To let 13 year old dress like a drug dealer??

DS is 13 and suddenly has taken an interest in ‘fashion’ which mostly seems to be dressing in all black sports logos and puffa
jackets. Nike trainers, puma joggers, north face hoody - you get the idea.

oh, and calling us ‘fam’ every frigging minute,
innit bruv.

given that he’s a white, MC kid, in a MC area at a MC school ( state but uniform with tie/blazer/shirt etc) with all that comes with that, I think it’s annoying/amusing and that he’ll grow out of this fake ‘street’ phase.

DH on the other hand thinks that he’s dressing. like a drug dealer and we should go buy him some Boden or something.

AIBU to just let 13 year old to dress how he likes??

OP sounds like the head of the stop and search unit. Must be such a laugh for you innit!

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 21/09/2022 20:44

I'd be more concerned if I had a husband who suggested a 13 year old should wear Boden tbh

Eddieisadick · 21/09/2022 20:44

You seem to be suggesting that drug dealers are black

ElizabethBest · 21/09/2022 20:45

The clothes, you probably just have to wait it out. You can cure the language fairly quickly though - just start delightedly adopting it all. Next time he has friends round, heartily declare “HELLO FAM! WHATS UP BRUV!” to his friends and I am fairly certain he’ll stop as quickly as he started!

Reallyreallyborednow · 21/09/2022 20:45

Is he a drug dealer?

nope, he’s a street pharmacist. 😂

VladmirsPoutine · 21/09/2022 20:46

@properdoughnut No. He's white.

‘Is he a drug dealer?’
christ, if only he were that useful.

Hehe

Don't sweat it. Speaking of which was he wearing heavy jumpers during the summer too?

The funny thing is the actual "street" kids don't dress like this anymore. Our PRU kids moved on about 2 years ago, they wouldn't be seen dead dressed like the middle classes who think they're copying them 😆

They most definitely are doing on the very large, very run down, shite council estate I live on, stiiiill.

‘Men have heard of Boden? Unless your DH is actually Johnnie Boden, I call BS’

Dear WIFE has heard of Boden. But also knows a teen wouldn’t be caught in Boden so I think was just clutching at straws.

How do you manage to keep a straight face?? I just love how sincere and earnest teenagers can be. Let him be (as long as he's not actually a drug dealer, that is)

nope, he’s a street pharmacist. 😂

Ahh that's what they are calling themselves. Clever marketing move.

twoandcooplease · 21/09/2022 20:48

I draw the line at the bum bag worn across the middle.

Just spat out my tea reading that. I can picture the scene at the bottom of the stairs where mums eyes meet bumbag, then DSs eyes, while ds slowly raises the BUMbag to be a chin bag
All hell breaks loose

girlmom21 · 21/09/2022 20:48

Ties and blazers absolutely do not make a school middle class 😂

Aside from that, I agree with using his own slang against him Grin

PeekAtYou · 21/09/2022 20:48

Luckily we were in lockdown when ds started considering dressing like a road man.

Mine is 16 and just come out of this phase but as long as he's not sagging, I've kept my opinions to myself.

twoandcooplease · 21/09/2022 20:49

Sorry @Bunce1 meant to tag you in my last pp

BirmaBrite · 21/09/2022 20:50

I committed the mortal sin of telling a friends son that I thought his little man bag was ' very sensible '.

pattyf80 · 21/09/2022 20:33

Hiya!
Just wondering, what is MC (I am new to this site) Xx

@pattyf80 I think op means Manchester?

ittakes2 · 21/09/2022 20:51

I thought all teens dress like this - no way to Boden!!

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 21/09/2022 20:51

MC I'd guess is middle class

Smellywellyhoo · 21/09/2022 20:51

That's very snobby of you to brand average working class teenage boy fashion as looking like a drug dealer. How did your DH dress as a teen? In a tweed jacket?

pattyf80 · 21/09/2022 20:52

@twoandcooplease Thanks, didn't realise LOL.🤣

Oh fuck I think you're right <crawls under rock>

You are sooo cruel!

twoandcooplease · 21/09/2022 20:53

@pattyf80 sorry I think you should ignore me. Pp corrected it is middle class. Which makes much more sense 🙈🙈

Textboxmm · 21/09/2022 20:54

‘How did your DH dress as a teen? In a tweed jacket?’
nah, she had the big 80s perm as it happens.

I do wonder how ‘road man’ became something to aspire to!
