The latest in the ongoing saga is that JM has left Twitter after being 'hounded off'. The incident that seemed to provoke this...someone critiquing a photo of her mums roast potatoes. It just gets more and more bizarre.

To be clear, I don't like to see public pile ons and some of the abuse directed at Jack has been unpleasant. But a lot has also been reasonable, polite requests for information regarding her patreon which have largely been totally ignored. And her supporters have to be some of the most cruel people on Twitter. It seems like it's fine for JM to voice her opinion but as soon as others do the same they are called out for bullying. And ironically subjected to vile comments from her followers. Go figure.

Am I the only one who thinks she's probably best having a little Twitter break? But eventually if she's ever to redeem her reputation she needs to show some transparency regarding public donations.

I can't believe this thread is still running, to 16 pages!?! Seriously, who is that invested in JM to care THIS much?! I worry about her health and the fact she might be reading this thread and it is v much bullying and if it was any other celeb MN would've deleted by now!
Why is this allowed when any other thread of a similar nature needs to be "looked into" etc for trolling issues?!

I think it's legit to discuss and be critical of public figures. You've got to remember they are making their living from their audiences, and their audiences deserve some accountability from them, it can't just be a one-way flow of uncritical adulation and money.

I disagree that it's bullying - if JM chooses to seek out and read online criticism, that would be her choice. Bullying would involve seeking her out to attack her.

Applesandcarrots · 23/11/2022 22:58

Of course people are interested... Characters like this of course gain interest. I mean like look at hits like Tinder swindler or Making of Anna....

Aww, I saw your username and thought it might be a funny reference to this picture Jack posted of herself on Instagram, then I read your comment. Never mind.

Because she still hasn't accounted for money raised for charity.

She still hasn't provided any content for her patreons.

She's still knowingly taking money off those that can't afford to give.

She still claims to be living in poverty, by saying things like she hasn't got lightbulbs or had a shower in forever or (bizarrely) has no shwe gel so needs to boil down soap.

Againstmachine · 24/11/2022 07:29

Because if you want to make a living out of faking poverty you are going to get called out.

Oh and jack is happy with bullying, she did it to a disabled man who asked her a question, and then sent her followers after them.

So you condone what she's done then? Of course people are invested, some donated money to her in good faith and now feel totally mugged off by all the poverty cosplaying. She has been proven a liar time and time again. She is now ignoring the swathes of very polite and genuine questions that she needs to answer and basically threatening suicide. It's not harassment to want to know where charitable donations have gone. And it's certainly not bullying to call out this sort of thing. However I'm the subject of bullying JM and her followers are the worst! The pile ons she instigates, her followers sending death threats to anyone who dares to challenge her and let's not forget her telling a disabled man in a care home to 'fuck off and go touch the grass'.

Honestly you're either quite clueless about the whole thing or quite dim. Sorry.

One good thing I have just remembered (after my criticisms), is that she got Asda to put their smart price food items lowered in response to a tweet she sent out. For that I am grateful as I do eat a lot of the smart price stuff.

Did she? Which tweet was that then?

No, she didn’t

I remember when it happened because I started to see the price changes in asda and was shocked that they actually lowered it.

This popped into my head yesterday. It doesn't take away all bad stuff she had done and I was critical of her upthread so I'm not here to just dump a good deed.

She has time and time again, represented herself as living in abject poverty whilst linking to pay pal. She's collected a substantial salary from patron but not provided anything for it. And she raised money for legal action she never took.
It's not bullying to ask for transparency and accountability

SweetSakura · 24/11/2022 08:02

Oh and I forgot about the lack of clarity over what charity the teemill money went to.

So that's at least 4 different types of highly questionable ways to raise money. And she has failed to be at all transparent about any of them

She's lucky if she just gets a social media storm and not a fraud investigation

That's not what happened. ASDA at evening PR friendly there.
Jack:
"She added that in her local Asda, the cheapest bag of pasta was no longer a 29p bag from the Smart Price range but an own-brand version costing 70p – a 141% price rise."

