LongLivedQueen · 09/09/2022 18:41

Its on Monday the 19th. What the fuck does it matter though?

CrapBucket · 09/09/2022 18:41

Of course they know, its all planned and has been for years. Its hardly like they have to check venue availability or if their preferred vicar is on holiday. It would help the general population out a lot by confirming promptly.

I didn’t think it could be on a weekend.

Diana and the Duke of E were both on Saturdays.

MercurialMonday · 09/09/2022 18:42

The original London bridge planning is 10 days after - making it Sunday apparently- but a few things that should have happened on day 1 got done today as news was late in day.

I think that may still be adapting plans.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 09/09/2022 18:43

Surely everyone just takes their own marmalade sandwich?

OverTheHillAndDownTotherSide · 09/09/2022 18:44

PAFMO · 09/09/2022 18:41

Diana and the Duke of E were both on Saturdays.

They weren’t reigning monarchs.

gettingolderandgrumpier · 09/09/2022 18:45

They are saying likely they Monday so i reckon that .

MercurialMonday · 09/09/2022 18:45

Had bank holiday been announced ?

I haven't seen it on news sites and original plan left the bank holiday as optional to be decided between palace and government at the time.

Cismyfatarse · 09/09/2022 18:45

Is it not to do with coordinating with overseas mourners, especially the Commonwealth heads of governments. Presume Biden etc so will need to be carefully planned to avoid diary clashes / religious festivals or being accused of not making it open to all those entitled to attend.

BigBearLittleBear · 09/09/2022 18:46

You’ve got plenty of time to buy a hat, don’t worry.

EL8888 · 09/09/2022 18:46

@CrapBucket please be generous with the pineapple and cheese. I especially like them!

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 09/09/2022 18:46

It was planned for D+10 which would be the Sunday but surely they have a plan for what they would do if it did fall on a Sunday.

Mywatchis · 09/09/2022 18:46

Its on Monday the 19th. What the fuck does it matter though?

It matters a lot if you want to watch it/go to London etc and make arrangements accordingly

You do not know it's on that date as no date has yet been announced

giveovernate · 09/09/2022 18:47

TigerRag · 09/09/2022 18:29

Give them a chance; she only died yesterday FFS.

I don't think they'll be waiting to see what the queue is like at the local crem!

EL8888 · 09/09/2022 18:47

@OverTheHillAndDownTotherSide exactly, she was a reigning monarch so it’s rather different

I reckon Monday and it will be a bank holiday in all but name

FirstFallopians · 09/09/2022 18:48

I am NIrish and usually you hear of a death and the funeral date at the same time here. V quick turnarounds.

DH’s granny died last year before 10am, and the date, 3 days later, was organised that evening.

I just want to know so I can sort childcare if the schools are closed.

Beefilm · 09/09/2022 18:48

Its bound to be the Monday because that is the day dh and I have already taken off work and are staying in a hotel and having a bit of an extended weekend. We had plans to visit some attractions which will now be closed. It's a small thing I realise but disappointing for us after a tough year holiday wise.

But they wouldn't know the date she was going to pass?

Its on Monday the 19th. What the fuck does it matter though?

Because businesses need to plan if they are closed. We are fully booked four weeks in advance, customers will not be happy if suddenly we can not do their vehicle, and it isn't as simple as just moving it all on a day.

We are one business, it will cause lots of problems for us, that's not to say I don't support it BUT I do need as much notice as possible.

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 09/09/2022 18:49

It will be the Monday if the timetable being talked about in the press is followed.

Sunday 11th - travel from Balmoral to Palace of Holyroodhouse
Monday 12th - coffin moved to St Giles cathedral and service there followed by period of ‘Lying at Rest’ including a vigil of the Princes
Tuesday 13th - Transfer to London and Buckingham Palace
Wednesday 14th - Saturday 17th - Official lying in state at Westminster Hall enabling general public to process past and pay respects
Also during this time King Charles III will visit the various realms of the nation
From Friday 16th foreign dignitaries and heads of state will arrive in London for state funeral

It is unlikely a funeral will take place on the Sunday and, with lying in state not due to conclude until the evening of the Saturday then it’s highly unlikely the funeral will be held before the Monday!

MercurialMonday · 09/09/2022 18:49

Its on Monday the 19th. What the fuck does it matter though?

If it's Monday I'd think a Bank holiday would be more likely and affect schools and some work places.

JubileeTissues · 09/09/2022 18:49

"Yes it’s going to be a bank holiday"

How do you know? Confused

MermaidEyes · 09/09/2022 18:50

A lot of news sites and papers are reporting the 19th. Also saw something about restrictions on air flights over London on that day but don't know how true that is.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 09/09/2022 18:50

There’s no plans to close businesses or schools. The government has a briefing on the mourning on the website, uploaded this morning. It won’t be a bank holiday. Employers can decide whether to close for themselves. From memory, they’ve asked major sports events to move times to avoid a clash as much as possible, but that’s all.

RainydaysandFridays · 09/09/2022 18:50

I read it was Monday the 19th
