My dh got home from the dentist yesterday afternoon (he had a wisdom tooth taken out), he was in a bit of pain and discomfort so went to lie down. I went to check if he was ok/needed anything and saw he was lying on our bed fully clothed with the clothes he had on all day. I told him that was disgusting and could he remove them please, but he didn't understand why. He said (via text as he couldn't talk) 'But where have I been sat? The dentist? Where everything is famously clean?' That day he had also been sat in the car, been to the shops, taken our dc to school. If it was me I would always remove jeans etc. and put on pj's or clean leggings/joggers before lying on the bed.
Who is right?
AIBU?
Would you lie on your bed in the clothes you've been wearing all day?

If he was a tradesman then yes I would expect a change but not just normal clothes. He might have been more comfortable changing to lounge wear but if ur in pain he probs just wanted to rest.

How old are you, OP-have you never come across this situation before? Did you not ever spend afternoons with friends sitting on each other’s beds when you were younger?!

Your own kitchen cloth and the coins in your purse will carry more pathogens than a coat that's touched a toilet. Our skin is covered in bacteria, always.

Skin that's been under clothes all day is not dirtier than the clothes covering it, which have been on bus seats, rubbing against public loos, on the ground (in the case of DC), etc.

Skin will have far more pathogens on it than clothes. That makes no sense at all.

On top of the covers, ok unless clothes obviously dirty or you've been somewhere dirty. Under the covers, no outdoor clothes. DD sometimes likes to come home and go into my bed to watch TV for a bit and knows she has to strip off!
Some people are ok with putting suitcases on their bed 😱yeuch

All the pps that say its fine
are people who also walk around their house with their shoes on 🤮

I think it's fine. I don't walk around the house with my shoes on.
Having said that, it's not going to make you unwell if someone wears shoes in the house, either. Floors can be cleaned. It's a personal preference.

These things are known to be dirty, hence washing/changing cloths regularly and washing hands after handling money. And not rubbing coins around on the bedsheets. I’m not sure what your point is.
