Jack Monroe off Twitter

The latest in the ongoing saga is that JM has left Twitter after being 'hounded off'. The incident that seemed to provoke this...someone critiquing a photo of her mums roast potatoes. It just gets more and more bizarre.

To be clear, I don't like to see public pile ons and some of the abuse directed at Jack has been unpleasant. But a lot has also been reasonable, polite requests for information regarding her patreon which have largely been totally ignored. And her supporters have to be some of the most cruel people on Twitter. It seems like it's fine for JM to voice her opinion but as soon as others do the same they are called out for bullying. And ironically subjected to vile comments from her followers. Go figure.

Am I the only one who thinks she's probably best having a little Twitter break? But eventually if she's ever to redeem her reputation she needs to show some transparency regarding public donations.

Why engage? Just rise above and carry on. They'll get bored if you stop interacting and starting a dialogue with them

A lot of them aren't even trolls. They are people asking very valid questions not just mindlessly abusing her.

Those potatoes and Yorkshires both look like they were cooked in an air fryer or an Easy-Bake oven. Needed more heat.

People who’ve been caught out in untruths sometimes like to act the victim. Maybe that’s her/their motivation? Bullied off Twitter, poor JM, etc?

Bullying is wrong and the roasties aren’t that bad, but the inconsistencies in JM’s stories need answering if JM is going to continue to ask for money and write about how poor she is.

Seen JM popped back to twitter to try to get a parody account removed. Good luck with that. There are many parody accounts, some with huge followings so why would JM be treated differently by twitter?

She’s set her flying monkeys on to the parody account too.
To be honest if she’s worried that people might mistake the parody account for her genuine account, it says a lot about the content she posts 😂

The term ‘flying monkeys’ is so accurate for her weird fans.

She does a lot of piling on herself. Quite knowingly and deliberately. She's said publicly about loving a closed account and sending her flying monkeys.

She seems to seek out negative comments sometimes for whatever reason, where it would make far more sense not to give them oxygen.

She instigates multiple pile ons. She’s even tweeted about sending her ‘flying monkeys’ to pile on to anyone who disagrees with her. She actively encourages it, and anyone who calls her out on anything receives absolutely vile abuse from her followers. Many end up deactivating, which she relishes.
People just want her to be transparent and accountable. If she answered any of the legitimate questions, a lot of the shit she gets would stop.

She reminds me of that little bellend Owen Jones; insecure, vindictive, and loves a pile on as long as it’s someone else.

Unsurprisingly, Owen Jones is a big supporter of hers.

I do wonder if the potato farce was meant to distract from the fundraising questions.

Or maybe to mess with search results so people would find stuff about someone "picking on" her disabled mum, instead of finding stuff about her apologising to someone after she created a pile on him after misunderstanding his tweet, (told him to fuck himself and go touch grass, which looked especially bad given he was disabled & in a care home), which if she'd spent 2 minutes looking at his profile she'd have seen, plus an earlier tweet that would have shown that his history was supportive on trans rights, so clearing up his intentions on the offending tweet.

It's all "you never know what someone else is going through" and #be kind, but she doesn't operate that way herself.

She's been really snarky with a few on Instagram.

One follower asked her how she could afford a specialised groomer for her dog .. he'd donated £50 to her previously
