Lazy river ownership

Currently on holiday exploring the pool area.

We decided to go for an adventure, we adventured (my wife and I) to the private villas (swim up), we then adventured back (on a nice floaty).

On the way back we heard a comment from a private villa occupant that the adventure path was reserved for private villa occupants. No signage to say can't go down it and we were quiet, just wanted to see what was up that part of the pool.

Being my good self I wholeheartedly intend to adventure there again. AIBU, I most definitely think so.

Nor me @WhenISnappedAndFarted - even after the explanation I’m still confused. I’m 51 and realising there’s a lot I haven’t experienced and never will!

Frances658 · 29/08/2022 13:25

I'm also clueless as to what a "Lazy" river is? So it's not a natural river, it's a river built by the resort, is that right? And what's an "Adventure path", and how adventurous is it? Does anyone have a link to one of these type of places, as I'm now intrigued. I've never stayed anywhere with that sort of stuff before.

gogohmm · 29/08/2022 13:27

Have you looked on the map of the resort - the one we stayed in stated "private villa guests only" on a section but no signage in resorts

Winniethewheeze · 29/08/2022 13:28

It's not an actual river but a pool shaped a bit like a river. It's like a very slow waterslide.

You sound like a pain in the arse, OP.

We went to a sandals resort this year. Many rooms have a ‘swim-up’. Yes anyone can wander along these waterways, but only a tit would.

ReneBumsWombats · 29/08/2022 13:28

"Hey Johnny, what are you rebelling against?"

"What have you got?"

Maltester71 · 29/08/2022 13:29

I’m sorry to report that you do sound a bit of a cock

EatingWormsMichael · 29/08/2022 13:30

Wow good for you.

Usually I take a good book for holiday entertainment, but you crack on with your illicit floatie adventure.

FarmerRefuted · 29/08/2022 13:31

Deliberately antagonising other guests just to make a point about a stupid river that you don't even need to float down is a dick move and will only spoil other people's holiday such as your wife, the other guest, anyone else who happens to end up dragged into it. It's the equivalent of a dog pissing all over something just to prove its theirs and not carring that everyone else now has to deal with a pissy environment. Why do it?

Frances658 · 29/08/2022 13:31

Ha ha me too @thenightsky . I though it was going to be about owning and managing a (natural) river in a lazy way. Or someone complaining about their neighbour who doesn't manage their section of river properly. I quite fancy a moving to the country and buying a house with a massive garden by a river (albeit with flood risk considerations), so I was quite interested to find out if they require much upkeep. This thread is both disappointing and baffling.

NellesVilla · 29/08/2022 13:33

CF territory, especially for your username.

CaptainThe95thRifles · 29/08/2022 13:39

"Adventuring", even if we can accept this as a verb which I'd really rather not, really shouldn't involve a man-made "lazy", shaped swimming pool abomination.

If you want to go on an adventure, get a grip of yourself and find a proper river where you can engage with reality.

Dwrcegin · 29/08/2022 13:39

Your title is clickbait. Disappointed.

TabithaTittlemouse · 29/08/2022 13:39

Surely if the swimming pool goes in a circle around the hotel they can’t stop people swimming adventuring in that bit? Or you would have to get out halfway and walk adventure to the next public bit?
Please draw a diagram.

Btw Holibobs makes you sound terribly common (which I think is the opposite of what you were going for).

JinglingHellsBells · 29/08/2022 13:41

I was expecting something akin to A level geography and sedimentary rivers.

The most tragic post I've ever read on MN 😂

Oh come on, it's nice to find a man on Mumsnet not moaning about not being able to get sex he does sound an absolute knob though

Has the OP gone? (back up the river, adventuring?) I did a little username check and even this thread doesn't show up?

JinglingHellsBells · 29/08/2022 13:44

@FuckThisForAGameOfNotSoldiers You are not allowed to assume he is a MAN simply because he/she/they refer to their 'wife'.

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/08/2022 13:46

I clicked on this as I didn’t understand what the thread was about. I still don’t…lol

Can I just squeeze in a mention of oxbow lakes? Mainly because that is the only thing I can remember doing in Geography.

OP has floatied off into the sunset ...

Anonymous48 · 29/08/2022 13:48

I don't understand. Does the lazy river go past the private villas? In that case, of course you're allowed to adventure go there. That's the point of a lazy river. You can float along it and go round as many times as you like.

But although a lazy river is mentioned in the title, I don't see any mention of it in the body of the post. And what the hell is an "adventure path"?

Endlesslypatient82 · 29/08/2022 13:48

Hollibobs123 · 29/08/2022 11:25

:) adventure path is most certainly public.

I'm a little bit like a roomba on holiday, I like to map out the edges.

Angry (passively) villa resident was certainly vocal once we were "out" of earshot.

I can't wait to revisit the adventure path

I see no anger. No passive aggression.

just a private villa occupant passing comment
