Wedding on day of Queen’s funeral!!!

The Daily Mail are saying funeral is on day 10 of mourning. Assuming tomorrow is day 1, is that not Sunday 18th? What happens to a wedding on that day?!

So what on earth are people who are due to get married on the day of the funeral supposed to do? Everything will be planned and paid for. Does wedding insurance cover cancellation due to funeral of the monarch?

It should cover it it if the venue cancels

Princesspeony · 08/09/2022 20:05

The funeral will be Monday the 19th.

CrabbitBastard · 08/09/2022 20:09

I'm meant to be in London that week - in the area around Westminster - would roads still be closed after the funeral do you think, or reopened the next day?

Is the funeral definitely on the Sunday and not the Monday?

whenwillthemadnessend · 08/09/2022 20:10

No one knows yet. Just wait for the official announcement.

I'm flying out on the sat and am quite prepared for it to be cancelled.

Will be 3rd time cancelled two due to covid. Not meant to be.

MadameMinimes · 08/09/2022 20:11

Could those confidently saying that it will be the Monday post where they are getting that information from? The press are all reporting different days. Some say “expected day” is D Day +9, some say it’s D +10. I’ve not seen any news outlet confidently saying it will be the Monday and most seem to be cautiously predicting the Saturday or Sunday.

I read it goes like this:

Today 8 September: D day (they call it this apparently)
9 D1
10 D2
11 D3
12 D4
13 D5
14 D6
15 D7
16 D8
17 D9
Sunday 18th Sept D10 Funeral

Possible that they will have it on Monday but who knows…

Having said all that it would make sense to hold the funeral on Saturday 17th

Cantthinkofausername01 · 08/09/2022 20:11

Saturday the 17th

Wedding on day of Queen’s funeral!!!
emerald7 · 08/09/2022 20:12

Today is day 1 that's my understanding from what I have read.

EntertainingandFactual · 08/09/2022 20:13

Train strike reported to be cancelled…

EntertainingandFactual · 08/09/2022 20:14

’According to POLITICO, which obtained a copy of the London Bridge planning last year, the day of the queen’s death will be internally known as “D-Day,” and her funeral will be held on D-Day+10.’

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 08/09/2022 20:14

They won't hold her funeral on the Sunday.

Train strike reported to be cancelled…

Are the two things linked?

FredGarland · 08/09/2022 20:15

I hope it's not the 19th - I'm taking my class on Residential.
But up and down the country there will be people like the OP (and me) who are crossing their fingers for 'not that day'. It's so strange.

Cantthinkofausername01 · 08/09/2022 20:16

Royal mail strike cancelled for tomorrow also

Gymnopedie · 08/09/2022 20:17

luxxlisbon · 08/09/2022 20:15

Are the two things linked?

Yes. Out of respect for the Queen and so that people can travel to London to pay their respects if they wish.

EntertainingandFactual · 08/09/2022 20:17

luxxlisbon · 08/09/2022 20:15

Are the two things linked?

The train operators obviously seem to think so if the unions have cancelled the strike on the 17th…
Presumably out of respect for the Queen so that people can travel to London to pay their respects? I don’t know?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 08/09/2022 19:16

I didn't realise you could get married on a Sunday.

Because... why? Churches are shut?

EntertainingandFactual · 08/09/2022 20:18

Xpost @Gymnopedie !

daisydoods · 08/09/2022 20:22

Our DD2s christening is also Sunday 18th, I was wondering what happens too

Doidontimmm · 08/09/2022 20:23

@EntertainingandFactual do you have a link for this news re trains please?

RIPQueen · 08/09/2022 20:25

I fail to see how this thread is bizarre

We're also due to attend a wedding on the 17th.

Once upon a time I think all weddings between now and the funeral probably would have been postponed. But I think that's unlikely nowadays.

BrokenMatress · 08/09/2022 20:30

My DD has a C of E wedding on the 17th
No flowers I assume
Hopefully the funeral is the 19th - otherwise it will just be a bloody good party

LONDON (Reuters) - British trade union RMT said on Thursday they had suspended strike action scheduled for Sept. 15 and 17, saying they will join the nation in paying respects to Queen Elizabeth following the monarch's death.1 hour ago

Just Google ‘Train strike cancelled Queens death’ and you can see the reports👍🏻

GretaVanFleet · 08/09/2022 20:37

If you were fancy enough to have York Minster as your choice of wedding venue, you wouldn’t be able to get married during the mourning nor the day of the funeral. I don’t know about other churches.
