To still live my best life even though I’m fat

Many mnetters hate fat people. They dress it up as concern for health. But I think it’s something deeper than that. Something about us letting ourselves lose self discipline or something. Some people even seem to think that we shouldn’t have nice clothes (let me tell you, no one purposely gains weight to wear some lovely plus size clothes).

reading some threads on here break my heart when women dread going to social events because they are fat.

aibu to say, fuck that, get on with your life and be happy even if you are fat. Wear the nice clothes, go to all the social events. And hey, eat the biscuit if you really want to

MN is a different world to the one I live in, there are a lot of very slim women on here and it's just not what I see in my life. When I see "average size 16" that absolutely fits with the school run, where I live, where I work, the train to work, the city I walk round in all day. On the school run there are lots of size 18s/20s. No-one bats an eyelid. I support a lady who is a size 32 and she gets treated with respect as I do as a size 12.
So it does feel a bit different on here.

@CookPassBabtridge just go to the school run of Notting hill prep or Westminster under school etc and you will see a teeny tiny minority of fat mums (some nannies are quite big). And I don't know if you've been to Paris or Milan but it's a similar thing. If you're the "urban elite" (saying this slightly tongue in cheek) you are unlikely to be fat. Sometimes things are really that easy. And people will make assumptions about your job and education level based on that too. This is not a race to the bottom and there's no pride in being like everyone else when everyone else is unhealthy too. I think this thread should be closed as no one is likely to move from their position

@forgotoldusername Oh so it’s just those of us on the lower socio-economic scale who can’t afford independent schools that are fat. Like Britney Spears said, the way to make yourself thinner is to hang out with fat people; I suppose the way to make yourself feel richer too is to shop at Aldi or Lidl where no doubt you will get to mix with both the fat and the poor.
