Well, I knew that already, but every day she shocks me with the heights her deluded self-confidence goes to

She doesn't seem like she is up to the job. She's not a serious person. She has the brains of a flea.

The incredibly frustrating thing in this whole shit show is there is no political party that are any better!! I’ve been politically homeless for years now 😞

😂😂😂

Whatever you say Liz!

You Gov 33% lead best thing Truss can do is declare GE and get the fuck out if the way. No point in wasting a moments breath on appeasing tories let them piss into their own winds.

Exactly what I just said. I can see a successful no confidence vote in the government coming up soon. Most of her MPs can see the writing on the wall and probably won’t want to prolong the agony.

Dave20 · 29/09/2022 21:58

I don’t think a GE is likely… plus the Tories know they’ll lose so why would they want one? Risk losing their seats ?

Blossomtoes · 29/09/2022 22:01

They’re not all stupid. They know the game’s up. The risk won’t get any smaller. If Truss can do this much damage in 24 days, fuck knows what she’ll manage in a couple of months!

Kendodd · 29/09/2022 22:05

Truss and Kwarteng are meeting with the OBR tomorrow, I wonder if they'll sack everyone who works there for not liking their budget.

Agreed, it's Turkeys voting for Christmas etc....

A Red Wall Tory MP would likely be gone like a dot, unemployed PDQ if there's GE in the short term. They might want a new leader but they're certainly not going support a vote of no confidence in the Government.

I think she's got her eyes set on destroying the peace in NI next.

Jellykat · 29/09/2022 22:08

All inevitable i'm afraid, shes always had form for doing / saying dangerously dumb arse things..
Admittedly i thought it might take a little longer (like in months as opposed to weeks) before she fucked up.

Ellen2shoes · 29/09/2022 22:40

Pliudev · 29/09/2022 18:36

I'm afraid I disagree. Or, she may be an idiot but just behind her in the shadows are some powerful manipulators who know exactly what they are doing. I read an interesting article about what right wing Americans (and we know who they are) call 'starving the beast'. It means taking steps that bring an economy to the brink of disaster in order to convince voters that it's imperative to cut public services to the bone. I'm talking about measures that would make Cameron and Osborne's age of austerity look like playtime. What happens next is you will be paying upfront for a doctor's appointment (remember what Thatcher did to the dental service?), OAPs and the chronically sick will be paying for prescriptions and your children's school will be asking you to fund basic materials and contribute to the heating bill. This is just the tip of the iceberg. And don't forget that those shadowy individuals are making a fortune hedging against the pound on the markets. Truss is likely the sacrificial lamb. If it all goes pear shaped, as it surely will, nobody will miss her and her backers will be off spending their ill gotten gains in tax havens around the world.

With money safely tucked away in the offshore accounts which were about to be exposed by the EU but secured by the Brexit votes.

Ellen2shoes · 29/09/2022 22:45

The penny is finally dropping? Perhaps Kwasi was sniggering at the irony at the funeral?
It’s alarming that they are now so blatant as suggests they feel they have reached some invincible status.

Maggiethecat · 29/09/2022 22:48

There were so many threads during the leadership contest with people expressing dismay at the prospect of PM Truss.

Couldn't understand what the membership were thinking!

Any member on here care to explain now why they voted for her?

Ellen2shoes · 30/09/2022 00:04

Too busy laughing their way to the banks, or sniggering behind their sleeves at us?

Anyone?

ellyeth · 30/09/2022 00:26

So much for the "home owning democracy" if interest rates rise to 6% or more. Because of that and the considerable increases in everything else, I think a significant proportion of home owners will be in very deep water and will be rushing to sell their homes. Then the vultures will swoop in and have the pick of the bargains - already homes that were previously council homes have been sold back to private landlords. They will hold the whip hand now, as they do witpeople who have not been able to afford to buy a property.

What a stinking, rotten, disgusting government. Tax cuts for the richest and goodness only knows what will happen to the NHS and public services - more privatisation until nothing is left? I feel so angry.

Ellen2shoes · 30/09/2022 01:03

Finally home owners are realising what renters have long known.

I think she's got her eyes set on destroying the peace in NI next.

There's a school of thought she's just going to let that drift. Given Biden's heritage, he is not likely to support any moves she makes that will return violence and mayhem to the island of Ireland.

She's maybe genuinely deluded (barking?) enough to think she'll secure a second term, whilst Biden won't. She probably thinks it'll be someone like Trump back in charge i.e. someone who will be open to dark money offers. Notice no soundbites about how great a trade deal Truss will secure with the UK's BFF? POTUS has obviously slapped her down when she went to offer him some fellatio in the US recently. Got her POTUS's mixed-up. lol

Obviously, the actual puppet masters know she's a goner, along with any Tory power at the next GE.

The NIP is simply another gift they'll leave for Labour to pick up, along with a wrecked economy, population and national reputation.

Well played Tufton Street. Well played, indeed!! 😠

Of course, calling a GE would be the best thing for us, ordinary mortals.

She's not in the business of doing what's best for 'us'.

Particularly when there's still plenty of meat on the juicy NHS-shaped fiscal bone for her chums.

Dave20 · 30/09/2022 06:55

But common sense says you can’t have internet rates at 1 % or less for a around decade or so, when shoot them up to 6% within a year.
People can’t cope with such a steep rise in so little time.People won’t have the budgets to pay for those rates..

NoWordForFluffy · 30/09/2022 07:12

But interest rates aren't based on common sense, they're based on what the economy is doing and whether raising (or, conversely, lowering) the interest rate would help stabilise it.

Common sense says that's exactly what will happen when inflation is already high and you introduce massive unfunded spending plans at the same time as tax cuts.

Get your popcorn in for the conference speech that yougov poll said they would have 65 mps they could meet upstairs in a big pub. A more lame duck PM we will never see. At my brothers last night we were having a discussion and punted the idea she will be su unpopular and beset by woes it will destroy her. Her out could be to say I want to put my government to the electorate. She gets to appear noble in intent and gets her out. Not sure how that would work and we had been drinking but her position and the growing clouds of doom will destroy her authority before its even begun.

Surely the party won't let her call an election now? It would be carnage.

Unless they really do want to give up and hand this disaster to someone else

vera99 · 30/09/2022 08:42

Most probably not but who knows we are in truly uncharted territory with mad Lizzie and her shag buddy funking up everything they touch. What fresh horrors will she bring today.

vera99 · 30/09/2022 08:43

Obviously not funking though that would be cool.
