Mcdonalds Nottingham was raided by a gang of 50 kids, yes kids just young kids. It was upsetting to watch that. Kids being stabbed, inflation that's going to hit many hard. A corrupt government..any good points? I wish I could leave

Blame it on the fuckwits who voted Brexit. Those who were worried about too many people the 'wrong' colour landing on our shores! Ha, that will be the least of their problems with the shot show that has only just started. And, if we carry on getting heatwaves like this, we'll all be the same colour anyway.

And anyone that voted Tory. Blame those assholes, too! Not only is this country and embarrassment but so are half the people in it!!

Why do so many threads on here start bleating on about Brexit. It already happened. Just get over it. Not everything can be blamed on brexit.

Weirdwonders · 23/08/2022 22:17

The country's been shit under Labour too.

I’m in my early 40s and the Labour government I lived through was most certainly NOT shit. It was bookended by shit Tory governments characterised by sleaze, underfunding public services to the point of collapse, dropping living standards, corruption, incompetence, gaslighting, sowing division, failing to plan for crises, sowing suspicion of experts to further their careers and feather their own nests. I could fucking go on but what’s the point. I wish we could dump all Tory voters in one section of the country and fucking chop it off.

If the Labour government you lived through wasn't shit, why have they lost the last four general elections?

Because a Remoaner isn't just a pun. It's somebody who moans. And then re-moans. And so on.... 😂

Sounds like the start of a craze like flashmobbing

There are various books on this.

You could, if your question is real, research the impact of FPTP and differential vote requirements for each party, voter dealignment, the global crash, Brown's popularity vs. Cameron, the impact of the SNP vote, implosion of the Lib Dems in 2015, Brexit, Corbyn, the Red Wall, UK media, Johnson amongst other topics.

Winning an election is about building a coalition of voters. It is quite complicated.

Weirdwonders · 23/08/2022 22:34

@StoodOnAPlug Beats me, I guess people genuinely prefer paying their taxes to get nothing in return and swimming in sewage

Nightlystroll · 23/08/2022 22:37

So the Tories are just better at doing complicated things than the other parties? I'd think that's who's best in govt, then. We don't the simpletons who can't do complicated things in power, surely? 🤔

Countdown2023 · 23/08/2022 22:39

It is not going down the pan it has already gone down the pan.

We have let standards slip, people have become more and more entitled, no one wants to pay more taxes to sort out infrastructure issues, no one wants to take any difficult decisions to sort out NHS/Education and our productivity as a country is shite

there is no magic money tree!

sst1234 · 23/08/2022 22:41

Oh but, you must not blame the feral, robber youths or their parents. You must blame the government, the neighbours, society, people who voted Brexit. But you must never ever hold people responsible for their actions. It’s just not the done thing.

And if all else fails, then blame their behaviour on some learning disability or call it a mental health issue. But remember, never ever hold people responsible for their behaviour.

Yellowshirt · 23/08/2022 22:45

The country is full. Close the borders.
Build council houses and bring back right to buy.

It is our fucking shit government who do not hold anyone to account - crime is effectively decriminalised now!

I want crime prosecuted, I want accountability. That is one of my main reasons for voting Labour - I want a police force, I want courts, I want youth justice, I want social work, I want education. Not this Tory system of defunding the police so no crime is ever investigated Angry

Confused where do you think right to buy has gone?

And good luck closing the borders - governement desperately seeking workers from across the globe.

Have a read about the list of things I posted. Your answer is 'funny' hahaha but you seem to miss the point I am making - there are a lot of reasons.

If you support the Tories that is your right - but I think they are shite and they have made a lot of mistakes. The question of why they more easily get a majority in our system is complicated and important.

Nightlystroll · 23/08/2022 22:50

No one is blaming everything on Brexit - they are just pointing out Brexit is a big pile of dog shit...

So's my dining room. It makes as much sense to blame a pack of kids robbing MaccieDs on my dining room as it does Brexit. And when you say things like that, you're just giving them and their parents an excuse for not taking personal responsibility for their criminal behaviour.

Labour can win the next GE but if they don’t then iirc Cons are first to win five in a row

If they do lose I hope they look at why seriously rather than same old excuses

LexMitior · 23/08/2022 22:53

Its not very complicated - why don't the Government care about teenagers flashmobbing or stealing (as it is traditionally called) from McDonalds is because there is not one of them that would ever step foot in there. All this stuff about why don't we have the services that Labour used to fund, literally, the Tory party think that is a waste of money. So they got rid of it. That was what people actually voted for. And they consistently vote for low tax. Fine. You do not get all the nice socially supportive stuff in a low tax economy, the police are for rich people, public services are difficult to get so they don't have to spend money, etc.

Even attacking McDonalds is pretty low - imagine what happens if teenagers flashmob Parliament. Or the court system. The Government would be on them like a ton of bricks because they care about that.

Yes the criminal justice system is knackered, but nothing will change if crime occurs in areas that are poor, where the residents are deemed unimportant. That is always true to a lesser or greater extent in any country. But it is a lot more obvious that it used to be in the UK

chillidoritto · 23/08/2022 22:54

I think the whole world is fucked tbh. Not just UK and especially the US

loseridiot · 23/08/2022 22:56

Feral council estate kids? That's unfair and unkind. I don't often post here but that's appalling.

I'm a close family friend of a single mum with two amazing kids who live on a council estate. They made me cards on my birthday, gave me a cake and are so intelligent, funny and caring. Their neighbours are lovely as well. They socialise, are friendly, and help each other.

My so-called ex-family were well off. Lived in an affluent area, nice car, and foreign holidays. They never gave a hoot about me or anybody else. Their neighbours were unfriendly and competitive.

I have no issue with anybody doing well and don't condone bad behaviour from anybody, no matter where they come from or live. But looking down and scapegoating people just because you think you're better? You're not. Shame on you.

None of the things on my list were 'excuses' they were reasons, borne out by political research independent of the Labour party.

Sorry, do you have me confused with someone else? I did not say the Macdonald's thing was due to Brexit.

I just said Brexit is shit and making all problems worse. Brexit has of course made Britain significantly poorer which affects us all in many ways.

They do sound like excuses, there’s nothing stopping Labour polling well now anyway. Labour supporters always come across as hard done by, yet the system can deliver them a victory as it did Blair - a landslide no less

Tory voters don’t seem to appreciate what the effects are of being relentlessly ground down by poverty, with no hope of bettering yourself. (Seen the new tuition fees anyone?) That creates misery in the family and disorder in society.
As for the supposed miracle of Brexit, that was supposed to rescue the NHS…. Even Victorian dad Rees Mogg admitted that recovering from Brexit would take decades. Admit it, it hasn’t benefitted anyone at all except the rich people keeping their assets safe. This isn’t something we can just ‘get over’.

It was the Labour government that brought tuition fees on originally.

There’s also a gang in London- young teens- who raid those stupid sweet shops.

To be fair those sweet shops might be money laundering
