Lazy river ownership

Hollibobs123 · 29/08/2022 11:08

Currently on holiday exploring the pool area.

We decided to go for an adventure, we adventured (my wife and I) to the private villas (swim up), we then adventured back (on a nice floaty).

On the way back we heard a comment from a private villa occupant that the adventure path was reserved for private villa occupants. No signage to say can't go down it and we were quiet, just wanted to see what was up that part of the pool.

Being my good self I wholeheartedly intend to adventure there again. AIBU, I most definitely think so.

Why do you write so weirdly? Do you think you're funny? [Cringe]

Sounds so pompous. I don't mind the pushing the rules to the limit, but he writing style here makes me itch.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 29/08/2022 13:52

Apologies, just misread your post.

Endlesslypatient82 · 29/08/2022 13:52

Out of interest, how come you name changed to start this thread Op? Embarrassed to be associated with it? Or don’t want a poster AS your name and seeing all the times you have complained about perceived injustices 😂

ClownSchool · 29/08/2022 13:52

I think OP might mean ventured?

Endlesslypatient82 · 29/08/2022 13:53

Lazy river

a long and winding pool with a slight current that pushes you along gently

bloody love them

justfiveminutes · 29/08/2022 13:54

So many arsey responses.

I have certainly seen around a million other similar AIBU questions over the years - about things that could easily be resolved by asking someone - and rarely seen such unnecessarily unpleasant replies.

OP has been pleasant and respectful on the thread so I'm not sure why the vitriolic response really unless pp was right and it's because op is on a nice holiday and referred to a wife.

Endlesslypatient82 · 29/08/2022 13:55

I cringe for this poster

and his poor wife (assuming he’s a man)

I bet he wear swim shorts that a far too tight for him. Oh and white socks and sandals

ThinWomansBrain · 29/08/2022 13:58

Since you end the OP stating you're going again, so not sure of the point of posting, but careful you don;t drown.
It would be a loss to the world.

QuinionsRainbow · 29/08/2022 13:58

OP,I'm still baffled. Is this any old "lazy river" or The Lazy River? And if the latter, where on earth is it? And what kind of Adventure is involved? and did you get back safely? And was there honey still for tea?

He sounds like a bit of a pompous tool but i think this is a bit far!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 29/08/2022 14:01

Cuntychops.

And Poppycock.

Zone2NorthLondon · 29/08/2022 14:01

Be honest you’re angling for a fight and are going to be boorish and conspicuously use the path, to provoke a reaction and have a big ole bluster
You have already decided what you’re going to do

CaptainThe95thRifles · 29/08/2022 14:02

The OP has not been respectful of the English language.

TreacheryPepper · 29/08/2022 14:04

I have no idea what any of this means.

Brendabigbaps · 29/08/2022 14:05

Do a little wee as you float past stuck up peoples villa!

Someone described this writing style perfectly on a recent thread about men posting on MN - it's an identifiably male style.

It has got bugger all to do with the op being on a nice holiday or that they have a wife.
It has everything to do with their odd writing style and assumption that we would all find it terribly funny that they decided to go into an area that other people had paid a premium to have private.

DuchessofAnkh77 · 29/08/2022 14:40

Nope - this is a private "pathway" or "swimway" up to some villas. It's like toddling up a private drive to see whats there....

Baoing · 29/08/2022 14:50

The OP's user name is "Hollibobs." I honestly think that says as much as we need to know.

Hollibobs on their hollibobs did their river thing and their first thought was to make a MN thread. What's not to believe?

Spanielsarepainless · 29/08/2022 15:19

Pool or Poole? Or tool even.

JinglingHellsBells · 29/08/2022 15:24

I'm a little bit like a roomba on holiday, I like to map out the edges.

A roomba? I didn't know what one was ..(quick google.)
Ah, google tells me it's a robotic vacuum cleaner.
Well, well. I've got one and never knew its real name.

You like to 'map out the edges'. I don't think a roomba does any 'mapping'. It's programmed at the factory to steer clear of edges.

What you really mean is that you like to go where other people have paid for some 'luxury' and you haven't, so you gate crash.

Nothing like a roomba. A roomba only goes where its supposed to go.

I get the impression @Hollibobs123 that you think your style is terribly literary and witty but there is another word for it .

It starts with w and ends in ...ery. 7 letters.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/08/2022 15:41

Can I just squeeze in a mention of oxbow lakes? Mainly because that is the only thing I can remember doing in Geography.

Definitely. They're what happens when a river gets lazy and cuts a corner. Much more interesting than the OP floating around some ersatz 'adventure'.

Tralalalalalalalalalala · 29/08/2022 15:41

I know men come on Mumsnet but...How "manly" to come on and ask such a wimpy, pathetic question. I'd be embarrassed to be his wife.

Vecnasnurse · 29/08/2022 15:58

God, you sound like my ex. "Well there was no sign so how was I supposed to know?" Said in a smug tone with one hand on the hip and wobbly head.

AngelinaFibres · 29/08/2022 16:12

Theimpossiblegirl · 29/08/2022 11:30

As long as you don't go up the steps to their balcony or get a beer from their mini bar I'm sure it's fine. How do they know you're not also in a villa?

Probably blindingly obvious.
