Lazy river ownership

Currently on holiday exploring the pool area.

We decided to go for an adventure, we adventured (my wife and I) to the private villas (swim up), we then adventured back (on a nice floaty).

On the way back we heard a comment from a private villa occupant that the adventure path was reserved for private villa occupants. No signage to say can't go down it and we were quiet, just wanted to see what was up that part of the pool.

Being my good self I wholeheartedly intend to adventure there again. AIBU, I most definitely think so.

No idea what you mean.

IME a hotel or villa has a pool.

I have clearly never been on the right holidays as I've no idea what 'adventured' means when one swims up a pool area as I thought pools were self contained well....pools, literally!

And 'floaties'? How did you find one of those? Do they belong to the people in the villas?

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 29/08/2022 12:36

Don't worry @JinglingHellsBells 'adventured' has never been and should never be used as a verb.

Not sure about the rights and wrongs of using that part of the pool, check with staff maybe as I think swim up villas are typically private.

However, the writing style you have used makes you sound utterly unbearable so you probably are being unreasonable.

LOL re. unbearable bit!

Who swims around to the private swim ups? No signage needed: most normal people wouldn't do it.

PriamFarrl · 29/08/2022 12:37

There is no sign saying don’t walk up my front path just to have a nosey, that doesn’t mean you can just stroll up there.

If I’d paid for a private villa, as I did earlier this year so no jealousy here, and some random started swimming about in the private space I’d be put out too.

I'd already worked that out but didn't want to take my place in pedants' corner. 😂

JinglingHellsBells · 29/08/2022 12:39

@Hollibobs123 Are you both singing 'Up the Lazy River' too?

covilha · 29/08/2022 12:40

So the adventure is to swim in a pool?
And then boast your undoubted derringer do on Mumsnet 🤣
Ha ha- I thought I was the only one who had such limited horizons! 😂

Indiana Hollibobs and the Floatie of Doom

JinglingHellsBells · 29/08/2022 12:44

I think we all need a diagram @Hollibobs123

The pool, the lazy river, the villas, the floaties, the irate villa residents, and a map of A to B.

thenightsky · 29/08/2022 12:45

I thought this was going to be about rivers, drains and waterways ownership and how they never seem to get dredged these days, so flood and burst their banks after heavy rain, pissing off local residents.

Swim up rooms are for private use. Don't be a dick.

This ☝
Why be a twat and deliberately wind people up?

People pay a lot extra for the private/swim up pool!

Me too. Ie. Someone who owns a river was being lazy about its upkeep!

No you can’t swim up there! We stayed in a private Vila and the swim up area is just for the residents.

Another time We also stayed in a villa with your own loungers and table and chairs outside your room. Would you have sat in these too? Of course there’s not going to be any signs up as it’s obvious!

Agree

Jedsnewstar · 29/08/2022 13:07

I bet you are the type of parents who let their kids run wild in restaurants because they are being ‘adventurous’.
You are behaving quite cringey, grow up a little. If you want adventure clime a mountain.

Jedsnewstar · 29/08/2022 13:07

Climb

SunnyD44 · 29/08/2022 13:12

@YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse i never said anyone was being homophobic stop putting words into my mouth.

I said posters will be snarky if they assume you’re a man.

Abhannmor · 29/08/2022 13:12

I thought it was going to be about some shotgun wielding expat Tory claiming he owns the beach adjoining his holiday home.

And you would be some latter day Digger doing your bit for the right to roam !

giveovernate · 29/08/2022 13:19

You sound utterly ridiculous and about 13!

Nekomata · 29/08/2022 13:22

A lazy river is a loop-shaped pool with currents, so you climb in with your floats and drift around the loop. We visited a leisure pool recently which had one and spent hours just going round and round in circles. I do love a good lazy river!
