Mcdonalds Nottingham was raided by a gang of 50 kids, yes kids just young kids. It was upsetting to watch that. Kids being stabbed, inflation that's going to hit many hard. A corrupt government..any good points? I wish I could leave

Well of course kids are running feral, there's no discipline anymore. It will get so much worse before society has enough and discipline swings the other way and becomes draconian...about 150 years time, then it will swing back again looking at history.

I'd give it another 30 years to be honest.

I don't know why people persist in denying that Brexit has seriously fucked us. Is it stupidity, Tory bots or just wilful delusion?

The Tories can own Brexit as far as I'm concerned. It's their responsibility now to make it work and it's their responsibility to deal with all the issues facing us. Stop crapping on about 'wokeism' and take responsibility like a government is supposed to. I'm not interested in whether Labour could/couldn't do a better job, about woke people, about bringing back imperial measurements or them blaming people protesting or going on strike. They're masters at deflection and rather than looking at ways of limiting freedoms to strike and protest, they should perhaps consider why people are having to do it.

BunsyGirl · 23/08/2022 21:56

@SquirrelSoShiny well I think that it’s stupidity to blame everything on Brexit. It shows a distinct lack of understanding of what is happening elsewhere in the World.

Escarpahell · 23/08/2022 21:58

Imagine a government that wants to cling to power no matter what, with absolutely no concern for the people it is supposed to serve, or for the future beyond the next election. Its goal is the unfettered enrichment of its upper echelons, its mouthpiece and cheerleaders are the tiny group of media moguls who control the vast majority of the information given to the population, presented as facts and truths.

I heard an interview last week with a man who'd lived in his (stationary) car for 2 years because there was no other option open to him. Who was he blaming for his predicament? The FOOTSIE 100 CEO's who's average pay has risen by 35% to around £3.1m?

No. He blamed the immigrants who forsake their families and all their belongings to get on a tiny boat and set off into to Channel in the middle of the night. In his mind they were the enemy. That's what the current crop of "Conservatives" want - people hating their neighbours, fighting each other and never recognising that they are being fucked over from on high. Unless and until there's a politician/party who can persuade people that they have a voice it can only get worse.

I'd give it another 30 years to be honest.

People have said this same thing forever.

The reality is a small percentage behave badly. An effective society deals with it. Currently the UK government is just leaving crime untackled.

Sunflower987 · 23/08/2022 21:59

Yanbu, everything feels broken.
I also think there is a severe lack of parenting too.

No one is blaming everything on Brexit - they are just pointing out Brexit is a big pile of dog shit and is making everything even worse.

We would have really come out trumps with the vaccines fiasco in Europe if we’d stayed in the union wouldn’t we 😂

In the scheme of things, that was a blip.

Crikeyalmighty · 23/08/2022 22:03

There are many issues that are Brexit related but I don't think the severe lawlessness is one. Far too many parents not instilling manners or discipline and then getting shirty at anyone who pulls the feral kids up. No police to be seen in many areas, be it city's, towns, roads. The government gave a lot to answe for on this though , they decimated the police, probation, council budgets etc and yet quite miraculously (and this is where Brexit dies come in) found £440 billion under the sofa to facilitate it -- more than all our net contributions combined over the years.

Yep @carefullycourageous 100%

Guiltycat · 23/08/2022 22:05

Yes but these are young teenagers so their parents should know what their kids are up to and actually parent them they are not adults

This may come as a shock but there are parents (too many it seems) who either won’t or can’t parent their children. They really are left to raise themselves/ run feral. They couldn’t give a flying fuck if you or anyone else judges them. They can’t be shamed or guilt tripped into being better people, because they were raised that way too. They know there are no consequences.

It’s all well and good saying it’s not the governments responsibility, but it is all of us who suffer the consequences (unless you are rich enough to cushion yourself from the negative effects, and even then eventually you, your dc or your grandchildren will feel them). We should all be very worried about the increase in the amount of people who have terrible upbringings, know there effectively is no law and order and have nothing, and no way to ever get anything without crime, so will never have anything to lose.

NippyWoowoo · 23/08/2022 22:08

And, if we carry on getting heatwaves like this, we'll all be the same colour anyway.

Confused
Backtoblack1 · 23/08/2022 22:09

The MacDonald’s footage is shocking. As a mum of two teenagers, my anxiety every time they leave the house is at an all time high.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 23/08/2022 22:10

Funnily enough I watched the Woodstock '99 documentary last night and a line struck me
'those kids we're treated like animals from the moment they entered the festival, so they acted like animals'
We, society, are being absolutely made a mug of and treated like shit. So, in a society treating people abhorrently, why should young people care about anything? Services are being pulled, school funding pulled, etc.etc... I'm not condoning it at all, but this to me is a sort of reap what you sow moment.

They should face age-appropriate consequences, rather than nothing. Youth justice is a vital part of protecting society.

You seem very keen for criminal behaviour to be ignored.

Watch the documentaries on drill music etc. Most of the little shits aren't scared of going to the nick. If anything it makes them look even more well ard to their mates.

I'd happily see them get truncheoned but no doubt that would be seen as a violation of the little darlings rights.

zzzexhaustedzzz · 23/08/2022 22:16

Tory voters don’t seem to appreciate what the effects are of being relentlessly ground down by poverty, with no hope of bettering yourself. (Seen the new tuition fees anyone?) That creates misery in the family and disorder in society.
As for the supposed miracle of Brexit, that was supposed to rescue the NHS…. Even Victorian dad Rees Mogg admitted that recovering from Brexit would take decades. Admit it, it hasn’t benefitted anyone at all except the rich people keeping their assets safe. This isn’t something we can just ‘get over’.

Weirdwonders · 23/08/2022 22:17

The country's been shit under Labour too.

I’m in my early 40s and the Labour government I lived through was most certainly NOT shit. It was bookended by shit Tory governments characterised by sleaze, underfunding public services to the point of collapse, dropping living standards, corruption, incompetence, gaslighting, sowing division, failing to plan for crises, sowing suspicion of experts to further their careers and feather their own nests. I could fucking go on but what’s the point. I wish we could dump all Tory voters in one section of the country and fucking chop it off.

Completely agree

TokidokiBarbie · 23/08/2022 22:18

Well relatively speaking they're possibly right.

A fair few scientists reckon we were all dark skinned until about 10k years ago when lack of pigmentation caused middle Eastern immigrants to turn white.

They sequenced the intact DNA of the cheddar man and it showed he was likely dark skinned.

There have always been thugs. Humans are a violent species who will be violent if they can get away with it, which these youths apparently can.

Doubt they'd try it in China tbh.
