Well, I knew that already, but every day she shocks me with the heights her deluded self-confidence goes to

Liz Truss had to be convinced to issue statement amid market turmoil after mini-budget

I’d seriously rather BoJo than Truss (not a Tory).

Maybe they can speed up the leadership election process this time around, now that they have had plenty of practice.

MrsElm · 27/09/2022 21:29

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/09/2022 21:27

Plenty of time to get another leadership election in before calling a general election. At least 2 I would say.

The Tories should not be allowed to choose another PM! They have already given us Boris and Liz!

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 27/09/2022 21:29

I wonder what the alternate reality would be had JC won last time
Out?

Quveas · 27/09/2022 21:30

Governed by an idiot? Same old, same old.

icelolly12 · 27/09/2022 21:30

I'm so angry that everything they are doing is to benefit themselves, not the people or the country or the environment. After everything we've been through- austerity, Covid, Brexit and now all they want to do is loot the last of the goods for themselves and their mates and give nothing, literally nothing back, just destroy what's left of our public services. Self serving bastards. hey can go to hell.

They say some MPs are already sending in letters of no confidence.

Wouldn't it be ironic, given her name, if she lost all support?

itsgettingweird · 27/09/2022 21:32

Explaintome · 27/09/2022 21:13

I've always wondered, it's the chancellor's budget, how much input does the PM get?

I'm not disputing this is a disaster and she's ultimately in charge, but will this be her plan or is her mistake that she gave it to the wrong man?

Good question.

But she's PM so I believe she has final day on what happens. I'm sure Sunak defended some decisions he made by indicating he had to make them rather than it's what he would have done.

But I would be interested to know one way or another.

But yes a I guess ultimately either way she's made a bad decision.

Shouting matches between Truss and Kwarteng already? Sounds like panic is setting in. Which is probably fully justified.

Shortjanet · 27/09/2022 21:33

It's ridiculous isn't it? The Tory party membership is a tiny proportion of the population and they've saddled us with yet another hopeless PM. Total madness at this point. How she can possibly consider herself to have a mandate to pull this crazy shit is beyond me. I know we are an apathetic country generally but how long before real protests start?

calling her an idiot is really not nice, very insensitive to idiots

🤣🤣🤣

Lzzyisgod · 27/09/2022 21:33

Perhaps they are betting on who can achieve the shortest premiership in history?

I dunno. I thought the lunatics took over the asylum years ago .. ... turns out I was wrong and now they finally have

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 27/09/2022 21:33

When were we ever not ruled by idiots? All the talent in this country and we accept these sneaky, snidey snoopies.

RiftGibbon · 27/09/2022 21:34

People thought her predecessor was an idiot. It seems to take a very specialised type of idiot to be PM, and to be so appalling at doing anything for the benefit of the majority of the country whilst ensuring that the rich continue to get richer.

They both wrote Britannia Unchained so they're on the same page.

Firstbornunicorn · 27/09/2022 21:36

How the actual fuckity fuck do they keep winning elections???

The pool of talentless idiots among Tory MPs is very deep at the moment. I bet they can find a bigger idiot than Truss.

Novum · 27/09/2022 21:37

User98866 · 27/09/2022 21:10

So they have given themselves a month to come up with some vast spending cuts. Can you imagine if Labour put forward a completely un costed economic plan? This party is beyond a joke. If I were a backbencher I’d be walking.

What leaves me gobsmacked is that they think it's OK to leave everything in chaos for a month whilst they try to come up with some ideas to stabilise the market. Which in reality means that, even if their measures work, there will be still more chaos whilst they are put into effect. And if they don't work, god help us all.

Some might think that you come up with your plans to stabilise the market before you do something that will destabilise it radically, not a month later. But obviously that is too sensible for Truss and Kwarteng.

itsgettingweird · 27/09/2022 21:38

I thought Josh Widdecombe summed it up perfectly on the last legs

"I actually think Truss needs to say. They just keep feeling worse We had Cameron, May, Boris <whilst doing a hands going under each other> and now Truss. I don't want to see how low we can go!"

icelolly12 · 27/09/2022 21:39

Gives their mates time to buy up assets on the cheap snd gamble away at our expense. They need a wake up call - mass protests.

Iliveonahill · 27/09/2022 21:39

I work in the public sector. We have professional advisers saying that the cuts to the state (local govt, nhs, education etc) will be on a par with the last period of austerity. Minimum pay rises at 2%,cuts in funding etc.
