To feel sad it's now getting dark early

Just another reminder that we are losing our Summer with the nights now drawing in?
Why does it have to fly by so fast?

Nights always seem longer when it's dark.

How is it "utterly, utterly selfish", exactly? Does me liking the colder months push up fuel prices somehow? This kind of hyperbole is really weird.

As is the idea that the weather is controlled by people "wishing it away".

Because the warmer months usually go on into Oct; to relish the cold months coming faster, and gloat about your schnuggles (wtf even is that) your log fire, your hot chocolate and warm home knowing people can’t afford to heat their homes and eat is so utterly self absorbed

and the fact you can not grasp it and have to ask makes it so much worse. do you not understand the cost of living crisis. The impact on families, and how we should all hope it stays warmer for longer to limit the pain so many will feel?

but hey if you can dp hygee who cares right?

ooooooh muffled scream!! Hot choc knobs drive me insane

Me too. For some it’s like crack.

Can't wait for it to be chilly enough to snuggle up under a nice cosy blankie with the kiddies, with some yummy hot choccy and our lovely chunky winter jumpers. Get some candles and a log fire going - glorious hygge in one.

Will you have wrapped up the DC, chucked their wellies on, and been for a lovely splashy walk through the puddles, kicking up the leaves and looking out for conkers first?

MangosteenSoda · 02/09/2022 22:51

Deviant alert: I don’t like hot chocolate.

1982mommaof4 · 02/09/2022 22:52

The hate for people looking forward to cozy nights is bizarre... it's not gloating. My heating won't be in but I'll still look forward to cozy nights under a blanket.

I dread summer months due to having to find money for childcare for 5 weeks and two DC ... I'm dreading winter bills... I still look forward to picnics in summer and hot chocolate in winter

JaneJeffer · 02/09/2022 22:53

I'm guessing the snugglers don't have teenagers.

The point is if you can’t afford heating your home will not be cosy.

I love early Autumn up until the clock change at the end if October. I love the beautiful sunsets and crisp weather. I hate when it’s dark and wet and miserable. I hate January as it feels sooooo king and dark and dismal I could actually cry. Spring and Autumn are great.

What exactly is that, what’s a cozy snuggly? Never been in an unheated house yer that’s considered cozy and snuggly. Maybe you hold the magic key and can educate the world`?

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 02/09/2022 22:58

I resent myself for enjoying the taste of hot chocolate. It can only mean I must be at least 12% snuggly wanker.

I miss the long bright evenings too, OP. Farewell to still being bright at 10 o clock. I'll miss ya! Sad

1982mommaof4 · 02/09/2022 22:58

@Fairylightsongs it will we have blankets and hot water bottles... it's shit , it's scary but I love winter nights and I will make it work. October onwards is my favourite time of year and I intend to enjoy it.

1982mommaof4 · 02/09/2022 23:00

@Fairylightsongs supposed to say cozy snuggle

1982mommaof4 · 02/09/2022 23:01

@Fairylightsongs no magic key just make the best out of a shit situation.

BitOutOfPractice · 02/09/2022 23:02

I try and find the positive in every season but anyone who wants right say “snuggly” or “snuggles” can just go and do one. It makes me cringe. Like “yummy” or “blessed” or any of that twee shite.

it's not morally superior to prefer winter. Though how anyone can rave about the joys of a February in England is beyond by me.

DonnaBanana · 02/09/2022 23:03

Folks, it was 23C today, it is not even autumn yet, let alone winter.

"Nights always seem longer when it's dark."

Well yes, if it is darker for longer then night is longer by definition.

declutteringmymind · 02/09/2022 23:03

I am a little sad too but I do love the changes of the seasons. I love That we live somewhere where we experience warm summers and crisp cold winter and everything in between.

Tumbleweed101 · 02/09/2022 23:03

Has been noticeable this week. I sleep better in dark nights but love long, light evenings.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 02/09/2022 23:04

Autumn is my favourite season. I’ll be cosy with lit candles.

Ki44 · 02/09/2022 23:05

I vote you're being unreasonable because I'm one of those odd people that bloody loves winter.

The summer drives me mad. I love going away on holiday but I get depressed in the summer - I must get the opposite of SAD or something. I need a certain amount of darkness to feel sleepy - so summer is dominated by alot of insomnia.

That’s great, you are in a privileged position clearly. Many just need to survive it. With ice on their windows, struggling for food. I’m also privileged but not so much I’d gloat about enjoying it knowing what is about to happen to some families. The cold. The damp. the hunger.

but you enjoy it. Good for you.
