Time for the Queen to abdicate?

If the first day of our new 'Prime Minister' is spent having to do a 1,000 mile round trip to Balmoral and back, rather than sorting out immediate problems, then is it time for the Queen to abdicate and let Charles take over?

If guess the two Leaders leaving are because it’s potentially a security issue so they need to be briefed on the full situation.

“Comfortable” is a very deliberate choice of words.

They’re generally very vague about health issues pertaining to any member of the Royal Family, so to put out a statement in this way suggests it’s significant.

Comfortable is usually the word used when someone is actively dying.
But even if she is, it could still take weeks.

Probably a few days left I would have thought
Maybe a week.
Prince Charles will have to start coming out of his retirement!!

GaffNest · 08/09/2022 12:50

Not looking good.

She’s been a giant figure on the world stage for seven decades, and the way she has handled herself has been exemplary.

CaveMum · 08/09/2022 12:51

Clarence House have put out a statement saying Charles, Camilla and William are on their way to Balmoral.

SleeplessInEngland · 08/09/2022 12:52

I always wondered if, when it finally happened, it'd be a sudden news announcement or a build-up to emotionally prepare everyone. I guess I have my answer.

Rinoachicken · 08/09/2022 12:53

BBC saying Charles and Camilla are heading to Balmoral

Alexandra2001 · 08/09/2022 12:54

We are going to get 24/7 coverage, which will be terrible for her family, zero privacy.

I'm no Royalist but i feel sorry for her/them, they are in a Goldfish bowl.

vera99 · 08/09/2022 12:58

Was wondering why Harry and Meghan were staying at Windsor.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 08/09/2022 13:03

When the Queen dies, I will be staying off here for about a fortnight, AND I'll be staying off that toxic far-left-controlled cesspit Twitter for about a month, because I'll be devastated, and the nasty negative shit I KNOW some people will be posting will really upset me.

The extent of the coverage is laid out in a plan for her death and this has been approved by her.

I did not clock that.

CaveMum · 08/09/2022 13:07

BBC saying Charles is at Balmoral and William is flying up (presume by helicopter as a plane would still involve an hour's drive, I believe.

A life of privilege has enabled her to look good for her age. It is still clear that she has not got long left.

Damn, I jinxed her. Sorry*

*not really. It is time.

Twitter has already started

Me too. You’d hope they’d hit the pause button on the vitriol for a couple of weeks but I suspect they won’t.

Oh honestly. This is not a time for flippancy.

LuftBalloons · 08/09/2022 13:21

Oh god , I feel after the last 3 years of pandemic and toxic politics , this country really can’t take any more.

I hope Mrs Windsor lives to be 100

greenhousegal · 08/09/2022 13:21

It is amazing how quickly they can deteriorate, having just done the standing and other Royal biz for the new PM, looking ok and still with that delicious smile.

Had a massive stroke I'd say, but what do I know? I really thought she would get pneumonia and slip away.

If she is dangerously ill and passes away soon, it is certainly one of the most momentous things to happen in UK in a long time. All the other stuff pales into insignificance.

But she ain't gone yet.

herecomesthsun · 08/09/2022 13:27

Nothing to say except sympathy for them (and I am if anything a lifelong republican, but rather admire HM nonetheless)

I didn't know that, how does one control the media? sure BBC/ITV but certainly not the papers or SM, they are all a law unto themselves.

Anyway, she may still carry on a while longer, i hope so.

diddl · 08/09/2022 13:53

I think she hasn't really looked well since Philip died.

Lost an awful lot of weight & been in a gradual decline since then I would think.

Happy now?

The excuse that you couldn't possibly have Johnson and Truss travelling on the same planes as a matter of national security seems odd now you can have 7 royals on the same plane, including the second in line to the throne and various other people directly in the line of succession.

No it doesn’t. William was not travelling with his father nor with his eldest son. The Succession is safe.
