The Queen is under 'medical supervision'

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace says.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Her immediate family has been informed.

The announcement comes after the Queen, 96, pulled out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.

Breaking news BBC

We very much hope she is okay, it made me feel sad to read this. I think the line her immediate family have been informed was a worrying line.

Fucking hell that BBC tweet mess up was so bad. I'm guessing this means it has indeed happened and journos have been informed

More likely she saw one of the fake BBC tweets on twitter and didn't bother to bloody fact check.

heforgot · 08/09/2022 15:51

@Tierne what tweet? Latest one is about the flight, is that the one you mean?

look at the way the runway points, it has to line up first !

I don't think it has to line up from nearly 20 miles away first though. Planes (particularly Falcon 900LX private jets) are fairly agile in the air and can manoeuvre into position with relative ease.

I wonder if they applaud the pilot when the plane touches down on the runway? 😆

The bbc is just shocking have the say she’s not even dead and they are standing outside frothing at the mouth waiting for her to die wtf

feels like really poor taste

No they aren't. The potential death of a monarch is a huge national and worldwide event. If they didn't cover it in detail they would be criticised, if they jumped between other news stories they would be criticised. They have to cover it. The RF know that and will be protected from this coverage.
Don't watch it if you find it difficult.
I had hoped it might be being over-egged but I think it is very serious.
For the country it will be an event of enormous significance, change and there will be national grief and the biggest of state funerals.
I am not a royalist but I admire HM The Queen and will be sad if she dies.

I think the 7th member on board will be Sarah Chatto, they’re very close.

I think it was 7 members of the Royal Household not Royal Family.

I got very Mumsnet-confused there for a minute and mixed her up with Sarah Raven and wondered what she'd be doing there...

girlmom21 · 08/09/2022 15:52

Have they put the apprentice on the camera today?

Aquarius1234 · 08/09/2022 15:52

Wow end of an era.

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 15:52

It's landed. That's got to be one relieved pilot.

I watched Liz Truss's plane too. They're all on there .

God I'm sad

tactum · 08/09/2022 15:52

Presume the BBC are altering the news studio on some way ready for the announcement - they've just been showing video footage with voices over for about an hour I think

VestaTilley · 08/09/2022 15:52

God love her.

I hope and pray she makes a swift recovery.

Aquarius1234 · 08/09/2022 15:53

Who is the news presenter on bbc one?

He landed it perfectly as well - he must have had a sweaty forehead

God save the queen

It’s the Queen, not Lazarus. If a recovery was remotely likely I doubt they would be doing all this.

At about 2pm a colleague showed me an email she had received from a friend who works at the BBC, which appeared to be a copy of the message they had received telling them of the news and preparing for an announcement. I took it with a pinch of salt because I'd have thought it would be very much on a need to know basis and those who had it would know better than to forward it, but who knows?

Aquarius1234 · 08/09/2022 15:54

I just see the plane no volume.

have flown into aberdeen several times and always approached from the south. Anyway it has indeed landed.

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2022 15:54

EdieLedwell · 08/09/2022 15:50

That sounds fairly conclusive

NOT REALLY NO.

This isn't a BBC journo who is likely to be in the loop.

They have jumped the gun and believed fake BBC tweets.

No they would know .

I worked there when Harry was in Afghanistan and knew all about it when it was hush hush. Something this big the journos will know , it will be all hands to the deck

IceandIndigo · 08/09/2022 15:55

I think it’s quite likely she has already gone but they want the family there before they officially announce it. That way they can say she went peacefully surrounded by family. The media have clearly been told to expect a further announcement.

As someone who’s been fairly indifferent to the Royal Family my whole life, I’m surprised how sad/shocked I feel.

There's no way they would tell everyone at the BBC. It would be leaked in 10 seconds.

youmakemesigh · 08/09/2022 15:56

It's apparently not possible for helicopters to fly there.

Well given the news that the Queen is gravely ill and the Royal Family are on the way, you would kind of expect the BBC to be telling staff to prepare for the worst. Cos they have to carry out London Bridge.

That doesn't mean its DEFINTELY happened yet.

Yes, I'm sure they'd know, I'm not sure they'd be forwarding it to their mate who loves a bit of gossip!

stillherenow · 08/09/2022 15:57

There's loads of stuff journos know that isn't in the public domain . And it has been leaked - see the tweet mentioned by pp
