The Daily Mail are saying funeral is on day 10 of mourning. Assuming tomorrow is day 1, is that not Sunday 18th? What happens to a wedding on that day?!

Well my council are saying booked ceremonies will go ahead as planned at the registry office.

Can I ask which council?
I’ve tried googling but nothing saying anything…
will be ringing them at 9am tomorrow with everything crossed!!!!!

Guys, I would recommend that you call no matter what you have been told. It was still going ahead on Friday and this morning I don't know if is still going ahead. Apparently the building is rented so if the landlord decides that he wants to close the building, then my wedding is gone. I am now waiting for them to get back to me.

Any joy aly484? I'm also supposed to get married that day and am waiting to hear back from the registry office.

No wedding for me on Monday anymore. Fortunately they managed to book me in next day. Obviously I don't know if anyone but my parents can make it but at least is still going ahead. Stressful week ahead finding witnesses, arranging stuff once again. Good luck with your day!

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your guests will still be able to come. It's just crazy that this has happened.

Fantastic! Ours didn't go through because the building is closed that day not because they didn't want to. So I know whom to blame. All I care now is to get this over with. I have no witnesses ATM(my parents are foreign) and no guests but who cares anymore. I already feel like the last 4 days were way too stressful to have any more energy.

HollyFlan · 12/09/2022 16:55

Aly484, I hope it's still intimate and personal for you on the day, I know how stressful it's been for me the past few days, so I can't imagine your situation after already having things cancelled and re-arranged.

I'm a BBC journalist and I'm really keen to talk to anyone who has planned their wedding for the 19 September. Wht are you going to do? Are you going to postpone or go ahead? If you are doing either and you're getting hitched that day and you're up for talking to the BBC please do drop me a note to [email protected] and we can have a chat. Thanks loads

Arnaquer · 13/09/2022 21:39

Ah fingers crossed for you all. I got married o the day of Diana's funeral, not quite such a big occasion but memorable!

@JohnyBBC you're not allowed to post media requests, I don't think, without permission! Plus most councils are letting pre booked weddings go ahead so I doubt you'll get many responses.
