To let 13 year old dress like a drug dealer??

DS is 13 and suddenly has taken an interest in ‘fashion’ which mostly seems to be dressing in all black sports logos and puffa
jackets. Nike trainers, puma joggers, north face hoody - you get the idea.

oh, and calling us ‘fam’ every frigging minute,
innit bruv.

given that he’s a white, MC kid, in a MC area at a MC school ( state but uniform with tie/blazer/shirt etc) with all that comes with that, I think it’s annoying/amusing and that he’ll grow out of this fake ‘street’ phase.

DH on the other hand thinks that he’s dressing. like a drug dealer and we should go buy him some Boden or something.

AIBU to just let 13 year old to dress how he likes??

‘Dd is 14. A year ago, she didn’t stop talking about ‘Roadmen’. She’s now gone quiet.’

ah, Light the end of the tunnel!

Same here- and it’s black and down-.filled.
very warm, but hopeless in the rain, it gets soggy fast on the shoulders and loses all insulation then.

I have a pale blue North Face waterproof. Very practical. Even I can see it's not the "right" jacket, despite the badge though.

twoandcooplease · 21/09/2022 21:10

I'm confused, are you a man @Textboxmm ?

Are you kidding hahaha

Have you ever heard of lesbians?

DH on the other hand thinks that he’s dressing. like a drug dealer and we should go buy him some Boden or something what's the H for in DH?

pinok · 21/09/2022 21:10

Nike and north face and black is just what’s popular with a lot of younger teens

katieg03 · 21/09/2022 21:11

My 12 year old is in the same clothes 🤦🏼‍♀️ all of his friends are the same. The Nike man bag contains an asthma puffer and a bank card 😄 sometimes house keys. But said bag is essential to complete the look! Socks cannot be seen wher I live it's skinny Nike trackies, bare ankles and ridiculously priced trainers. I work in a school in one of these types of area's... 80% of the kids are in this stuff. Despite being a deprived area. Not a school bag in sight but have North Face and Nike everywhere

Think OP has been hitting their sons stash as their 'dear husband' has magically transformed into a wife.

UneFoisAuChalet · 21/09/2022 21:11

I’m with OP. I hate that ‘look’ - jogging bottoms, bum bag (I still call it a fanny pack just to wind the boys up), north face gillets (even in the burning sun) etc etc…it just screams ‘I’m going to steal some trolleys and start shit with the Tesco security guard cuz I’m soo hard’ 🙄 … we’ve got 3 boys 10 to 14 and I let them wear variations of the ‘uniform’ but never all in one go.

My youngest has a particular aversion to gillets (forgive me, I don’t know what the hip term for the clothing is). He says - ‘What’s the point of wearing a coat with no sleeves? I mean, it’s like half a coat isn’t it? If it’s cold your arms will be cold too?’

I’m sure we didn’t all wear the same uniform back in the nineties? Or did we all look like grunge clones??

I have been banned from using the term 'fam' even though I am actually quite cool and down with the kids in a drive them around and give them money sort of way Other banned words are 'famsters' and 'famalamdingdong'. Oh and 'can you put the recycling out' Wink

Ah got ya, I understand. It doesn't really matter but no don't dress him in boden

JemimaPiddleDick · 21/09/2022 21:14

When DS was that age he and ALL his friends wore exactly that, tight Nike joggers, North Face Puffa, hoody underneath, identical haircuts, adidas shoes. You could only tell them apart from what colour sleeves the puffa had.
now they’re 18 and have their own style. They want to dress like that because all their mates dress like that. If your DH is that keen to see him in Mini Boden then make sure he buys it with HIS money, not from a joint account because it won’t be worn, because NOBODY dresses like that one they’re past the age where they can say no

SlashBeef · 21/09/2022 21:14

Ah I have this to look forward to don't I? My nearly ten year old has started calling me bro 🙄

oakleaffy · 21/09/2022 21:14

PolkaDotMankini · 21/09/2022 20:58

They're for carrying small quantities of drugs. They tend to have a very long strap so you can hurl them into the bushes as you run from the feds.

I thought class A s were hidden up the backside? ( In males)
A person I know has worked for decades at a Drugs charity and says this is why police do intimate cavity searches.
Police are well kniwn for looking for abandoned or swallowed class A’s.

One of the saddest cases was of a young father who swallowed a 1/4 oz of hash and choked to death on the wrapping.
Absolutely awful.
Police tried to save him, to no avail.

I've noticed a lot of boys wearing what look like silky black balaclavas !

Do lesbians call their spouses husband?

The OP appears to have both a husband and a wife.

Slightly concerned that 'drive them around and give them money' sounds like I'm involved in County lines as opposed to an average parenting pastime !

DdraigGoch · 21/09/2022 21:17

If you push back against teens, they'll only dig in.
