To think alot of you are weird

Clickbait title I know, but on the back of another active thread I'm genuinely curious about this.

I honestly think anyone that doesn't instantly change into comfy clothes (pj's or lounge wear etc.) As soon as they come home are seriously weird. How can you get comfy on the couch in fecking jeans 🙈 I also can't do chores in normal clothes, has to be old pj's.
If I'm not going anywhere for the day then I just shower and get into a different pj set. I can't stand wearing shoes indoors either, so slippers are lined up on the shoe stand near front door.
My kids don't even need to be asked, once they come home from anywhere (shool, shopping etc.) They take off shoes and go change into comfy clothes. I'm in no way a germaphobe, it's not related in any way to cleanliness, its just comfort.

This was not my upbringing, my dad ran his business from our home so there was always alot of traffic at our home, people coming & going. So we always had to be fully dressed, hair neat with shoes on from early morning till evening. He thought, and still thinks, wearing pj's during the day looks dirty or lazy.

So anyway:

YABU - I don't change as soon as I get home, you are the weirdo.
YANBU - yep, always instantly into fluffy socks and stretchy bottoms.

Clothes in the day, nothing in bed. I don't wear pyjamas unless it's absolutely freezing and then only in bed, never any other time.

Sorry to be pedantic OP, but it's a lot not alot - that word doesn't exist.

JackieDaws · 23/09/2022 14:19

Just buy clothes that fit instead of squeezing into uncomfortable jeans that are probably a size too small.

hoovermanouvre · 23/09/2022 14:19

No I don't wear pjs all day because I don't own pjs. Also I have kids. Also, if your husband comes home and you're in pjs, it's not a good look and suggests you have been in bed all day or are a bit of a slob. So no.

BarbaraofSeville · 23/09/2022 14:20

I hate the word PJs, don't own any and find it very weird how obsessed people on here seem about pyjamas and 'comfys'.

My normal clothes are comfortable, and I'm not afraid of the air outside my home so I don't feel the need to get changed as soon as I enter the house.

Lesserspotteddogfish · 23/09/2022 14:21

I immediately thought of the thread you are referring to when I read your title, but I’m in the other camp and think you are the weirdo.

Isthislife · 23/09/2022 14:21

I always wear comfy clothes at home. Not PJs, but joggers and hoodie usually. I wouldn't think someone was weird for wearing smarter clothes though as it's just personal preference. My way is a bit annoying sometimes as I won't go out the house in joggers so have to change if I need to pop out again. I always find US TV shows funny when the women are dressed in amazing outfits and heels just for everyday casual wear! I wish I could be arsed to look like that but alas I cannot 😄

musicviking1 · 23/09/2022 14:21

The minute I get home my shoes come off and if I know I'm not going back out
I put on lounge wear, shower later then PJs.

FawnFrenchieMum · 23/09/2022 14:22

I am somewhere in the middle, I like to be comfy so may change once I know I am not going anywhere else or may stay in comfies on a lazy Sunday but more often then not we are in and out of the house all day so dont get changed every time. And I dont find my jeans all that uncomfy, work dresses I usually take off as soon as possible.

MangoBiscuit · 23/09/2022 14:23

Oh, and as per the thread title, yes I am weird, but not for not wearing pyjamas at every opportunity.

Also, the "alot" comments made me think of this:

hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html

To think alot of you are weird

warmeduppizza · 23/09/2022 14:03

I put on smartish clothes as soon as I get up and wear them until bed time. I thought that was normal.

Are you Jacob Rees Mogg?

10HailMarys · 23/09/2022 14:23

It's just a personal preference. Just because someone does something differently to you, that doesn't make it 'weird'.

I sometimes change into pyjamas in the evening, maybe after a bath or something, but certainly not always. I'm usually perfectly comfy in my jeans; I wouldn't wear jeans if I wasn't. I wouldn't relax on the sofa in, say, a smart skirt and tights, but I'm completely comfy in jeans and a top. I don't ever wear pyjamas in the day-time unless I'm ill. On my feet I usually wear slippers or flip-flops in the house, or I just have bare feet.

I'm physically uncomfortable if I don't wear a bra! I've got massive knockers, which I'm guessing is a factor. I've just learnt to be ultra-picky about style and fit I think, over the years. If I'm in my normal clothes, I'll always be wearing an underwired bra, basically. If I'm in pyjamas I'll be wearing a non-wired bra or a supportive crop top underneath.

LargeglassofRosePlease · 23/09/2022 14:03

Yep. We are the same here .

I will be called a germaphobe ( don’t actually care) but my children will shower too when they get in from school and will get in pjs.

We all do.

Don’t you or your children ever go out again after they get home from school? Or would you shower and change every time you re enter the house?

Sistanotcista · 23/09/2022 14:25

LadybirdsLadybirds · 23/09/2022 13:59

There's no such word as 'alot'. Why do so many people think this?! It's not even very many letters to get right, for F sake.

Yes, I always change into comfy clothes when I get home. Bra is the first thing to come off pretty much as soon as I get through the front door.

And no apostrophe in PJs either. To make an acronym plural add an s without an apostrophe.

(Completely misses the point of the thread)

@hoovermanouvre

ah1950 has been looking for you!

amicissimma · 23/09/2022 14:25

I wear clothes that fit me, so I don't have uncomfortable clothes I want to take off ASAP.

StonwEd · 23/09/2022 14:25

No shoes in the house, sliders in summer, slippers in winter.
Not pj's but leggings and hoody or large t-shirt. Wouldn't be embarrassed to answer the door and couple nip to the car without looking too shabby.
Work clothes straight in the wash, could never sit around wearing them.

Topgub · 23/09/2022 14:26

@hoovermanouvre

Do you meet him at the door with a martini, fresh lipstick and a bow in your hair?

Send him off to sit down while you present the children before bed then serve him dinner?

Anoisagusaris · 23/09/2022 14:26

Getting changed each time you come into your house is strange imo.

Unless I’m dressed up for a wedding or major night out, my clothes are all comfortable enough to wear in the house….I don’t find jeans or other trousers uncomfortable. I’m more comfortable with an underwired bra than with no bra. And unless you are wiping your clothes on your pillow, toothbrush, food prep surface, crockery or cutlery, ‘outside’ germs don’t worry me. We wear shoes in the house, I’m not too concerned about ‘germs’ on the floor as I rarely touch it. Happily have a nap in my bed while wearing clothes I’ve worn outdoors.

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/09/2022 14:27

YANBU. I change after coming home. Not into PJs unless it's bedtime, but into clothes that are comfortable and I'm not that bothered if they get covered in pet hair, ripped or stained.

ErinAoife · 23/09/2022 14:27

Yabu I Don change chlothes when I am back from work as all my chlothes are comfortable as I Don't need to wear suit. We are allowed to wear what you want as long as it is not indecent!!!

sanityisamyth · 23/09/2022 14:28

MomwasCasual · 23/09/2022 13:57

I think a lot of people don't realise that 'alot' isn't a word.

This! I don't really care about the rest of the thread!

Topgub · 23/09/2022 14:28

@JackieDaws

Are your pjs made of denim?

warmeduppizza · 23/09/2022 14:28

Lightningfast · 23/09/2022 14:23

Are you Jacob Rees Mogg?

God no. But I do have a job that means people can call me/come to the door/expect me to come out pretty much 24/7.

MargaretThursday · 23/09/2022 14:28

I wear comfy clothes to work. Hope that answers your question.

Funkyblues101 · 23/09/2022 14:28

I agree with your father. It just seems lazy.
