Was just after some moral support am on holiday with my daughter in a shit all inclusive in turkey horrible place and horrible hotel. We are here until Monday 😭honestly been in tears and just want to come home. Any words of wisdom to keep us going. They want £650 for an earlier flight home that I just can’t afford.

Thanks all well my daughter came down with a serious allergic reaction whilst here swelling rash etc so had to go doctors ( thankgod there is one here) who gave her an injection and thankfully she is getting better .She has no known allergies but hotel reception basically said it could be from touching stuff in hotel as I said hygiene standards not great ( got pest control due to come here) or food allergy although she has never had any reactions in uk. Hayes are aware of all of this I have photo evidence of everything . It was quite scary as her whole face swelled up and rash on face and back just strange what made it happen. She hadn’t been in sea or swimming pool.

Antalya is a horrible place, hated it there. Wanted a small resort and tour operator put us there!!

Same experience I had in turkey. All inclusive hotel, drunk brits everywhere, out of control kids, undercooked food (the eggs still make me shudder)

I went out for coffee one day, found a nice looking place, no other customers but couldn’t be arsed to keep looking so went in and sat down. The owner locked me in, put “romantic” music on and decided we were on a date. It was terrifying and I’d never go back to turkey, horrible place, horrible men.

That sounds awful 😳 That hasn't been my experience of Turkey at all - I found the people lovely and they couldn't do enough for us when we were there.

I’m going to a 4 star in Antalya soon. Surely you should be willing to say where you are so people can avoid it? The one I’m going to has got mixed reviews also but I can’t afford the ones with amazing reviews.

Totally agree!

Sprockermum · 08/09/2022 07:31

So sorry you are having an awful time.... but to be fair to Turkey.. we went there in 2020 and couldn't have had a better time despite the pandemic. The hotel and staff were amazing... We always scour the reviews though before we book. It wasn't that expensive either. Wherever we went we were met with hospitality and friendliness even the public loo attendant was chatty and offering ladies a squirt of nice perfume. Best holiday ever tbh.

Alltheholidays · 08/09/2022 08:46

I hope your dd recovers well op. Put this holiday behind you, go home and maybe book a weekend away for you and dd somewhere in the uk.

when you’re booking a holiday for next year give Turkey a big swerve (apart from Istanbul which is fab).
Gteece, Spain or Portugal are brilliant!

GingerAlison · 08/09/2022 08:59

Well you did book a cheap holiday in Turkey what do you expect

I’d like to add Italy to your list if that’s okay? We found really cheap places flying into Napoli (stayed in Naples). Non English speaking so I think that was why, less touristy but just wow! At the time we booked (nearly a year in advance), was hundred less than Spain where we had initially hoped to go

Alltheholidays · 08/09/2022 15:43

@stayathomer Yes absolutely. Haven’t been to Italy for a few years, so might be time to go back.
We are thinking about next year’s holidays now.

Gemcat1 · 17/09/2022 20:44

First of all Turkey welcomes many English people so there should be at least one proper English speaking member of staff, they are doing it because they can. Secondly, and with due respect, many Muslim males see women as second class citizens and treat them accordingly. I have heard many good things about Turkey and, equally, many women who have been abused. I'm sorry that you don't like the food, much of it is delicious and half the fun of being on holiday is to eat local food. I think that you will find the Turkish guy is your company rep.

If If you unhappy with the hotel and your treatment in it then you should speak to the holiday company when you return home, you may be entitled to some compensation. But in the meantime, try to enjoy the rest of your stay, Turkey can be beautiful and there are many interesting places, it depends on which part of Turkey you are in as to where to go. Next time try to pick a country like Malta or Tenerife where they speak English and have English food.

VictoriaConcordiaCrescit · 05/09/2022 19:10

Nobody speaks English, how rude of them

It should be law that every resident in every country can speak fluent English

What???

I went to Turkey this summer and it was honestly the best holiday and absolutely loved it there. Initially our flight was late so we got a taxi (2hrs at 1am in the morning ) and the driver grouped and touched me and my teenage looking daughter up. We were in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal so just had to laugh it off for fear of being kicked out in night. But after that every Turkish we met were awesome. We stayed in a 2 star hotel but did loads of day trips. Turkey is such a beautiful place loads to do would absolutely recommend it. Traveled on my own with 3 kids and other than the taxi ride we're didn't feel unsafe. Eating out and day trips were super cheap in Alanya so Id recommended there. I hope your stay got better

BrokenAndAfraid · 17/09/2022 22:20

Also wanted to add that my kids got sick in Lanzerote- it can happen anywhere in the world. Woke up and couldn't open her eyes due to being so swollen, so even though I book as cheap as possible for holidays, I won't go cheap on insurance. You should definitely lodge an official complaint when you're back. I've booked 2 and 3 star hotels all over the world and the worst place I've stayed was here - pontins Camber Sands. Only time I've really feared our safety.

Sorry? What?! The driver groped and touched you both??? And you just laughed it off and carried on??? What the actual fuck. You need to report this and report to the taxi company. That’s absolutely horrendous.

SunshineAndSummer · 18/09/2022 00:28

There are good and bad hotels everywhere. In order to avoid disappointment check those reviews! Check the star rating! Check everything that is what I do!

BlodynGwyn · 05/09/2022 19:58

Visit the Antalya Archeology museum. No drunks in there and they have a child's section. Or explore the old town, Aspendos or Termessos. The area is rich in history.

Go to the archaeology museum, explore the area's rich cultural heritage, you think that's not for you, then you dont know until you have tried. Wear loose clothing, avoid eye contact with men and get out of the resort.

Golly. You're obviously not familiar with Turkey...

userxx · 18/09/2022 17:26

I went to turkey with another female and a couple of kids, never again! Absolutely did not feel safe and was constantly looking over my shoulder. Such a shame as people rave about it but I'll never go back.

I agree with this poster tbh. Turkey and carribean destinations (or any poor Country for that matter) but these imparticular I thought it was common knowledge to stay in a 4* at least. Antalya is super popular even amongst the elderly so I'm struggling to understand some of these comments about Turkey.

Also from some of the shitty comments here OP will research in future but to be Frank it's better she sticks to Spain if that's the case!

I have heard horror stories.

But no one should be groped on holiday and then just laugh it off. How does that help anyone?

Twos0ups · 19/09/2022 11:08

My friend, in desperate need of a cheap holiday after a divorce, went to turkey last year, with her two dd’s, 18 and 22.
She was constantly asked where her husband was , when they we’re eating out in the evening, and her dd’s were leered at several times.
she said she would never go back!

Mingot · 19/09/2022 16:31

@Afterfire reporting it would be pointless. Literally a waste of breath.
