On Holiday and hate it!

Was just after some moral support am on holiday with my daughter in a shit all inclusive in turkey horrible place and horrible hotel. We are here until Monday 😭honestly been in tears and just want to come home. Any words of wisdom to keep us going. They want £650 for an earlier flight home that I just can’t afford.

What did your booking state? I wouldn't pay extra for something that I had booked, and had confirmation of in writing. Did you call the accommodation provider when they asked you for this extra money?

If you definitely booked a nicer room than the one you got then you shouldn't have had to pay for an upgrade. Check with the holiday company.

@honkeytonkwoman38 yes booking turkey was a mistake.

Call the main customer service numbers of whoever you booked with. I have never been on a holiday with reps on site, but I do always write down phone numbers of the people / offices I can call if I run into any problems.

Are there other families on site experiencing similar problems?

Anyway stuck here so have to deal with it just looking for some moral support .

Who did you book with? Are you travelling with a Travel company? Can you complain to their UK contact number / email?

Contact the holiday company and complain, being specific about the issues. Start with the safety.

With the food, 'disgusting' is too vague.

Many have already asked. Where in Turkey are you? If you let us know we can offer suggestions for days out etc

I would leave the hotel and go further afield, is there a village nearby?

I knew it was gonna be Turkey. I hated it there too.

Why is it outing to say 'Tui' for example?

If you are with a big tour operator then you need to get in touch with them quickly. We book with the large companies for security if something like this happens.

I'd be getting angry OP, you seem to have resigned yourself to this situation. Channel your inner anger now.

Request a refund on the upgrade (if that's definitely the room you had booked originally).
Complain about the lack of safety.
Fire up a search engine and research day trips you can go on.

If it's a big operator it won't be outing, they run literally hundreds of holidays each week.

Food disgusting as in under cooked and unidentifiable. Been living on chips and pasta so am getting by

Undercooked food (especially meat) is a health hazard. Complain.

Unidentified - what does that mean? Local dishes you don't know the ingredients of, or mushed up meat and potatoes in various forms?

It doesn't help you now unfortunately but when we go abroad we book with a big tour op like tui and look at reviews. They always have a rep there that speaks english. I always throughly check the hotel out before coming. I'd ask to be moved, call up who you booked with. We have never had an issue booking with tui and always been able to speak to British reps or one with very good English at least anyway.

I wouldn’t go turkey for this reason especially as a lone woman as I’ve heard similar things about the men

Have you called them? They might be able to help if you manage to speak to a real person - emails don't get answered for days or weeks at a time.

It’s meant to be a four star but more like 2 star.

We went to a 5 star hotel, supposedly very nice. Ugh we actually spent 700 to come back early. Hated Turkey, pervy men all over, just a general sense of feeling unsafe and having to look over our shoulder.
