AIBU?

A penis straight before the Strictly late night rerun- AIBU?

So we watch strictly with our kids on a Sunday as the Saturday show goes on a bit late. We record the late night rerun with the sign language.
my daughter put the recording on this morning, there was a bit of the previous show on before it, and before I know it, there’s a bloke lying on a bed, naked from the waist down, with his penis attached to some kind of truss.
I ran for the remote, but my girls saw enough to be absolutely horrified. And I feel utterly terrible that they’ve been exposed to that sort of image.

MY AIBU is- should the BBC not be much more conscious of what they put on straight before a strictly rerun, because even though it’s on late, it’s a family show so could very conceivably be recorded by a family to be watched by children, especially as this is the sign language version, so some families would only watch this version.

Im so appalled and have made a complaint. Don’t know how I could predicted this but maybe I am BU and it’s my cock up (so to speak).

It was called How To with John Wilson, I still have no idea what the hell it was about.

If it was after the watershed it’s not a problem.

not everything in life can be planned around what you want it to be. This is ridiculous. Watch it on iplayer.

The clue would be in the “late night” timing. It’s on you that you didn’t ensure the recording was only watched from the start of the show you wanted your kids to see

I believe a man was trying to stretch his foreskin- from a brief Google.

Yabu. It was late night tv.

It's a late night replay after watershed. It's your responsibility to ensure it's appropriate for your children - not the BBC. Don't be so utterly ridiculous.

Er no, the BBC shouldn’t have to consider your kids after the watershed. Obviously

Can you not access the sign language edition on Iplayer?

For me it is a real yabu/yanbu moments. It's both imo.

Why don’t you record the earlier version? Is it that you need the sign language? If so maybe vet it in future before your kids watch. The BBC is not being U showing adult programmes at an appropriate time, no.

No yabu I'm afraid and the kids don't need to be horrified if you don't make a big song and dance about it

Here’s me coming here cause I thought you were asking if it was ok to get the D before strictly. Disappointed 🤣

What time and channel was it on? Nerdy question because although the How to programme is on iplayer it doesnt appear to be on the schedules?
And yes I know I dont NEED to know but its bugging me that I cant spot it!

I will use iplayer in future for the sign language edition. We almost never use it, I really never considered the risk of seeing a man trying to stretch his foreskin before a strictly rerun, but seems like that was me being naive.

I think YABU, sorry. I wouldn’t automatically consider anything I’d recorded after the watershed completely safe. Especially not when iPlayer exists.

Just googled what that show was all about and completely missed the point of this thread

I'm sorry that happened OP, I would think the same as you especially since it was the signed one. Glad you complained as it might not have crossed anybody's mind. I doubt it will change anything but it won't harm to try.

Of all the programmes in all the world.. it had to be that one. Wonder what the odds were. Maybe its lottery ticket time 😅

I did the same thing op!
Wondered WTF I'd recorded!

I can’t say anything but YABU because it’s 2022 and you don’t need to record anything

I record programmes off 'live' tv because I like to fast forward through all the waffle and fast forwarding in iplayer etc is a pain in the arse because the picture stays still whilst you skip so you have to guess where to stop.

I think I'd rather see someone's foreskin being stretched than watch Strictly anyway Grin

But yes, iPlayer next time perhaps!

It's just a penis. I'm sure we've all seen one. Some of us might have even touched a few... I'm not sure why all the pearl clutching.
