To not want neighbours touching my parcels

AIBU to not want neighbours touching my parcels.

I live in a big converted town house. There is a flat on each floor. I live on the second floor.

My neighbour who lives in the attic (5th floor) always seems to touch my parcels.

All post is delivered by the main entrance way on the ground floor. When he walks past to collect his parcels, he picks up any other ones that belong to other flats, and drops them off outside their front doors on the way up to his.

Reverse?

Looks like I’m in the minority but I agree with you OP. I’ve had issues with neighbour intercepting my mail and physically stopping delivery drivers from giving my (many) parcels to me while I’m there waiting for them. Bit different as we’re both in detached houses, totally separate buildings and he’s also extremely nosy and has zero boundaries in other areas so it was the cherry on the cake that he was doing this under the guise of “helping”, after I’d politely asked him to stop multiple times.

One if the issues is if you order personal items online such as sex toys - a way I have described it is if I wanted to order a million vibrators and butt plugs every day, I don’t want them by default being fondled by a neighbour.

I don’t think your one is being malicious but it’s still uncomfortable to think that every purchase is going to be handled by someone who it isn’t addressed to; it’s one thing helping if you’re out or busy or asked or want the help but it’s another thing self-appointing as postmaster general against your wishes.

In the end I pointed out to mine that it was breach of contract between the retailer and myself for the courier not to bother to try and deliver to the address on the parcel, and illegal for him to intercept post without consent which I have never given. It has now thankfully stopped.

Your situation is slightly different due and I’m sure he’s just being neighbourly (unless there’s other issues) but I do at least understand why it’s uncomfortable.

And many many others as it made its way to you.

KarmaStar · 31/08/2022 13:01

Tubs11 · 31/08/2022 13:09

This has to be a reverse

CookieCoo · 31/08/2022 13:09

This has got to be a reverse. Or the OP is just a ungrateful knob

Nekomata · 31/08/2022 13:11

I'm just here for the inevitable sob-story drip-feed as to why the OP doesn't want him to touch her parcels.

Do you have any idea how many people touch your parcels between the shop and your home?

MajorCarolDanvers · 31/08/2022 13:13

You are being a bit odd

mamabear715 · 31/08/2022 13:20

Was your neighbour unwrapping your butt plugs and vibrators? If not then he wasn't fondling the items, just the boxes, no where near as exciting for him!

AngelinaFibres · 31/08/2022 13:24

My neighbour and I put our bins out on a Thursday. If we are away he puts our bin at the end of the drive. We do the same for him. Whoever is around after the bins are emptied brings both in. I thought this was nice. I have now realised he is touching my bin. I am appalled that I have been so lax. Some neighbours are just so vile . I will tell him to fuck off next time I see him. 🙄

Lucyccfc68 · 31/08/2022 13:27

Is he on glue?

When you get your ducks in a row and speak to him, make sure he knows that ‘no’ is a full sentence.

Backtobacknow · 31/08/2022 13:27

A helpful, kind neighbour, the very worst kind of neighbour you would want. You'll need to move, what he is doing is intolerable!

If he rents complain to his landlord!

Also, just to be safe, I would log it with

The residents committee
The managing agent for the flats
