A continuation from thread 2. This is a place to mourn HM Queen Elizabeth II with respect and compassion, and to share our thoughts and feelings. RIP Our Wonderful Queen.

I thought Charles did really well with the crowds but agree Camilla not so much . She boarded the plane pretty quickly and seemed distracted (hardly surprising with the enormity of her new role) when looking at the flowers.

the80sweregreat · 09/09/2022 19:08

Camilla looked shell shocked.
I think we can give a pass for being a but distracted!
It's a strange time when someone dies

YoniWheretheSunDontShine · 09/09/2022 19:33

Remember it won't only impact Camila but also her family, her children and grandchildren etc.

She's no spring chicken!

Vapeyvapevape · 09/09/2022 20:27

I'm watching the tribute to the Queen, do you think the bits with Charles speaking were prerecorded? Surely he wouldn't have filmed it today .

IconicKitty · 09/09/2022 20:33

@Vapeyvapevape it would have been prerecorded. They aired a similar programme just after Phillip died and it was said that they record these interviews frequently to use as and when required and be ready to go.

Veeragall · 09/09/2022 20:36

@Vapeyvapevape im fairly sure I've seen a lot of this before. I think it may have been in a previous tribute to the Queen's reign.

Vapeyvapevape · 09/09/2022 20:37

How difficult to speak about your mother as if she's dead when she's actually alive and well !

Vapeyvapevape · 09/09/2022 20:38

But Her children are wearing black , I'm sure if their bits had been shown before they would have been wearing colours.

No because they'd asked them to speak about her in the past tense. They knew what they were filming for.

DandelionSoup · 10/09/2022 07:29

They filmed it earlier in the afternoon yesterday

Vapeyvapevape · 10/09/2022 07:54

How on earth did they hold it together? I can't imagine being able to do this.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/09/2022 08:04

no i am sure they filmed in advance
i remember during the jubilee watching it and i am sure one person said was instead of is,
perhaps they recorded twice,
one for now, one for later

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/09/2022 08:08

they just announced because they did film it shortly before her death.

the80sweregreat · 10/09/2022 08:17

I'm sure that a few tributes were recorded whist she was still alive.

Dinoteeth · 10/09/2022 09:48

Boris said he was asked in to speak about her in past tense so yes some of those interviews when done while she was still alive.

If they weren't at what point in the day on Thursday would Ann, Ed and Charles have had time to do interviews?

RedToothBrush · 10/09/2022 10:18

I'm watching the proclaimation ceremony on TV.

Thinking about it, last time there would not have been anyone but white males in the mood.

Today women signed the proclaimation and there are lots of women in the room.

There are also non white individuals.

Its madness to think how much it has changed.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/09/2022 10:22

yes,
john major in a morning suit

david cameron seems to have a blue suit
their clothes would be different, and indeed no women, and no cameras.
a lot of chatting going on
prince william is left handed
bit deal for Liz Truss in her new job!

LookItsMeAgain · 10/09/2022 10:31

I mean with all of the furniture in all of the palaces, could they not have found a bigger table and sorted out the inkwells and pens a bit batter?

I was actually laughing when Charles indicated that he didn't want the pens to fall off the table and someone's hand went up to take them while he signed the declaration.

LookItsMeAgain · 10/09/2022 10:32

*better not batter (oops)

LookItsMeAgain · 10/09/2022 10:33

Camilla looks like she's about to break out laughing. She probably can't get over that she's hit the jackpot!

RedToothBrush · 10/09/2022 10:35

Also thank god this wasn't a few year ago when Rees mogg was head of the house of commons. Penny Mordaunt is perfect for the job and doing it so well.

I loved that. It was so human and imperfect.

Also see William asking for pens, moving out of the way and then going back to put the top back on the ink.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/09/2022 10:38

i think King Charles (!) pocketed the pen!
i think camilla has the giggles
Penny doing well

And the throne needs a new cushion.
