I could just cry....music for registry office has to be on CD

DP and are are getting married in 10 days. Only us and 2 witnesses, not told anyone else. The registry office have just informed us that the music needs to be on a cd. We have the three songs but on our phone. Neither of us have a CD rewriter and even if we did we can't seem to purchase the audio file of the songs anywhere. We have posted on local Facebook groups etc to ask if anyone can do it but with no luck and now we are desperate. Does anyone know where e can get the following songs (random I know, but all mean one thing to us) put onto a CD?
Golden brown, The stranglers
Royals, Lordes
Shotgun, George Ezra

On top of the fact that the rail strike means one of the only 2 witnesses may not be able to make it, this has really pushed me over the edge today.

Do you have a local computer shop? Worth asking them.

CEX

How's that going to help?

chesirecat99 · 21/09/2022 19:44

Maybe somewhere like a copy shop/photographic shop/print shop/Internet cafe would be able to do it? A hotel business centre?

Do they even exist on normal high streets though? I'm in Central London and my local Rymans offer printing from CD/USB services, as does the Snappy Snaps, and there are a few phone shop/Internet cafes nearby. I doubt it's a service that they offer but they probably would have a computer that can write CDs and might be persuaded to do it.

There is probably an independent print shop type place in most towns. People still have flyers/posters/tickets/business cards/wedding invitations printed. They would most likely have a PC with a CD drive and be more likely to be willing to provide an out of the ordinary service than a chain store.

You are right op, I would! Good luck.

HilarityEnsues · 21/09/2022 19:45

It was the same for my husband's funeral, as if it wasn't hard enough to arrange! I think it's due to copyright reasons, if you want to use things outside their existing catalogue. Hope you get it sorted.

I’m a huge Stranglers fan but I’m surprised about GB, given what it’s about

The reason they won't let you play it on your phone is probably because they need to vet the choices for suitability - apparently a surprising number of people try to get away with illegal song choices like Hallelujah, God Only Knows, Angels etc. If you're streaming it directly from your phone they might need to call 999 on you Grin.

I was thinking this, but our registrar only asked what songs we were having, we didn't have to physically provide them (we used a phone and a really good Bluetooth speaker). Presumably if there was anything they didn't already know was suitably non-godly they just listened to it online.

I don't have much better advice than already suggested Op, but good luck and congratulations Flowers

Ok, thanks all. I know I'm panicking and need to calm down. I'm going to order all the CDs on Prime and call tomorrow to see if they will change them. If not, I'll prime a cd burner thingy and see if I can get them burned. I mean if I'm a day late then they are hardly likely to say no are they?

@TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination I assume they meant to look in CEX for cheap CDs.
It's a shop.

Lellochip · 21/09/2022 19:47

@RetreatRetreatRetreat I've just checked and they're all available in mp3 on Amazon for 99p, so you just need to sort a cd. Is it this Friday they need it for or next?

Milkand2sugarsplease · 21/09/2022 19:48

Buy the three tracks on iTunes or download them from YouTube.

Currys then have an external cd drive for £20.

I'd offer to do it but I've no way of getting it to you for Friday. Good luck.

This Friday. Problem I'm having is, I go on Amazon and it say they are available on MP3 then when you go in they actually aren't!!

You might be able to burn a cd at your local library

Crazy isn't it? Who has CDs nowadays? Sorry about your husband

@HilarityEnsues that cut off. It should say sorry about your husband.

See if this works? It's hard to find because it wants to stream them but seems to give a BUY option eventually

Golden brown
Royals
Shotgun

A YouTube to MP3 converter would be one was to solve the MP3 issue.
For example: ytmp3.cc/67c7e/

WombatStewForTea · 21/09/2022 19:54

@RetreatRetreatRetreat where in the country are you? If you were local to me I'd do it for you!

TabithaTittlemouse · 21/09/2022 19:56

Any local djs? That’s who did ours when we had the same issue (not a registry office but same stupid rules).

Hillary17 · 21/09/2022 19:58

Pretty much the same at all registry offices. We used our own speaker and hooked it to our phones!

Halli2020 · 21/09/2022 19:58

Buy cds on eBay or pop into cex. Cex depending on where you live will most likely have a range of cds

pinkyredrose · 21/09/2022 19:59

You're having a song dedicated to heroin for your wedding? 😉

imnottoofussed · 21/09/2022 20:00

I have a cd burner and cd. Pm me your address and I can post tomorrow

Grumpusaurus · 21/09/2022 20:01

That is such a non issue. So many easy and cheap solutions. Don't be a drama llama

RainLover · 21/09/2022 20:02

We had the same issue, I paid someone on Etsy to do it for us. Message the seller to see if they’ll be able to accommodate posting out same day and using next day delivery for an extra fee and a rave review.
