Jack Monroe off Twitter

The latest in the ongoing saga is that JM has left Twitter after being 'hounded off'. The incident that seemed to provoke this...someone critiquing a photo of her mums roast potatoes. It just gets more and more bizarre.

To be clear, I don't like to see public pile ons and some of the abuse directed at Jack has been unpleasant. But a lot has also been reasonable, polite requests for information regarding her patreon which have largely been totally ignored. And her supporters have to be some of the most cruel people on Twitter. It seems like it's fine for JM to voice her opinion but as soon as others do the same they are called out for bullying. And ironically subjected to vile comments from her followers. Go figure.

Am I the only one who thinks she's probably best having a little Twitter break? But eventually if she's ever to redeem her reputation she needs to show some transparency regarding public donations.

I don't know if it's been mentioned on here, but, if you look anywhere in Jack's SM she often shares photos.

The bungalow, has stairs.
There's tons of expensive furniture all through it.
The stools in one picture are like £300 a pair.
There's a drawer full of pricey door knobs and the like. Tons of photos of high end knives.
She isn't poor, she's what some middle class people like to think poor people are.
But I've heard the audio of what she really thinks and that was enough to put me off her for life.

"I'm middle class, well educated young woman..you don't think it happens to normal people."
So anything beyond her middle class educated background is abnormal to her.
Poverty cosplaying sanctimonious internet bully.

She probably thinks she's poor because in comparison to the media & exec set she's mixing with, she is. Like these people on MN who puff on about how they're struggling on salaries twice the national average.

So she's back on Twitter? I haven't caught up!

I don't know much about dogs, but I do think (as the fluffy account mentions) some of the behaviour, particularly from a blue tick account, is questionable and not very dignified.

That's probably it. She's poor because her furniture is only £5000 and comes from Oak Furniture land and isnt bespoke hand crafted. Meanwhile actual poor people, like me, don't have sofa or carpets and the furniture we do have is second hand Kallax and Billy bloody bookcases from IKEA.

Not exactly - she's changed her profile a bit on Twitter I think, plus tried to get people reporting the parody account, but otherwise not posting from her main account.

The parody account is still on twitter, so that fraud’s attempts to get it taken down failed.

I think she cosplays 'edgy' as much as she cosplays poverty. She is pretty Fiat500 underneath it all. All those smiley selfies at corporate bashes and "quick weekend away in Amsterdam don't mind if I do" instagrams.

She appears to be back on Twitter, predictably.

I noticed she sets her tweets so only people she follows can reply. That echo chamber is probably contributing to her problems; she only follows people who fawn over her, so she doesn't get a true reaction to her tweets. Then she can't handle it when she hears other opinions.

I am more suprised she retweeted aome actual advice than that she is back. Maybe there was some self reflection time about her "niche"

It's worse than that. There's a good chance she's buying her only followers. At least 10% of them are fake by all accounts and only 4% are actually verified on twitter.

I see someone has posted about her followers having no followers and following hardly anyone.

They are all fawning over her return and sending sickly memes.

Just based on the photos she's shared in socials, her house so far is full of over £72000 worth of 'Stuff' from Cotswolds furniture to designer stools, expensive clothes and shoes etc.

Yet she claimed not long go she was so broke she was boiling soap..

Oh yep she lives the high life while pretending to be poor, I remember seeing her on a program about 10 years ago and, it was all about me back then, she hasn't changed.

She is threatening legal action again. I'm not sure if it's against awfully molly but if so I'm not sure how she can call libel when it's all her own contradictory words on display 🙈

What is up with her followers? I made one little comment to her about her recipes, that they were more style than substance, and suddenly I had hordes of agitated people on my case! They were worse than TRAs!

I do often wonder if some of the more aggressive flying monkeys are in fact Jack herself. Pure speculation of course, please don't sue me Jack 😂

I think her followers have something similar to the sunk cost fallacy, where they can't face admitting they were conned by her so instead they double down and attack any suggestion she isn't actually poor and worthy.
