Wedding on day of Queen’s funeral!!!

The Daily Mail are saying funeral is on day 10 of mourning. Assuming tomorrow is day 1, is that not Sunday 18th? What happens to a wedding on that day?!

It'll be Monday the 19th

Nobody knows when it will be

callmebridezilladontcare · 09/09/2022 15:30

I wish they would just announce already. It's already so late in the day that the register's office won't get back to us until Monday, if we're lucky. That gives us just 7 days for any arrangements and/or cancellations, and vendor updates, with full time work at the same time cause we can't afford to take time off. For some people maybe less depending on what exactly they announce.
My venue isn't even picking up the phone. Our wedding coordinator is missing in action.

nachoavocado · 09/09/2022 15:32

I wonder why they are taking so long to announce it

Aly484 · 09/09/2022 15:34

I am getting married on the 19th and that is rumoured to be the day of the funeral. The registry office said things are going as planned. I just hope they don't declare it a bank holiday. This is the second time we are trying to get married. First time there was lockdown a day before we were supposed to get married. People might feel sensitive about things going ahead even with the funeral but we would lose a lot of money and we really cannot afford it.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 09/09/2022 15:57

I didn't say you couldn't get married on A Sunday, just that I'd never realised you could. I've never heard of it, and our local.registry office is closed on Sundays. Churches have so many services on a Sunday that I'd be surprised if they were able to fit a wedding in between morning service and evensong.

But of course I realise I was being very narrow minded in my thinking and hadn't considered weddings in other faith groups.

Anyway, as you were......

Sundays are extremely popular at hotel and country house non-religious weddings

I've just got word from our venue that the registry will definitely go ahead, even in the day of. The only issue is whether or not Royal Parks will close - and subsequently all businesses inside. As mine is - of course - a Park wedding, we need to wait until early next week to know for sure.
Without a definitive funeral date announced today, it's basically impossible to plan over the weekend. So, I wish everyone impacted by this lots of mental strength, and let's hope it will all be well in the end. Please fingers crossed that the Royal Parks don't (all) close.

Slightlystressedbride · 09/09/2022 20:01

Ahhh @callmebridezilladontcare assuming you're in London I think I can guess your venue now - beautiful. Fingers crossed for you.

@RIPQueen our church and reception venue have almost fully confirmed we'll be ok, it sounds like if it's not the day of the funeral we'll definitely be ok but even if it is in all likelihood it will be. Really really hope you're in the clear and all the other brides on this thread.

They must know when the funeral is by now surely?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2022 20:02

I thought they said it was Monday

callmebridezilladontcare · 09/09/2022 20:36

No, no clear date was officially given by the time I spoke to my venue who spoke in turn to the Royal Parks staff.

Eross87 · 09/09/2022 20:50

I’m also due to get married 17th but in a registry office so waiting to hear what’s happening

Eross87 · 09/09/2022 20:52

I’m also getting married the 17th fingers crossed for you xx

Aly484 · 10/09/2022 17:56

Well ladies, you are the lucky ones. Now Monday 19th is a bank holiday and a funeral. I have lost any hope that I can still have a wedding on that day. I am literally losing everything second time. I am afraid to even think of a third time.

Don't despair! Hang in there! My date is the same as yours. I'm frantically moving everything to the 20th since ours deffo can't go ahead. Looks like chaos all over but it is very likely some wedding can still happen. Can you possibly try and move for the day after? It's tough but may be doable! Thinking of you, I know how difficult this all is.

Slightlystressedbride · 10/09/2022 18:50

Oh @Aly484 Sad so sorry. Will you have the choice of whether it could do ahead or is the registry office going to be closed now?

Chezzaaaaaa · 11/09/2022 09:25

Mine is on the 19th at 11am
Literally been crying all weekend
Its at a registry office and they close on bank hols 😩😩😩
everything else is booked/in place
i don’t have wedding insurance as it’s literally just the 2 of us and our witnesses
but still!!!
broken
and I’m not being disrespectful in what I’m saying…
so please be kind
it’s just my wedding day 💔

Slightlystressedbride · 11/09/2022 09:54

Oh @Chezzaaaaaa I'm so sorry!!!
Could you see if they could shift it to the weekend and then still have your celebrations as planned on the Monday?
Absolutely gutted for you, this is so cruel 💔

Yeah, to the extent that there've been threads on here about the potential pitfalls! It's a definite thing, just less so for people having religious Christian ceremonies.

Aly484 · 11/09/2022 10:55

I can't do anything until Monday. I have already emailed everyone but nothing happens until Monday. I will try everything I can but I honestly don't think it will be possible on such short notice. My parents travel from far away for our wedding and they leave on Wednesday morning so I really don't think the registry office can find us a spot for Tuesday.

CrabbitBastard · 11/09/2022 11:08

Well my council are saying booked ceremonies will go ahead as planned at the registry office.

Can't you rearrange? Perhaps they can fit you in later in the week?

At least it's not a huge wedding with full meal, loads of people travelling etc to replan.

Chezzaaaaaa · 11/09/2022 11:33

Mines the 19th too 💔
