I could just cry....music for registry office has to be on CD

DP and are are getting married in 10 days. Only us and 2 witnesses, not told anyone else. The registry office have just informed us that the music needs to be on a cd. We have the three songs but on our phone. Neither of us have a CD rewriter and even if we did we can't seem to purchase the audio file of the songs anywhere. We have posted on local Facebook groups etc to ask if anyone can do it but with no luck and now we are desperate. Does anyone know where e can get the following songs (random I know, but all mean one thing to us) put onto a CD?
Golden brown, The stranglers
Royals, Lordes
Shotgun, George Ezra

On top of the fact that the rail strike means one of the only 2 witnesses may not be able to make it, this has really pushed me over the edge today.

Congratulations OP💐

This might be a long shot but if you know of any of those mobile phone/laptop repair shops in your local area they might be able to help.

Of if you’re on Facebook put up a public post and get all your friends/family to share it. Put it on local Facebook groups.

Burning CDs is very easy to do. I used to do it loads when I was a teenagers and making my own playlists for my car. Someone local to you will definitely have the means to do it.

I’m on the opposite side of the county to Kent and no longer own a laptop with a CD drive as I switched to Apple Mac but would have done this in a heartbeat for you if I could.

Hope it gets sorted. Good luck x

Bllueblazerblack · 21/09/2022 21:00

I understand that you want them but it's not required for a CP. We had one last year. It was us, two witnesses, the registrar and our baby. No music, no ceremonial nonsense just literally signing a piece of paper.

pattyf80 · 21/09/2022 21:01

You can burn them onto a CD-R using Windows Media Player if you're on Windows. Unsure for MacOS and others Xx

Notanotherwindow · 21/09/2022 21:08

Just rip them from YouTube and burn to cd on Windows media player. It'll take you all of an hour.

Notanotherwindow · 21/09/2022 21:09

I can send you the media files if you like then all you have to do is burn them.

Notanotherwindow · 21/09/2022 21:12

Might even be able to burn them for you if I can boot my old laptop up as it has a disk drive but it's getting it to you. Where do you live roughly?

pattyf80 · 21/09/2022 21:12

Yep, go to a YouTube - MP3 site and download the audio files as MP3 and burn them onto your CD. Found this Wikihow for you if you need love Xx

fyn · 21/09/2022 21:14

We had to do this for our small registry office wedding. We just used a YouTube to mp3 converter as we couldn’t find the music we wanted anywhere to purchase individually as mp3. I didn’t feel badly as we already owned it on apple!

Notanotherwindow · 21/09/2022 21:15

I haven't paid for music since Limewire was still a thing. There are dozens of converters out there.

IamTheBridge · 21/09/2022 21:16

We were allowed to do it with phone and Bose speaker we provided.

MrsJackRackham · 21/09/2022 21:20

I'd asked my friend to burn a CD for my mum's funeral. Acoustic version of How Great Thou Art. Only autocorrect changed it to autistic. God love him, he searched for hours before contacting me to say he couldn't find anything. Hope you get it sorted OP x

Vodkaany1 · 21/09/2022 21:22

@RetreatRetreatRetreat I've pm'd you. I'm also in Kent and might be able to help if you're near enough to me

RetreatRetreatRetreat · 21/09/2022 19:34

I'll rope in a stranger off the street if need be!!

Where are you in kent OP?

lemartin · 21/09/2022 21:23

ANYONE with an old laptop or PC that takes a CD (ask parents/ friends etc) will be able to do it. Find someone with a laptop - no matter the quality or age. Grab some blank CDs from WHSmith/ Tesco and head to youtube converter. Get the youtube link to your songs and put into youtube converter and they will give you an MP3 to download. Save to desktop and drag them onto your CD folder. Voila - just find someone with an old laptop or a PC and you're golden

HarpicHarpy · 21/09/2022 21:29

Put a request on your local Facebook page! My local one loves helping out with weird and wonderful requests.

Sympathy for your situation. I had to fax a document to Greece when sorting out my marriage licence. Where the fuck do you find a fax machine in the UK, in the 1980s?

They just mean something in the story of our relationship...not especially wedding!! Smile

Now I need to know what a song about heroin means in the context of your relationship Grin

Your library might have some computers with cd drives? Worth a try if the kind poster who was offering isn't able to. Hope you have a fantastic day on Friday! I'm sure it will all get sorted, easier to say than do but just relax and look forward to newly-wed life ❤

BlueBell50 · 21/09/2022 20:35

illegal wedding songs - civil weddings cannot legally have any religious music so they have to be checked for this.

OP hope you get sorted

The rules have been relaxed. You still can't have overtly religious songs, like hymns, but it's now fine to have songs with religious imagery e.g. Angels.

Wafflesnsniffles · 21/09/2022 21:49

At a recent family funeral they played on the music by looking it up on you tube and playing it to the congregation........ we were surprised but thats what they did (and it was perfect actually)

I remember reading a story in the press of a wedding where the music was played by just streaming it off youtube, except the venue's internet connection was poor so it was buffering and the music constantly started and stopped during the ceremony.. If it had been downloaded before hand (or they had a decent internet connection) it would've been completely avoided.

HikingforScenery · 21/09/2022 22:22

You can get external credit drives very cheaply off Amazon or argos and burn it yourself, using standard media player.

Macey78 · 21/09/2022 22:27

I work in a registry office. Just email them and say you'd like to have your music played a via a Bluetooth speaker and bring one with you. We don't actually use cds anymore.

Have a lovely time and enjoy your ceremony!

DelilahBucket · 21/09/2022 22:30

We had this at the church so we borrowed a portable Bluetooth speaker instead.

Coatdegroan · 21/09/2022 22:30

I would just buy cds on ebay
If money not too tight buy new from one of previous posters links..hope the wedding is lovely.
