Was just after some moral support am on holiday with my daughter in a shit all inclusive in turkey horrible place and horrible hotel. We are here until Monday 😭honestly been in tears and just want to come home. Any words of wisdom to keep us going. They want £650 for an earlier flight home that I just can’t afford.

I have heard horror stories.

But no one should be groped on holiday and then just laugh it off. How does that help anyone?

The bulk of Turkish taxis do not have an identity such as ‘ABC Taxis’, so reporting would not be easy. I guess it would also be a “he said, she said” situation in the end.

I think the groped poster felt it best to not be abandoned in the middle of nowhere. Her post was quite detailed on that.

A horrible situation I agree, but on balance, keeping safe was sensible imho. Who knows who could have come along next? It’s definitely not like a UK holiday town at all.

My friend, in desperate need of a cheap holiday after a divorce, went to turkey last year, with her two dd’s, 18 and 22.
She was constantly asked where her husband was , when they we’re eating out in the evening, and her dd’s were leered at several times.
she said she would never go back!

Exactly this. A waiter suggested I should marry him as I was single, all I wanted was the friggin menu. Never again.

I went back to Turkey last October as a single parent with a teenage DD. We travelled a bit to Pamukkale, then stayed in a beautiful hill village to visit Ephesus before ending up in a lovely family run complex in Dalyan. We had no trouble at all and this included getting trains and public coaches/buses. In fact every one was respectful, friendly and helpful. I am sorry OP is having such an awful time but this is not my experience of Turkey at all. I went when DD was about 5, and we were all inclusive then for part of the trip before we travelled on to Istanbul- again fine but really did my research before booking hotels as at 4 (and cheaper 5 ) they really vary and it was about getting the best deal we could.

Egypt however was awful- but I was newly widowed so not emotionally robust. Tourism had been decimated and even at a 5* resort in Luxor, hotel staff were pestering to book boat trips with their family and also asking for my email. None overstepped the mark but I just was not up to it. The only place I was spared was in a simple, family run guest house in Giza- they even helped find me a guide to get around the pyramids unscathed, waited on the platform with us for the night train to luxor and were just amazing people.
