I don't think I'm being unreasonable. She's put everything out there to safeguard children in the face of vile misogyny and cowardice from many of her fellow writers.

She also always has beautiful hair.

Cw, the rates of pre-existing trauma and abuse are higher in adolescents who identify as transgender than in other adolescents.

The rates of autism are very much higher.

Both of those are linked to higher suicidality.

You cannot simply attribute mental health problems in transgender youth to whether their transgenderism is accepted.

She's fucking incredible and I do think the tide is turning now that people are starting to realise what she actually said and what was happening to make her say it. She was never trying to deny trans people's existence or expression, she just knew exactly where things end up when you say that any male who says he's a woman is one, and prisons, sports, changing rooms and everywhere else needs to open wide and swallow. She also sees what's up when jillions of depressed and autistic girls are turning up not wanting to be female any more, and confused children get sterilised for an ideology as a first course of action.

Plus she literally chooses not to be a billionaire because of her charity work.

Belief in biological sex and finding the idea of children at risk of suffering irreversible harm due to puberty blockers worrisome is a prejudice.

And for me - however a path which leads to irreversible medicalisation (which will never cure the route cause I.e "wrong body ") of a young persons body must also be addressed seriously

I've been watching your posts lately. I've never seen anything other than "you're transphobes" and "you're prejudiced", with absolutely no reasoning, substance or rebuttal.

I can't figure out why you're here. If you had some sort of facts or reasoning behind you, you'd have surely produced them by now. I'm glad you're here, because every post further emphasises the fact that you have nothing to support your witless insults, but I do wonder what you get out of it.

It's apparently too awful for anyone to quote verbatim. Grin

I've been on countless threads like this where her statement was linked right there and people who were denouncing her were asked to point out where she said the Awful Things. Very nicely and lots of times.

And nobody ever can. You just usually called some insult and screamed at to "do your own research, you ancient transphobic hag!!" and so the thread continues in that circle.

And that is peaking a lot of people. Because they go direct to the horse's mouth to see what the Awful Thing is, can't bloody well find it!

Have you read the stats on suicide and attempted suicide rates among trans individuals, they are exceptionally high and most cite lack of support, understanding and access to medical provision as a large reason for that. For me, that's a decision that needs to be made between medical providers, parents and absolutely I do think young people need and deserve to be consulted and their views taken into consideration. I've worked with a large number of actively suicidal young people who when they opened up about being trans and accessing supports like binders etc their suicide attempts stop. For me if it's deemed safe and appropriate for them to access puberty blockers by medical professionals until they are able to access the relevant counselling then yes I'd rather they stayed alive in the first instance to then get the option of deciding whether or not to proceed. But by taking away options, we are increasing suicidal ideation and driving young people to unregulated meds which does god knows how much damage. I'm not saying the system is prefect- it needs massively overhauled in terms of how gender identity is addressed and better support available but working within what's currently on the table I think we're between a rock and a hard place. I don't think anyone is telling kids they are wrong or needing fixing... but when a young person is in so much distress that they'd rather die than continue as they are that needs to be addressed seriously.

I can't find the article now, but there's also evidence that children have been coached online to say they are suicidal in order to get what they want. I'll post it if I find it again.

You should really do some of your own research outside of the trans bubble as most of the info you get from them is ridiculously biased, if not completely wrong.
