Mcdonalds Nottingham was raided by a gang of 50 kids, yes kids just young kids. It was upsetting to watch that. Kids being stabbed, inflation that's going to hit many hard. A corrupt government..any good points? I wish I could leave

End of the day we live in a democracy. The democracy voted to leave. Suck it up and stop the pathetic whining already.

the80sweregreat · 23/08/2022 19:52

The cost of energy worries me too. To add to the general grim news. This is a ticking time bomb.
Those poor employees in McDonald's must have been terrified ( I would have been) but let's hope it's a one off. The six weeks often bring out the worst , but knife and gun crime on the increase is also bad and I'm sure it'll only get worse too :(
It is horrible what is going on

NellesVilla · 23/08/2022 19:56

There’s also a gang in London- young teens- who raid those stupid sweet shops.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 23/08/2022 19:57

What is stopping you leaving then?

And what makes you think any other country will be any better?

girlfriend44 · 23/08/2022 20:12

It's been going down for ages.

9 year old shot yesterday
9 year old stabbed a few weeks ago
Pensioner stabbed last week.

cant see it getting any better.

MissPoldark · 23/08/2022 20:12

How are you drawing a line from Brexit to feral council-estate kids attacking a McDonalds?

tell us, what special intelligence do you have access to confirming the precise demographics of the people involved and what is it that you think will be achieved by stirring up a class war on top of everything else?

RosaGallica · 23/08/2022 20:12

^ oh fgs.

I think you’ll find many people voted Brexit because of the way things are going, than that Brexit caused gangs of feral youths. They’ve been around in the midlands for a long time.

You’re not wrong to say someone needs to get a grip on law and order. Before it all falls completely apart.

Isitsixoclockalready · 23/08/2022 20:15

Absentee government with nothing to look forward to in terms of either candidate. Absolutely clueless bunch in charge.

Nightlystroll · 23/08/2022 20:16

I think we need a bit of perspective. There are 67m people in this country and these things are reported because they're out of the ordinary.

Are you taking the piss? Why ignore the idiotic posts above doing exactly the same thing, and jump on this one?

And of course these are not feral gangs of children whose parents have nice jobs and who live in pleasant detached houses in Bromley. You know that, and I know that, but for some reason we are supposed to pretend that we don’t know exactly what sort of homes and places they come from.

The McDonald’s thing is odd, I wouldn’t take it as meaning much more than it is - it’s not the end of days

A really crucial part of a democracy is the right to protest about things you don't like, even if they were voted for. Why do you think being in a democracy means that people should shut up and stop complaining? It's the opposite.

Yes, middle/upper class kids are angels, never do anything wrong. they all spend their free time volunteering to play bingo with the elderly and lonely or picking rubbish from the road side, going to Oxbridge, not joining the Bullingdon club and just generally being a tremendous asset to society.

Those feral inner city (“urban”? Should we use “urban” as code?) are definitely, always, the ones who go on rampages.

Certainly there are a lot more things to worry about - sewage pollution, climate change, energy prices, increasing inflation, a Tory government who expect us all to wait for them to elect a new useless leader to replace the previous one and politicians who think that the best way to distract us from all the shite is to go on about 'woke' people and amazing wheezes like bringing back antiquated measurements like that's actually going to improve anyone's lives.

The world is as its ever been and history tends to run in cycles of rise and fall, good and bad. The difference these days is that thanks to rolling 24/7 news coverage and global information you get to hear about everything that goes on.

This, except I'd have said you get to hear about every bad thing that goes on

Family Is here. There are better countries, just got back from one, they have problems of course but less violence and crime and lower wages but more laid back lifestyle and as i say much less violent crimes. I think sadly the UK is quite famous in other European countries for gangs and more violence.

We always text Brexit to each other when anything is missing etc,

Why are these teens doing the Maccas stuff anyway, is it an SM thing

Blame it on the fuckwits who voted Brexit. Those who were worried about too many people the 'wrong' colour landing on our shores! Ha, that will be the least of their problems with the shot show that has only just started. And, if we carry on getting heatwaves like this, we'll all be the same colour anyway.*

And anyone that voted Tory. Blame those assholes, too! Not only is this country and embarrassment but so are half the people in it!!

Agree! Of course there are massive world wide issues but the UK are in a very bad place to deal with this because of Brexit.

This. Brexit was the turning point, and that's also what led to the abysmal politicians we have in power today.
I can't believe how this country pressed self-destruct for no reason, and how quickly it's all gone downhill. I have spent time in other European countries over the past couple of years, and yes, everyone has been hit by Covid, inflation and Ukraine - but no where else does it feel like we are descending into full crisis mode and there is literally nothing positive.
My only consolation on Brexit is that generally speaking whilst it is affecting everyone, it will be the ones who voted for it who will be hardest hit (less educated / less affluent/outside London), as factories move jobs elsewhere, growth slows, they can't get the seasonal labour they need, can't export etc.
There is a deep irony in that.

CocoC · 23/08/2022 20:37

The McD thing is a red herring though. That kind of stuff can happen anywhere now, unfortunately.

carefullycourageous · 23/08/2022 20:43

UrsulaPandress · 23/08/2022 18:43

Seriously you need to get over Brexit and move on.

I agree, we are all going to hell in a handcart and Brexit is the least of our problems.

Brexit is not the least of our problems, it is exacerbating the rapid decline of the British state, but it is also not the direct cause of all the issues especially social unrest/violence.

I live in London. I’m painfully aware of the demographics carrying out the stabbing and the muggings.

If you are blind to reality then that’s your issue, but there’s a bloody good reason we moved from Tower Hamlets to a private gated street where the neighbours are bankers, lawyers and surgeons when we had children.

The worst that ever happens here is a neighbour’s child asking if we’ll buy some of the biscuits that they cooked to support Ukraine. In TH there were running gang battles fairly frequently, and it was always, always when groups from the local council estates came into the nicer areas when the weather was good.

whataloadabullocks · 23/08/2022 20:44

Well of course kids are running feral, there's no discipline anymore. It will get so much worse before society has enough and discipline swings the other way and becomes draconian...about 150 years time, then it will swing back again looking at history.
