On Holiday and hate it!

Was just after some moral support am on holiday with my daughter in a shit all inclusive in turkey horrible place and horrible hotel. We are here until Monday 😭honestly been in tears and just want to come home. Any words of wisdom to keep us going. They want £650 for an earlier flight home that I just can’t afford.

God, ring tui or whoever it is and demand to be moved. Don't just sit around doing nothing.

Can you afford to just treat it as a base and go to
local beaches etc during the day plus buy one decent meal out each day. I find Turkey pretty good value for day trips, is this an option? Check out Viator.

What were the reviews like before you booked? Sorry you are having such a miserable time. At least when my daughter and I go, she is in her mid twenties so we do have alcohol as a solace if all goes pear shaped. 🍐

Invest in the Google translate app. It's for me around language barriers a few times. Should you manage to escape it's also excellent at translating menus!

Went to Turkey earlier this summer and loved it. Great all inclusive. Staff were all fantastic with the kids. No pervy men. Think it's just about what you book.

What hotel / area are you in @Ilovemycatalot ? Might be able to give recommendations of places you could get away to for cheap day trips

Oh no, that’s horrible for you. Have you found anyone else to make friends/chat with. It might help you to feel less alone. I’d plan nice days out to look forward to & buy some nice lunches out if you can. We had some fabulous food in Turkey.

If it’s with a big tour operator (Tui or jet2…?) try messaging through Twitter or their Facebook pages. They’re usually quite responsive on there. They should have a rep in the area - if not for your specific hotel they should have someone you can contact.

If you've gone on a package holiday then speak to your rep, they may be able to move you.

I have contacted tour operator all they can offer is an earlier flight at £650

Definitely complain to the tour operator, but from experience you will need photo/ video evidence of every issue that you raise in your complaint.
It's a bit of a pain, but if you have the energy to pursue, it can be worthwhile... And they will pay out in cash, not holiday vouchers!

I feel bad for you but with all due respect, moaning on Mumsnet isn’t going to improve things for you and your child. You need to stand up for yourself and email the holiday company asap to make a proper complaint. Everyone has a shit holiday at some point but you don’t just have to accept it.
