DP and are are getting married in 10 days. Only us and 2 witnesses, not told anyone else. The registry office have just informed us that the music needs to be on a cd. We have the three songs but on our phone. Neither of us have a CD rewriter and even if we did we can't seem to purchase the audio file of the songs anywhere. We have posted on local Facebook groups etc to ask if anyone can do it but with no luck and now we are desperate. Does anyone know where e can get the following songs (random I know, but all mean one thing to us) put onto a CD?
Golden brown, The stranglers
Royals, Lordes
Shotgun, George Ezra

On top of the fact that the rail strike means one of the only 2 witnesses may not be able to make it, this has really pushed me over the edge today.

We put ours on a usb stick and took them off Spotify. Can you ask if they can do that?

garlictwist · 21/09/2022 22:47

That's ridiculous. What is is this, 2005? They need to get with the times. I have no way of burning or playing CDs and think most people would be in that boat.

Starstar7 · 21/09/2022 22:47

Golden Brown..a song about Heroin..lovely for a wedding!

whynotwhatknot · 21/09/2022 22:49

i dont understand is it because it comes through their own speakers

my sis inlaw played something stright off her phone for hers

NeverDrinkingAgainUntilNextTime · 21/09/2022 22:51

Hey, we're getting married in a registry office on Saturday and we're told to pick 4 songs (one for walking down aisle, two for signing register and one for walking out to)
They told us at the time of booking it has to be on a CD. I'm so sorry you weren't also told that
Whereabouts are you, a friend is putting the songs on CD for us as I haven't a clue how to do it x

whynotwhatknot · 21/09/2022 22:52

also its so quick i dont know why they said 3 songs

TabithaTittlemouse · 21/09/2022 22:56

Am I the only person left in the world that still uses CDs?

DontTouchThat · 21/09/2022 23:04

Dont buy the songs, convert them from YouTube to mp3 for free. Grab a usb cd burner, Argos will do them and copy to that.

Needmorelego · 21/09/2022 19:47

@TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination I assume they meant to look in CEX for cheap CDs.
It's a shop.

Yes, I know it's a 'shop' but they're not going to burn a CD for her with the three tracks on, which is what she needs by Friday.

I’m surprised you’ll have time to play 3 songs when it’s such a small ceremony. My DD got married in a register office with 2 witnesses. No opportunity for any songs tbh!

this was my thought!! But seriously Op - just buy the CD's off Amazon like any one over age xx does.

No you are not!!

whoknew123 · 22/09/2022 08:42

Hi, I can put these on an audio cd for you and put in the post tomorrow morning, should arrive Monday or Tuesday, let me know.

Getofftheladder · 22/09/2022 08:54

I work weddings and it’s very common for couples to take a Bluetooth speaker.

registra might want to check the songs, but that’s 100 times easier on a phone. Create a playlist with just those songs, and enjoy your day.

If you’ve got a photographer present don’t forget they could be a witness if you need.

warmeduppizza · 22/09/2022 08:55

I used to officiate at weddings and regularly came across this issue, usually last minute, so I bought a usb CD burner and just burned a CD at home if a couple were really stuck. Took the stress out of it for them.

MugginsOverEre · 22/09/2022 09:22

Amazon will get you an external CD/DVD drive in a day for less than £15. It takes 10 minutes to burn a CD and an external disc drive may come in handy in the future anyway. I don't work using computers at all yet I've pulled out the disc drive a few times this year for stuff like downloading software that came with a cctv camera into the laptop, one for dash cam and I think the other was to get some music off a CD.

Marvellousmadness · 22/09/2022 09:26

I got married in a registry office
We only had 1 song
Because it is a registry wedding.

And to be honest. You dont need nor WANT 3 songs

You want one
One that will be your song forever.

Ask on fb if there is someone that can burn it for you. Surely there is someone you can do it for you.

Good luck and stop stressing

Even with NO music. You are getting married. And that's all that matters 🥰

RubiesandRose · 22/09/2022 10:40

I got married 2 weeks ago and register office had access to 1,000's of songs, we gave them our three choices and they organised the whole thing!

I can't believe you are being asked to supply CD's, which is so antiquated.

I know it doesn't help you but I would suggest they speak to Surrey Registration Services in the next county and upgrade their equipment!

I hope you get a resolution and the still songs you want.

RubiesandRose · 22/09/2022 10:42

And to those people querying the 3 songs, you have an entrance song, a signing the register song and a leaving song.

Not compulsory but a nice personal touch if you want to.

Changemynamee · 22/09/2022 11:22

If you are willing to be flexible about the songs, l've seen lots of CDs in charity shops.

SleeplessInEngland · 22/09/2022 11:35

If it means so much you're crying over it just buy the CDs FGS. They're not exactly obscure.

I'd still rather get married to that than a George Ezra song 😛

Why would I read the fucking thread when I can just read the first post and give a kneejerk response? Honestly, some people. 😤

Because we are three pages in, you should at least read the OPs post before posting such a rude reply. She has explained why she can't just buy the CD 'FGS'

vix3rd · 22/09/2022 13:32

I'm pretty certain I got my last CD burner from Argos. Or Amazon(we have prime & next day delivery)
and I bought the music I needed from iTunes. but you can use amazon.
