Wedding on day of Queen’s funeral!!!

RIPQueen · 08/09/2022 19:12

The Daily Mail are saying funeral is on day 10 of mourning. Assuming tomorrow is day 1, is that not Sunday 18th? What happens to a wedding on that day?!

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 20:40

I thought talk is its likely to be Monday 19th.

DrRuthGalloway · 08/09/2022 20:41

Sat 17 is moving in day for thousands of UK students starting uni. I hope it's the Monday as postponing freshers for a day is much easier than changing moving day for working parents....

Get married? Accept some guests will feel unable to attend.

Confused

Why would the queens funeral stop anyone moving into halls??

Honestly some of these posts are insane. Do you think everyone should be sat at home, dressed in black with their curtains closed?

I would want to watch it. Perhaps set up a TV like people do for the world Cup. A quiet zone for reflection.

I've heard it all now.

Murraysmum · 08/09/2022 20:51

Just be prepared for any service providers to cancel. My friend got married on the day of Princess Dianas funeral. Both her florist and hairdresser cancelled on her as they were going to close for the day as a mark of respect.

Macaroni1924 · 08/09/2022 20:51

anyone know what the significance is of the 10days?

Because the unis may close as a mark of respect?

I think its to give Charles a bit of time to go around all the nations?

Just seen this

Yes I did think Charles had a lot of travelling to do so the more time the better

Why would anyone feel they can’t attend ?? I doubt any of her friends know the queen personally 😂😂

Exactly.

icelolly12 · 08/09/2022 20:55

I hope its a Monday so we get at least one day off work

Thanks I just wondered what this was about.

WTF? I think the Queen did a great job. However, I've booked the day off work in order to deposit one of my children at university on that day, and nfw am I changing that now.

This "mark of respect" thing is sheer bollocks. If anyone had asked the Queen when she was alive, she'd have advocated a stiff upper lip and carrying on as normal. She didn't go dripping around making "marks of respect" when her husband died, so I imagine she'd have been thinking that any palaver was misplaced and unnecessary.

Septemberslooming · 08/09/2022 20:59

Today is classed as day 0 so the funeral date will be Monday 19th September

Royal mail strike cancelled for tomorrow also

Every cloud, etc. I doubt the Queen would have had much sympathy for them anyway.

These arrangements have been planned for years so she would have endorsed them.
I'm in a similar situation so will just have to see what happens.

whenwillthemadnessend · 08/09/2022 21:02

There are 5 days prep then the coffin is moved to Westminster for 3 days for public to pay respects.

Who is going to check them in if it is a non working day?

TooHotToTangoToo · 08/09/2022 21:03

You get married, I got married the same day as Diana's funeral. It was fine and everyone had a wonderful day

Diana didn’t have a state funeral though. This is completely different.
