I'm a bit low at the moment and very overwhelmed with work. Live alone so can be lonely. I do have some things to look forward to, but I want to recapture my love of home and life. Think clean sheets, the perfect cuppa and the perfect biscuit

Get a cat if you can. It's so lovely when they come to greet you as soon as they hear the door unlock.
Why are people posting about their husbands and children, heartwarming as it may be, when the OP has said they live alone and are often lonely.

quirkychick · 06/10/2022 17:27

I have spent a couple of weeks with the lurgy on the sofa. Being curled up with a blanket and cushions and crappy TV has helped. I am now looking forward to walking outside and enjoying the change of season. I have the opposite to you, op, I have a demanding dc with SEN, so look forward to a quiet cup of coffee or tea.

Some things that may make you feel welcomed at home:
Tea you like in a favourite cup
Cosy blankets and cushions on the sofa
Favourite dinner in the slow cooker, or easy ingredients to hand
Something non-taxing to look forward to: book or magazine to read, series to watch, music to listen to
Plan some evenings out, but have some ritual/routine if you are home that's about you and reassuring.

Mine is bizarre to me. I am a life long atheist and nothing in the last few months could convince me of a benign overlord.
However, the last few weeks I have taken to walking up to the church at the top of the road. It's is 950 years old and sitting with my thoughts, some of which are difficult, for half an hour makes a difference. I start by thinking of all the suffering that has gone on through that 950 years and yet its still here and here I am. Context I guess?

Mamaof2males · 06/10/2022 19:01

Hi OP what about an evening class or a trip to the cinema or something once every few weeks? Also slow cooker meal for when you get
home and a hot water bottle. What about a puzzle or embroidery or crochet or a book club? X

queenofthewild · 06/10/2022 19:07

Cow biscuits!

Not the greatest biscuit in the world, but they used to give them out at preschool when I was 3. Finding one in the biscuit tin takes me straight back to childhood.

Lorrymum · 06/10/2022 19:09
