I could just cry....music for registry office has to be on CD

DP and are are getting married in 10 days. Only us and 2 witnesses, not told anyone else. The registry office have just informed us that the music needs to be on a cd. We have the three songs but on our phone. Neither of us have a CD rewriter and even if we did we can't seem to purchase the audio file of the songs anywhere. We have posted on local Facebook groups etc to ask if anyone can do it but with no luck and now we are desperate. Does anyone know where e can get the following songs (random I know, but all mean one thing to us) put onto a CD?
Golden brown, The stranglers
Royals, Lordes
Shotgun, George Ezra

On top of the fact that the rail strike means one of the only 2 witnesses may not be able to make it, this has really pushed me over the edge today.

Oh yes just seen how small the wedding is. Just get a Bluetooth speaker and play from your phone via that

I'm going to ring tomorrow to see if they will allow this. What a nightmare

I am…so amused/curious about the song choices

Georgesgrumpymedicine · 21/09/2022 19:30

Can you get your local computer repair shop to burn it for you?

Isaidnoalready · 21/09/2022 19:31

What area are you in?

Theo1756 · 21/09/2022 19:31

It’s frustrating but I was in the same boat with a recent funeral. Some venues are just behind the times. Your best bet is to message all your friends and find out who has a pc with a cd drive on it that you can borrow for 10 minutes. Then you can burn as normal. If that fails a pc repair shop might be able to help you out? Even a library might be able to help (although you will need to purchase the songs legally in this option). Absolute last resort is scour record shops for the tracks you want on separate cds. The venue will swap the discs for you:

Whereabouts are you? If you can sort the MP3s someone nearby can probably burn a disk for you?

I could find someone to burn a disk I think but there's no time to post it if they need it by the day after tomorrow.

AlwaysTheBrideNeverTheBridesmaid · 21/09/2022 19:32

Just buy an external cd drive that burns onto CDs. Connects via USB. Download the MP3s, burn. Simple. Honestly, take a deep breath, it’s not an hour from now it’s a week away, you have loads of time to sort it and it’s easily resolved!

They just mean something in the story of our relationship...not especially wedding!! Smile

Post on a local Facebook group, to see if anyone would help you out.

Needmorelego · 21/09/2022 19:34

I would be more concerned that you need a back up witness.
You legally need 2.
Music is optional.

OneMomentPlease · 21/09/2022 19:34

Double check about taking a Bluetooth speaker and make it clear that you would not expect the Registrars to be involved with it. I can understand they don’t want to deal with connecting Bluetooth etc but there’s no logical reason one of the witnesses couldn’t do it.

Thank you. Feeling a bit overwhelmed I think. I'm in Kent and it seems no one owns a cd rewriter....probably because no fucker uses them anymore.

I wanted to know as well.

As for your problem fb is your friend. Do an anonymous post on your local fb group, every fucker on fb wants to be a hero.

If you'd read the OP's posts, you'd know the Registry office 'needs' them by Friday!!

@MossGrowsFat you'd think wouldn't you?! Nope!

If you have Amazon prime and order quickly they are about £22 and will be here tomorrow

Do this. I got one for less than £20 from currys last year. You could literally click and collect one for tonight or tomorrow at the latest, it’ll be sorted by tomorrow night.

I totally understand at this stage in the game what appear to be quite small inconveniences can just be the straw that breaks the camels back and set you off. For me it was the stationary people changing my name to DH’s on the meal seating plan when I wasn’t taking his name and never indicated to them I would. I just burst into tears when I got it home and realised what they’d done. It’ll all come right in the end 💐

Thethreecs · 21/09/2022 19:39

Buy a disc drive. They are very cheap. I used ours today to download movies and music videos for dd. It just plus into a laptop.

Dannifaye · 21/09/2022 19:40

I managed to do this for our wedding.
Put a message on your Facebook if you have it or ask at work if anyone can help.
It’s not difficult if tou have a laptop and the songs in mp3 format.

Ohtsd · 21/09/2022 19:40

There are some on Amazon for as little as about £15 actually but you will have to sign up to prime if you haven't got it, there is probably a free trial

WhoWasThatMaskedWoman · 21/09/2022 19:41

The reason they won't let you play it on your phone is probably because they need to vet the choices for suitability - apparently a surprising number of people try to get away with illegal song choices like Hallelujah, God Only Knows, Angels etc. If you're streaming it directly from your phone they might need to call 999 on you Grin.
