Well, I knew that already, but every day she shocks me with the heights her deluded self-confidence goes to

Liz Truss had to be convinced to issue statement amid market turmoil after mini-budget

Happy with yourselves conservative members? Tax cuts for rich people whilst everyone else suffers with higher mortgages and high rents?
Truss voters are mainly retired ,white, from the Home Counties with good pensions , who’s only bothered about getting bigger interest rates for their savings accounts?
Fuck millions of under 50s who have decades of poverty or a lower standard of living ahead of us.
She said what’s she’s do and you voted for her.

the80sweregreat · 30/09/2022 10:13

Dave20
Precisely
If this was a Starmer government it would be the headlines for the daily Mail every single day
Instead we have to just put up with it. Even those who will be benefit from these cuts are not that happy ( not all, but according to mumsnet there are a few around !)
I guess we will have to see what happens
It's not looking great.

But common sense says you can’t have internet rates at 1 % or less for a around decade or so, when shoot them up to 6% within a year.
People can’t cope with such a steep rise in so little time.People won’t have the budgets to pay for those rates..

What part of they don’t care aren’t you understanding?

Novum · 30/09/2022 10:23

Explaintome · 30/09/2022 08:14

Surely the party won't let her call an election now? It would be carnage.

Unless they really do want to give up and hand this disaster to someone else

It may be that more old school conservatives will indeed perceive that an election is basically the only way to get the extreme right and the idiots out. We're in this situation because Johnson kicked out anyone with any ability or conscience, so in many respects they need to get his appointees out of the way and start again.

Dave20 · 30/09/2022 10:30

I spoke to a work colleague recently and at first I thought what a load of bullshit.
But he said the government agenda is to force people to sell their homes , ie raise interest rates so the banks own the houses.

This was two weeks ago, before the mini budget.

He said Black Rock will basically own everyone’s property’s.

I don’t believe in conspiracy theories but look at what’s coming. Maybe they’re is something in this..

Dave20 · 30/09/2022 10:32

The government is made up of right wing millionaires. They don’t a shit about anything apart from protecting their mates in the square mile. Has this not dawned on people for fucks sake ??
Why isn’t there more outrage about this? So we all just sit and allow this to happen? Yes because that’s exactly what we’ll all do in the UK.

And that will save us in the end. It seems that some city traders are planning to vote Labour because if the economy crashes they lose out even more than you and me. Be thankful for their greed, ironically in this instance it helps us.

ReformedWaywardTeen · 30/09/2022 10:49

I personally think they've cocked up so badly now, it's a case of Rob as much as possible for their mates and lose the election. They can then wander off and let Labour or a Lab/Lib co team try and wade through what is left of the country.

They don't want to win next time. Because that would mean trying to sort out their own mess.

That way, when another election rolls around, and Labour haven't been able to come close to sorting things, they and the media will be all "see, Labour can't do anything, everything is a mess". And the same people who believed Boris' crap will fall for it again with another no doubt just as moronic twit

Dave20 · 30/09/2022 10:56

Boris who lied throughout his whole life. Little Bojo who’s life ambition was to be king of the world.
The man who lies throughout his entire life. Can’t even say how many kids he’s got. Probably because he’s not sure himself. Lied in every job he had. He was propped up as mayor of London, by his team.
He was exposed as a liar as PM.
But was voted for because he was mildly amusing once or twice.

And now Truss. The woman who would sell her own granny if it means getting what she wants.
Shes not only dangerous but she’s incompetent. Which makes her even more dangerous.

People don't care though
I see this everyday at work , my colleagues are either the ' I'm alright Jack ' types or just in it for themselves. They laugh at the young , they have the empathy of a ant and generally do not care
about anyone out of their bubble.
I include my own Dh in this , although he cares about family and has been a 'worked all my life ' type because he has. It doesn't mean you can't have any sympathy or empathy for other people who haven't had the advantages that he has had and we are not mega rich. He just was lucky to have a safe secure job and unions who fought for some decent wages etc and a decent education to carry out a good job. Not everyone has this and this is bring eroded for others
I find it soul destroying how self absorbed people are ( on the whole )
Or maybe I'm just surrounded by them!

reesewithoutaspoon · 30/09/2022 11:31

A lot of people just don't have the energy, they're so ground down with surviving day-to-day that they don't see the pointing protesting, or writing to MP's because nothing ever changes, no matter who is in power.
It's bread and circuses. As long as people can eat and there's something entertaining they won't revolt.
You need a tipping point. Something that galvanizes people.
Maybe this coming winter will be it. When people are freezing and starving and even those who were previously comfortable and felt no need to protest are now find themselves struggling.

Really?

CPL593H · 30/09/2022 12:25

I'm lucky enough to have a house owned outright (well, me and DH) I genuinely feel sick to my stomach for people who are trying to pay a mortgage or rent at the moment, already being hammered by the increases in fuel/food/petrol and everything else as well as anticipating vastly increased housing costs.

We're not all greedy Tories.

Abhannmor · 30/09/2022 13:05

I only voted Tory to get Brexit done = I only read The Sun for the football.

Dave20 · 30/09/2022 13:25

Wealth doesn’t trickle down. It didn’t work when Ronald Reagan tried it and hasn’t worked here either.
Listen to what Labour and the trade unions are saying. Bosses of large companies do not pass their profits on.

Croque · 30/09/2022 14:07

Exactly, "Wealth doesn’t trickle down" ... mostly urine does and somebody is taking the piss at the expense of the electorate. 🙁

Forgottenwhatsleepis · 30/09/2022 14:12

User98866 · 27/09/2022 21:10

So they have given themselves a month to come up with some vast spending cuts. Can you imagine if Labour put forward a completely un costed economic plan? This party is beyond a joke. If I were a backbencher I’d be walking.

My MP's a backbencher... he'd still be brown-nosing 🙄 12 years he's ruled our Borough, brown-nosed every PM and still isn't in the Cabinet 🤣

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 30/09/2022 14:44

There may have been something to trickle down economics 50 years ago but not now. Too much wealth is being creamed off the top by big businesses before it's getting the chance to trickle down. The gap between the wage of a worker and the salary of the owner of that company is much much bigger these days than it was in say the 1960s for example.

Exactly this. And Mick Lynch of the RMT union has been making this very point.
The media then portray him to be ‘militant’.
Why? Because they don’t want him to tell the truth?..

Apparently being fed up of big bosses taking the piss out of workers for the last 40/50 years makes the unions militant.

I hope the Enough is Enough campaign gets even bigger because at the moment they are the only voice for for Joe Bloggs.

the80sweregreat · 30/09/2022 16:38

I like Mick lynch a lot. I know his 'marmite ' and a leaver etc but he actually talks sense and sticks to the narrative.
The strikes are unfortunate and I get why Labour isn't supporting them , but ML is sticking up for his workers and that shows integrity to call out the bosses as he does.
People don't like him because he speaks the truth

Sex pest Odey deserves to be doing time but instead he fills his boots with our cash. Time for a bit of class war.
