Lazy river ownership

Currently on holiday exploring the pool area.

We decided to go for an adventure, we adventured (my wife and I) to the private villas (swim up), we then adventured back (on a nice floaty).

On the way back we heard a comment from a private villa occupant that the adventure path was reserved for private villa occupants. No signage to say can't go down it and we were quiet, just wanted to see what was up that part of the pool.

Being my good self I wholeheartedly intend to adventure there again. AIBU, I most definitely think so.

Only if the river belongs to them, or is provided for their personal, private use.

If it dead ends where those villas are then it's clearly not a thoroughfare and is there to provide swim up access.

I bet you're insufferable at parties too.

I can't imagine anyone objecting to you just passing by their villa.

If you were walking on a footpath past their villa, I doubt anyone would object and this feels the same to me.

If they don't like it they could ask the hotel to speak to you or put up a sign.

You are there not us, if you think it feels like it's ok then it probably is.

Here are the rules as I know them:

If there are chairs on the non room side of the pool/river it’s public
If it spans more than a few rooms it’s public
If there aren’t signs, it’s public
If it spans a long distance/multiple buildings it’s public

Now here are the unspoken rules… They aren’t really public and people will get grumpy

@justfiveminutes if you pay extra for a swim up pool and the pool doesn’t give through access I would say it was quite obvious that bit of pool is only for those residents.

Bit like sitting on their patio which I assume you wouldn’t do

We've made the decision that while we are to completely free to use the villa adventure path we probably shouldn't. In other sad news.....

Our floaty (chairy mcchairface) suffered a slow puncture. He survived the previous holiday but alas this country will be his final resting place. He was a good floaty.

Backup floaty will be engaged tomorrow, he is more of a laydown mclayface and doesn't quite have the social capital of chairy mcchairface.

We did see angry villa resident yesterday (DP pointed out) at breakfast. Decision was made to eat our eggs and head to the lazy river.

I think all in all, the correct decision.

Still.........we have many days to go, maybe laydown mclayface (apologies for the name, it's not very good) needs to experience the adventure path too...

Gives names to glorified lilos, like they're people. Heaven help us

We're back.....in fact this is our third time here (but only our second time up the swim lane of dreams/villas).

It was completely uneventful, there were a few looks as we appeared on pinko pinko (lilo with a slow puncture), suffice to say it's not quite the right place/time for a polite "morning" but it felt less intrusive than last time.

Mayhaps tis a sort of getting used to being a minor annoyance.

I don't think we'll adventurepath again, at least not on this trip 🙂

Ha ha. Have you ever at any point in the last two years found out if you’re actually allowed there or not? Like asked an employee? How did you get to the lazy river this time if not by the path?
