So we watch strictly with our kids on a Sunday as the Saturday show goes on a bit late. We record the late night rerun with the sign language.
my daughter put the recording on this morning, there was a bit of the previous show on before it, and before I know it, there’s a bloke lying on a bed, naked from the waist down, with his penis attached to some kind of truss.
I ran for the remote, but my girls saw enough to be absolutely horrified. And I feel utterly terrible that they’ve been exposed to that sort of image.
MY AIBU is- should the BBC not be much more conscious of what they put on straight before a strictly rerun, because even though it’s on late, it’s a family show so could very conceivably be recorded by a family to be watched by children, especially as this is the sign language version, so some families would only watch this version.
Im so appalled and have made a complaint. Don’t know how I could predicted this but maybe I am BU and it’s my cock up (so to speak).
AIBU?
A penis straight before the Strictly late night rerun- AIBU?

Sky box, I don’t choose when to start the recording.. can I? I don’t know about downloading files but I guess I’ll do the iplayer thing in future

Your kids were created by a man being on his back with his dick in a truss?
I'd suggest Ops boundaries on child exposure to weird male behaviour is perfectly grown up

Heaven forbid your children ever find out how they were created……. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 grow up

they are under 10, I am not asking about whether it was unreasonable for them to be freaked out by the sight of a man lying with his penis in a truss and his foreskin stretched it, everyone’s got their own boundaries, just whether that should’ve been on straight before the sign language showing of a family show.
consensus is that I’m BU which is fine, and I will use another way to access that showing in future!

I wouldn’t want my kids seeing that either but nor would I be complaining to the BBC and about it either.

Just to be clear the programme before was NOT hardcore porn or cock torture. It was about the very controversial topic of routine male circumcision and specifically about the measures some men take to try and reverse the procedure, including foreskin stretching. It is pretty horrifying to see but then so is the routine mutilation of baby boys being completely normalised in the USA.

Okay but that isn't the point. And do kids under 10 need to watch medical circumcision to learn that it is wrong to do that to baby boys? Why is that even relevant? 😂

The programme was broadcast at 1.10am!! No kids under 10 should be watching and their parents need to check any recordings made at this time. I've given OP a work-around now anyway so she won't need to record the programme in the future.
