Ffs just tell us when the funeral is!

Just tell us if its the Saturday or the Monday please ffs. 'Expected' to be is driving me mad.

My local paper said schools are being prepared to close for the queen’s funeral,people need to suck it up!.she was THE QUEEN for god sake.

DH has a long-awaited dental appointment on the Monday, so we'd rather it was any other day!

Waiting, waiting. I wish the media would stop with their speculation of which day it will be, as it's confusing. I want a definitive date so we know what's happening.

It won't be Saturday, that's too soon. Monday 19 September is Day10 which has always been the planned funeral date (although day zero was today rather than yesterday due to the announcement being late in the day) so I would assume it's that unless they have a good reason to change it.

Closures are a different matter. I have no idea on those.

I agree that's a very valid reason. But it appears nobody is allowed to want to know.

I've seen every notice from the DfE. Schools aren't "being" prepared for anything.

So far all we've really been told is to cancel celebratory events. Schools individually may be making plans/considering scenarios, but there's been nothing official.

Is it wrong that I hope it's the 19th so I can get an extra day off after my week off work?

If supermarkets are to be shut then people might want to get their groceries in.

Also that if it’s on Monday there won’t be a bank holiday but that closures will be at companies’ discretion.

It's not at all an unreasonable question as you say @Sparklingbrook . I want to know as well, and both DH and I wfh on Mondays usually so for us childcare is not an issue. But it is fairly obvious how much of an issue it can be for many people and for many organisations.

I hope we hear very soon so that people can hopefully put in place whatever they need to do for their own circumstances.

Is it not fairly obvious? The funeral will be a massive event, the logistics and policing are going to be huge, and it's going to have an impact on whatever's going on that day. Even if the schools stay open, which we don't seem to know one way or another yet, so many people are going to be affected by when the date is.

She’s been dead about 27 hours. I can’t believe people can’t grasp the enormity of what has to be arranged. Especially as her death caught everyone off-guard.

If it's on 19th then I already have a funeral to go to that day, of another very old lady, but one that I actually knew.
