AIBU?

To think alot of you are weird

Clickbait title I know, but on the back of another active thread I'm genuinely curious about this.

I honestly think anyone that doesn't instantly change into comfy clothes (pj's or lounge wear etc.) As soon as they come home are seriously weird. How can you get comfy on the couch in fecking jeans 🙈 I also can't do chores in normal clothes, has to be old pj's.
If I'm not going anywhere for the day then I just shower and get into a different pj set. I can't stand wearing shoes indoors either, so slippers are lined up on the shoe stand near front door.
My kids don't even need to be asked, once they come home from anywhere (shool, shopping etc.) They take off shoes and go change into comfy clothes. I'm in no way a germaphobe, it's not related in any way to cleanliness, its just comfort.

This was not my upbringing, my dad ran his business from our home so there was always alot of traffic at our home, people coming & going. So we always had to be fully dressed, hair neat with shoes on from early morning till evening. He thought, and still thinks, wearing pj's during the day looks dirty or lazy.

So anyway:

YABU - I don't change as soon as I get home, you are the weirdo.
YANBU - yep, always instantly into fluffy socks and stretchy bottoms.

I think people can do different things without insisting others are 'weird'

I remember going to stay the night with a fairly new friend and at about 7pm she said 'Would you mind if I got my pyjamas on? I know it's early ... Blush' MIND?! I knew then we would be friends for life Grin

Never had pj's since I was a child, find jeans comfortable. Unless I'm going out in the evening I stay in the same clothes till bedtime.

I’ve just had a nap in my jeans

No, I wouldn’t get into PJs as soon as I get in, or any other sort of “comfy” clothing. I don’t own any joggers. I would, however, get into PJs mid-late evening if I’m not doing anything and am just watching TV.

You wear PJ's all day - Ewwwwwww 😂

You see, I would see that as extremely slobby. I wear day clothes in the day, you know, jeans, skirts, jumpers, and nothing at night. Day clothes are not uncomfortable, how odd.

I'm exactly the same as you. I hate being dressed at home- pyjama bottoms, comfy tops and bra off the second I get home. And I wear them all day if I'm staying in.

It's you that's weird. Pyjamas are for bed, and my normal clothes (including jeans) aren't uncomfortable anyway. Shoes off, yes, but that's hygiene as much as comfort.

I would hate to wear pj's not in bed. Do you change into fresh pj's when you want to sleep?!

No, just keep the same ones on! And on really lazy days might wear my pjs all day and then back to bed. What an utter slob I am 😄

I can think of a hell of a lot of traits or habits that are a LOT more "seriously weird" than not changing into "comfy clothes" when you get home.

ALL my clothes are comfortable. If I put, for example, a bra on and thought it wasn't comfortable, I'd change it for another one. My jeans are all comfortable. Everything is. So I don't feel the need to get changed into pyjamas when I get home. I take my coat and shoes off, slippers on and go fill the kettle, often as not. I'd only change clothes if they'd got sweaty.

I wouldn't say you were seriously weird for wanting to loosen your stays when you get home, I don't think people who don't feel the need to are either.

I've got a sweatshirt, jeans & trainers on. When I get home I will put some pyjama bottoms and comfy socks on.

There is no way I would put jeans on if I wasn't going out.

What do you do if someone comes round? Answer the door in PJ's at 6pm?

I'd judge if I were that person at the door

I like comfy clothes at home, leggings and hoodies etc. But I hate the 'pyjamas as day wear thing'. Especially if it's the whole family changing en masse into PJs. It's one of my minor icks.

I never get changed and in winter I keep my coat on usually for an hour or so after I get in. Always have. I am a bit weird tbh Grin

Jeans are perfectly comfortable, if they fit properly and you are not overweight.

All the clothes I wear are comfy. I rarely wear anything that is expensive or uncomfortable. Plus I only come downstairs once a day and go up again at night and that's where I keep my clothes so there is that too

I worked from home for years and just couldn't get into it without getting dressed as if I was going to work.

I also now, even though I am retired, get dressed to work in my garden as if I was going to work in a garden. And when I am done, get into my PJs. I couldn't do chores in PJ's. Nope.

However I do have 2 sets of garden PJ's, which I wear to harvest crops when it is too hot to go out in my work wear.

So we are all weird in our own ways.

I get in get out of work clothes and put on jeans /joggers . I have never put pj's on when I have got in , it's very rare that I would stay in the house from finishing work until bedtime but even if I did I wouldn't be wearing pj's I would feel slovenly.

What would you judge them for - being comfortable in their own home? I think there are stranger things to answer the door in. Nipple tassles? Now that would raise some eyebrows...

I work evenings from home, and I change into PJs halfway through my shift Grin And yes I don't care if I'm in my PJs when I answer the door at 6pm Confused Why would I care? Funnily enough, I don't really mind what the Amazon delivery man thinks of me!

I don't need to change into comfortable clothes when I get home. I wear comfortable clothes all the time (bar special events, weddings etc) Even when I was working in the office, I wore thick leggings and oversized hoodies.
