To not want neighbours touching my parcels

AIBU to not want neighbours touching my parcels.

I live in a big converted town house. There is a flat on each floor. I live on the second floor.

My neighbour who lives in the attic (5th floor) always seems to touch my parcels.

All post is delivered by the main entrance way on the ground floor. When he walks past to collect his parcels, he picks up any other ones that belong to other flats, and drops them off outside their front doors on the way up to his.

Background is, the individual recently moved into the block of flats. Seemed pleasant enough. I used to do it for my old neighbour and they returned favours for us, took deliveries etc.

no expectation of that.

bumped into new neighbour and was asked if I didn’t mind leaving things were they were, because she doesn’t like other people touching her possessions.

for what it’s worth, it’s always amazon or clothes

She's crazy, stay well clear and don't feed her cat or ask her to feed yours!

What is the point of reverse posts?! They're so fucking annoying and confusing!
Glad I didn't read it all and came straight to the end and your next post.

SunnyD44 · 31/08/2022 14:25

She sounds like a twat but at least you know not to bother trying to be helpful now.

SalviaOfficinalis · 31/08/2022 14:25

Ah I don’t mind a reverse. Especially in a very simple scenario like this where the reverse doesn’t make it confusing.

Just quietly bide your time until she needs a favour and then say you can’t because it would involve you touching something.

Same. Bloody annoying isn't it?
Love the username btw

I can't imagine how such a conversation would go with your neighbour without you sounding a bit bonkers - unless some of the parcels are somehow going astray between the ground floor and the 2nd floor.

What could the neighbour do to your parcel that a dozen of people in the delivery chain could already have done?
(Not that I think anyone is doing anything to your parcel)

Bubblyinblanch · 31/08/2022 14:27

You sound unbelievably precious. What disease do you think you're going to catch off him?

Xiaoxiong · 31/08/2022 14:32

Your neighbour is weird but tbh I can imagine one of the twitchier more anxiety ridden MNers getting antsy because someone was touching their stuff..."maybe they're scoping it out to see if they can steal my parcel" "they might give me covid, I'm still wiping shopping down" etc etc.

Ask her to water your plants and see if she decides you're harmless.

Sally090807 · 31/08/2022 14:33

Has to be a wind up

Teamonkey123 · 31/08/2022 14:35

I have just had to read this thread out to my husband as I was laughing so much!! 'Call 101 and log it' and so many others 😂😂😂😂

I find some MNers can be very biased and their answers depend on who the OP is.

I’ve seen almost identical threads but completely different answers depending on who wrote the thread.

So I do think they’re a good way to get an unbiased opinion.

Just go with it. It does you no harm to leave the parcel.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 31/08/2022 14:38

I would guess maybe she is ordering things that are personal or a bit embarrassing and is paranoid that you will somehow be able to recognise what they are. I order incontinence products online and I am always a bit paranoid that the delivery driver knows what they are or that the packaging will tear and make it obvious etc so would probably be even more anxious if my neighbours were handling the packaging.

reesewithoutaspoon · 31/08/2022 14:39

You sound nice. they are just an asshole. Dont even give it space in your head. They would hate my neighbour, he puts out and takes in my bins when i,m on nights and mows both front gardens. He even has a key to my garden shed and uses my mower and hedge trimmers. I don't care if he hasn't wiped his hands after he touched his knob. Small price to pay tbh.

Meraas · 31/08/2022 14:40

I don’t think this is a reverse. I think OP is mortified and is styling it out as a reverse.

Reverses don't work because usually there is a degree of unreasonableness on both sides.

If your neighbor asked you not to touch her parcels, it's really not a big deal to just respect that.

Yeah, it's weird, but it's a minor thing.

I think the same.

DecorateTheTree · 31/08/2022 14:45

He will be the last in a long line of people who have touched your boxes

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 31/08/2022 14:45

As I said on another thread, you'd have to be a bit thick to think no one had touched her parcel until you put your filthy fingers on it....

orbitalcrisis · 31/08/2022 14:48

Does he have a contagious skin condition?

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 31/08/2022 14:51

Are you Christian Bale?

mast0650 · 31/08/2022 14:52

He sounds very helpful. What's your problem with it?

KirstenBlest · 31/08/2022 15:04

I was going to suggest you move to a detached house, but MissStress 's post on page 5 means I can only recommend that you move to a remote uninhabited island
