To not change the bed sheets immediately…

... because they have a small amount of dried blood on them as my dog is in season.

My partner was furious when he realised that my Shih Tzu had left a small amount of period blood on our bedsheets. (Two dried spots, one the size of a 50p, one the size of a 20p). I was already in bed, tired having retuned from a week working away, and in the first few weeks of pregnancy.

Parter demanded that the sheets should be changed immediately, I said it would be fine til the morning, but if he wanted them changing that badly he should do it himself.

For context the dog is mine, I've had her since before we met and moved in together.

Not sure if I've set up voting or not but ...

YANBU - it's a small amount of dried blood, the sheets can be changed later or he can do it himself

YABU - that's gross, it's your dog, you should change the sheets immediately

I’m pretty relaxed about cleanliness and I’m not the sort to stress about mess, but dried dog blood in the bed is rancid.

Lalliella · 13/10/2022 23:25

Beyond grim. Your dog, your responsibility. Why should he have to tolerate that just because your standards are rock bottom?

MountainChalet · 13/10/2022 23:27

I couldn't even sleep with dog hair on my bedsheets nevermind dog blood.

Dexionmagic · 13/10/2022 23:32

I’d probably have changed them………But depends on…. Where the blood is, what time the sheet changing was ‘suggested’, how long it’d been there, whose side etc

I’d have been tempted to say if it was that much of an issue change them yourself/give us a hand changing them.

StrawberryPot · 13/10/2022 23:34

Bit gross - and my dogs sleep on my bed so I don't have particularly high standards.

Herejustforthisone · 13/10/2022 23:34

Parter demanded that the sheets should be changed immediately, I said it would be fine til the morning, but if he wanted them changing that badly he should do it himself.

He demanded his newly pregnant and exhausted wife change the sheets? Why didn’t the demanding fucker do it himself? I feel like that’s a bad omen.

DaughterofDawn · 13/10/2022 23:35

Don’t most dog owners put their female dogs in a diaper or onesie when they are in season like that to prevent this very situation.

Moveoverdarlin · 13/10/2022 23:36

How can people compare it to a tea or coffee stain???? You drink tea and coffee, it’s blood from a dog in season FFS.

Potat0soup · 13/10/2022 23:37

Doesn't bode well for co-parenting if he sees all this sort of thing as your job. He is not being unreasonable to want clean sheets but he's a dickhead to think it's your job. You live together. Whose fucking sheets are they even? Who bought them, who washed them? As we're saying it's your dog.

Sunnytwobridges · 13/10/2022 23:39

I love, love my dogs but that's gross. I would feel the same if a kid made some kind of mess in the bed as well. But since it's your dog you should change them and I feel like you would want to do it immediately regardless, it's not something I would feel comfortable letting sit til later. And i definitely wouldn't expect someone else to change the sheets.

Topgub · 13/10/2022 21:14

If you're not fussed and he wants them changed, he should change them.

This. It's not like you did it why didn't he just change them himself

Panjandrum123 · 13/10/2022 23:47

Another vote for why can’t he change the bed linen if he feels so strongly about it? Early pregnancy is very tiring as your body adapts.

Isausernameavailable · 13/10/2022 23:50

You are gross to have a dog on the bed.

Discovereads · 13/10/2022 23:50

It’s disgusting and it’s your dog, so you should change the sheets.

Discovereads · 13/10/2022 23:52

Topgub · 13/10/2022 21:14

If you're not fussed and he wants them changed, he should change them.

Nope. This leads to usually men not being fussed about dirty socks and pants on the floor, shaving hairs in the sink, dirty plates by the sink, dust bunnies rolling around the house and you cleaning HIS mess because you’re the one that is “fussed.”

Nope, your dog= your mess= you clean.

Phrenologistsfinger · 13/10/2022 23:59

It’s just a bit of blood! I wouldn’t change it either, whether it was mine or a dog’s.

blebbleb · 14/10/2022 00:00

Gross but he can change them himself if it's such an issue.

Lockheart · 14/10/2022 00:03

I'd have changed them just to get the stain out promptly, but honestly what do all these posters think will happen if you sleep in sheets with two spots of dried blood on? Forget the hackneyed and overused "grim" and nauseous emoji faces; quantify exactly what terrible - or not so terrible - things you think will happen if OP waits til morning to clean the sheets?

It's not ideal but it's not the end of the world either.

SleepingStandingUp · 14/10/2022 00:08

You've been away so it happened when you weren't there but his penis means he can't change the sheets, his tired pregnant partner must?

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/10/2022 00:16

Do you mean on top of the duvet and not touching your body? Definitely wouldn’t change the cover myself in that case.

Cantthinkofanewnameatm · 14/10/2022 00:17

I couldn’t have left it but he could change the sheets, it’s not rocket science.
I really wouldn’t allow a hitch in season on my bed anyway. Seriously consider having her spayed. Pyomtera is awful, my dog almost died from it and I wish I’d had her spayed before that happened.

Blueink · 14/10/2022 00:18

Not pleasant (but find dogs on the bed generally unhygienic and wouldn’t like any dog hair or saliva either) however I think he should be more supportive of you being in early pregnancy not make a drama (and change them himself if it doesn’t disturb you too much). YANBU.

Vegay · 14/10/2022 00:26

Although I would always have a dog neutered, if they weren't already, I don't think you are being in the slightest bit unreasonable. Unless the stain is where you put your face, then I'd change them. I love my dog sleeping on/in the bed with me.

Thistlelass · 14/10/2022 03:34

I'm with stressfordays on this 🤣 and I've had a bitch in season on my bed more than once 🙈

ChagSameachDoreen · 14/10/2022 03:46

Urgh.

I don't think I could sleep on a dog's period patch...
