I gave her a hug goodnight and am now a soggy,weepy mess.
I will no doubt be worse tomorrow if the overloaded car makes it.
AIBU or are other mums like this?
I have brought her up to be a strong, independent young woman so I've only myself to blame but this is it, she's outgrown home.
How long does it take to reinvent a life as a single woman?

@Crosswithlifeatm and she has met a girl that has invited her on a night out!! I am over the moon. This will do wonders for her confidence

Just here to say... I am worried about my son. He is not eating meals , he says he doesn't like eating in front of flat mates and they are a mixed bag of ages and nationalities. When I ask it's 'quavers' or 'frankfurter sandwich' although he seems on friendly terms with dominos!

He has asked me to buy a mini washing machine for his room- Amazon sell them but they have the worst reviews ever. He has done NO washing. I just talked him through washing his underwear in the sink/ shower. He says the big machines are always busy. I can imagine he is not very patient though.

The actual 'uni' part seems ok.
He is just having trouble adjusting and adulting. Organising his time. He came from a special school and has DSA but it's more aimed at academic support. He is Autistic.

I wasn't really around when he left for uni so feel I have let him down as would have organised him and done a schedule. I have cancer though and was in hospital... bad bloody timing.

He has a reading week soon so I will be picking him up.... and a ton of washing. I feel really on edge and helpless...

Needed to get that off my chest.

@Stomacharmeleon have a look at launderettes in his area that could do a service wash . Send him the money if you can afford it .

Stomacharmeleon my dd has eaten pizza almost every day since she started 3 weeks ago 😬, I have bought her a air fryer but so far she’s only used it to cook chips to go with her pizza.
Dd doesn’t do washing either, luckily I am only a hour away so I have collected her washing and am returning it to her this weekend but she will have to start doing it. She does have lots of clothes so can probably get away with washing clothes every 2 weeks. Dd is autistic and dyspraxia so she’s struggling with the day to day living skills rather than studying but she’s surviving and doing better than I thought.
I know it’s all a huge worry, dd is doing her first trip into the city alone today (her campus isn’t in the city) and I am more worried than she is, I am sure she will be fine as we have been getting to know the city for a while before she started uni but she’s never used public transport before. I have offered to pick her up for the weekend this weekend but she’s not keen on coming home until Christmas.

@buttons123456 that's a good idea. Will investigate.
