to worry about transgender ideology being pushed on kids

Noella McHaher is a ten year old model whose parents said she “self identified” as a girl at the age of two. Her parents are also trans.

If my two year old identified as a smoker, I wouldn’t allow them cigarettes. Why is this movement so hellbent on putting children into boxes instead of letting them just grow up without defined labels?

Speaking generally, there is a link between children who “hate” their biological sex and child abuse. Children who have been SA sometimes self harm as a way of trying to prevent further abuse. I’m worried that these signs are being missed.

am I alone on this?

With regards to the OP I think it's disturbing that the child's mother has allowed her ten year old child to get into runway modelling when I wouldn't have thought that's an environment that's suitable for children. And slathered in makeup. If the child had been born female surely there would be complaints about sexualising a young girl? But because this child was born a boy that's apparently ok for him to be presented in this way?

My own daughter spent a full year saying she was a boy between 2 and 3. Consistently claiming to be male. If she had been born into a different family she could be living a very different life now. But as she was born to me I just always told her she was a girl (she had two big brothers so was obviously not yet quite sure what made someone a boy or girl) and eventually she matured enough to understand she js a girl and at 5 would never now claim to be a boy instead.

You don’t have a body you are a body.

This is a grim thought.

How is it not entirely true though?

There isn't another body for you to teleport into. You aren't a free floating mind or soul that can exist without one.

Your body is everything there is.

@Sunnyqueen

What do you mean "born in the wrong body"? Does this just apply to trans people or does it include physically disabled people as well?

This is such a good point. Its also like saying you were born with the wrong colour skin.

To be fair there are people who somehow believe they are the wrong colour. There have been a few of cases of " trans race" someone trying to look korean. Someone who went as far as injecting is it melanin? Or something to make their skin darker. Rachel.dolzeal is a famous case of a white woman claiming to be black.

Then we have had trans age. And now we have people trying to look like cats and aliens.

Most if its seem for what it is. Delusional. Offensive. A mental illness etc

Bit for some reason with " gender " we are meant to believe with out question

Whatsnewpussyhat · 31/08/2022 14:07

I am not scientifically illiterate. This is information from my biological sciences degree

Do you think a human can change sex?

because they have successfully convinced the large majority of women that a tiny sub-set of trans women threaten their rights and identity

Do you think that Stonewall and other trans groups actively lobbying for the removal of all female legal protections and right to single sex anything isn't a threat?
You can't let 'some' men in. It's all or nothing. And when 'trans' is no longer allowed to be defined with any remotely logical or meaningful criteria, how do we separate the types of men when we must take them solely by their word? Which it seems holds much more weight than any woman's. Funny that eh?

Do you not think that an ideology that convinces children that their bodies are wrong and must be surgically altered because they don't follow the societal stereotypes enforced on their sex is incredibly damaging?

Males telling women what a woman is.
Males telling us we can no longer define ourselves by our biology as a separate and distinct sex class with our own needs.
Males claiming their feelings or presentation somehow make them the same as us.
Males enforcing sexist female sex role stereotypes because without them, 'gender' is meaningless.

They are the patriarchy.

I'm really losing patience with the earnest "but sex is actually really complex and difficult to define" line.

Throughout history half the population have been denied the right to own property, to vote, to be educated. So how did the men in power know who to oppress?

Funny how it's crystal clear who a woman is when a man doesn't want her to have something, but it suddenly becomes all blurry and vague when it suits a man to call himself a woman.

Cait33 · 31/08/2022 14:19

My now 8 yo DS has always been drawn to traditionally "feminine" things - dolls, the colour pink, jewellery, make-up, fashion etc. He even expressed when he was very little that he "wished" he was a girl. Do I think he's transgender or born in the wrong body? Absolutely not. Do I think he's probably gay? Yes, totally. His older sister is gay as are several other close relatives. I think my DS will be a gay adult rather than a straight one but if he decides as a gay or straight adult that actually he wants to be a woman then of course I'll support that decision as made by an ADULT but as a child, no bl00dy way. He's also suggested a few times that he'd like to marry our dog (or me!) but he's not going to be allowed to do that either! The world's gone mad - I won't be allowing my children to go with it. My daughter, his sister, agrees whole heartedly BTW. As does her girlfriend.

YANBU
my child identifies as a seahorse at the minute.

A child does not understand trans ideology and it's so upsetting that some Parents push this on them.

I would not give any serious thought to what my children say they identify as at such a young ages.

Maybe at 18 I may start to support them... but that's many years from now and I'm sure they'll identify as a cat, dog, horse, plate, any other random object.

It does scare me brining up children in this crazy woke world.

They know the outcome to that thats why.

Why do you think the time is spent trying to push down womens boundaries as opposed to I dunno,.going to countries where baby girls are aborted and setting up testing to ensure no boys are thrown on the trash heap at birth.

TheKeatingFive · 31/08/2022 14:29

But obviously our “mind” and body are different.

Your mind is part of your body though. It doesn't exist outside of it.

If I chopped off the bottom half of my body (and somehow survived) so I suddenly lose half my mind? Half my personality? Memories? Intelligence? Obviously not.

Of course not. No one suggested anything like that.

I consider “you” to be the mind, the decision maker. The body is just the vehicle.

Its all totally interlinked. We massively downplay the role of our physical body. The vagus nerve is one of the most complex in our bodies, connecting the brain and the stomach, which we now know plays a huge role in anxiety and our sense of well being. The idea of mind/body being cleanly separated in function and role is a fallacy.

TheKeatingFive · 31/08/2022 14:30

Well quite

VestofAbsurdity · 31/08/2022 14:33

We are going to end up with a patriarchal Tory government (again) because they have successfully convinced the large majority of women that a tiny sub-set of trans women threaten their rights and identity. When the actual problem is, as it always has been, the patriarchy.

Transwomen and TRA ideology is the fucking patriarchy on steroids - just look at what is being demanded from women, what women are being expected to give up, what they are expected to tolerate - TW/TRA demands are pure unadulterated male entitlement.

Yes indeed. There is very little complexity about who is allowed to go to school in Afghanistan. I don't think PCOS gets you a high school education there.

Exactly. From female spaces, to female sports, to redefining lesbianism, it's just women losing at every turn here.

I found it hugely telling that the one potential downside for men in all this, patriarchal inheritance, was quietly exempted from gender identification legally. They sorted themselves out and now couldn't give a rats ass what it means for women.