She went to her local Southend Asda and there was no Smart Price pasta or Spaghetti.
She tweeted that ASDA had removed them..
Someone went to the same Asda a day or so after and found the shelves restocked completely.
It was a short term supply issue.
ASDA fixed the issue and politely ',took on board JM comments' they didn't act because of her comments.
All this is tracked, backed up and verified if you know where to look.

It's this kind of misinformation and lack of research that makes people believe the lies she spouts.

Same as the ONS stuff. She claimed regular meetings.. an FOI proved 1 informal chat.
Same as the special squad of Essex cops that monitor her twitter.. one foi request proved no such squad exists.

Don't believe a word she says, always look deeper.

Emotionalsupportviper · 24/11/2022 08:37

I can't believe that you feel the need to police a thread @shrunkenhead . Or that a you worry about the health of someone who has lived very well indeed off the suffering of others, and who has no real interest in how poorer members of society are managing, except in that it funds her own (apparently very comfortable) lifestyle.

Obviously people are invested. Many have been suspicious of Jack for a very long time, and have tried to point out the inconsistencies in her stories time and again and have been shut down and brushed aside.

Are you saying that people who lie, and grift, and effectively cheat others - often very vulnerable others - shouldn't be brought to task for it in case it makes them ill? Where would the line be drawn? Just grifters, like Jack? MLM promoters who push overpriced tat onto people they know can't afford it? Con artists who steal pension funds?

What about actual physical assaults on other people? Should they be ignored if the perpetrator threatens self-harm?

The person affecting Jack's mental health is Jack.

She has had opportunities that many people would give their eye teeth for and has thrown them away in favour of being the Voice of the Downtrodden - except she isn't; she's just a very clever and manipulative self-promotor. I think someone said upthread that she is her own brand (not quite in those words). Everything she says and does is aimed at keeping that brand in the public eye and selling it extensively.

I do feel sorry for her in that I think she's a very unhappy woman, but I also think that she has brought all of her unhappiness upon herself. She will never be content because she will never have as much money, adulation and attention as she craves.

Applesandcarrots · 24/11/2022 08:39

I was about to post something similar after I had researched the "ins-and-outs". I could remember reading about this some time ago, but didn't have the facts to hand the way you have presented them - thank you.

I'd also point out that any price change in any product - up or down - isn't something that happens overnight in national organisations. There are meetings and discussions and financial projections which often take months to decide and implement, so when she claims a victory in these areas it will be something that was already in the pipeline and she has been lucky with timing (as in the supply situation above).

WaddleAway · 24/11/2022 08:44

Yes, it wasn’t that long ago that any thread even mildly critical of her was immediately removed.
One of the reasons she’s managed to continue her grift for so long.

IrmaGord · 24/11/2022 08:51

That Guardian article also talks about Schrödingers Vimes Boots Index so I'd take the whole thing with a pinch of salt. As far as I know it doesn't exist yet, but a lot of Jack's flying monkeys always cite it as part of the 'she's done a lot of good stuff' mythology.

WhoWants2Know · 24/11/2022 08:53

Earlier in the week, The Guardian advertised tickets to this livestream event. They received a torrent of comments asking about Teemill and Patreon and questioning why they would give her a platform. The tweet was subsequently deleted and the event was cancelled.

I think that most of the people posting here and elsewhere genuinely want to protect people from investing money in someone who won't deliver what's promised. But there will always be those who see a bandwagon and ride it too far.

She didn’t. She really really didn’t. She saw something out of stock in HER Asda and kicked up a stink. (But was available in other stores and online)
A week later the whole issue was fixed nationally. If you think supply chains for supermarkets work like that you need to have a hard think about it.
She won’t correct this error, it’s like the ONS, she takes credit happily for others work and it makes her look like she does something.

She absolutely did not.

Do you honestly think that a national supermarket changes it prices at such short notice because a good blogger said so? No, the decision was already made, and her timing of her comments made it look like they reacted to her...she said they did. They said they didn't all they acknowledged was they took onboard her comments.... That's not the same thing as her "getting Asda to out their smart price food items lowered"

It was all part of the yellow label marketing plan

Because she wanted you to think it was because of her. It’s the narrative she pushed, even though she knew it wasn’t true. Same with the ONS stuff. Happily liking tweets congratulating her for her ‘work’, knowing it was absolutely nothing to do with her.
