpy · 14/10/2022 13:21

This can't be real. Ewwww

ThrowingSomeCrumbs · 14/10/2022 13:42

Why the hell isn't your dog spayed??

Pixiedust1234 · 14/10/2022 13:48

I'm still wanting to know how long it had been there considering DH had been in charge for a week.

Witchofthedales · 14/10/2022 14:05

🤢

AnwenDolly · 14/10/2022 16:08

You are unreasonable for:

  • Letting your dog in the bed that you share with your husband.
  • Not changing the bedclothes immediately your dog soiled them.
  • Being disrespectful towards your husband who is (presumably) prepared to tolerate your dog in his bed as long as it's not soiling the sheets with menstrual blood 🤢🤢🤮.
I'm not a particularly fussy person (we change our bed clothes every 10-14 days, which I know some people don't think is often enough), but I really think you need to consider your husband's reasonable distaste for dogiferous bed sheets.

Don’t most dog owners put their female dogs in a diaper or onesie when they are in season like that to prevent this very situation.

No. Most dog owners allow their bitches some dignity. Insane idea.

PoseyFlump · 14/10/2022 17:34

@AnwenDolly you admit to only cleaning your bedsheets every two weeks?

Eeww grim vile why aren't you spayed? Eeww grim vile why aren't you spayed? Rinse and repeat.

Calm down, dear. Once every couple of weeks is fine.
